People wonder why his arms are so small. It's for balance. And since evolution worked backwards, so they say, wings would shrink as it grows. It's a bird!
In the beginning sientists said that T-rex was a strong hunter. Now they say it was a scavenger because it was to heavy and too slow to hunt. But sure there were even slow plant-eaters. Maybee T-rex was both - a hunter and a scavenger.
@Riddarjakob In modern science, researchers have said basically all predators are both, They are opportunists as feeding for them is never certain. No carnivore is a pure hunter if you think of it as one sided as they used to say. BTW, Jurassic Park has no actual facts on this dinosaur documented correctly. T-rex is the top carnivore on land.
I wonder how they know all this info about the T-Rex? Such as the mothers sitting on the egg for three months, being the "most nurturing" dino parent, etc., etc. o_O
What does he mean by saying "T-rex has a sense more acute that a 100 blood hounds all duck-taped together"? What difference does it make whether there is 1 blood hound or 100 blood hounds taped together? The furthermost they will be able to smell will not be more than the furthermost the best one among the lot can. STUPID GUY! AND HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE A SCIENTIST.
i can see why they say its a scavanger..because of its big nose....anything on the planet who would need that would be a scavanger or with its eye sight...a chase you down dino..thats what makes trex king he has everything
It's funny - I'm a Geo/Paleo major. There's virtually nothing documentaries like this can teach me that I didn't know long ago. Yet, I absolutely love watching it. Dinosaurs do something to the human mind - they are everything we told tales of and imagined throughout the ages, except better, because they *existed* :)
Im not very familiar with todays science of archeological equipment and meathods of research and how details are discovered. But with what I watched in the vid, is it all narrowed down theories just based on what was discovered that may or may not have been in the first place? I mean, its not like we've really seen the behavior of any of these creatures.
@bowlofarthritus You make this seem as if it's all assumptions. If we study its massive and developed brain with its closest living relatives, birds, also all the nest fossils found, it's conclusive that t-rexes were very caring parents and would likely have a mate, likely for life. But even if you believe it's mainly a reptile, just look at king cobras, they are very intelligent snakes and both parents care for their nest and are mates for life
now they say T-rex is the largest.......ignoring spinosaurus, and in planet dinosaur, they say car and giga is bigger than T-rex, when they are both smaller.
@sslim29205 You can make very good judgements on how big organs were based on the size and shape of bones. A large eye socket implies a large eye, and therefore great vision so you know the part of the brain dedicated to vision would have been big. You also compare with modern day animals, as similarity is often something common in nature. Then of course you have evidence based on other similar dinosaur species that you can cross over. It all builds up.
Cool video. Great pictures. Anyone got wind that the founder of Prehistoric Channel has written his first thriller book, THE ICE GORILLA is now being looked at by movie producers who are trying to turn the book into a movie. It depends on how well the book sells. Personally for me I'd love to see Jurassic Park IV and THE ICE GORILLA in movie theaters in 2013.
Epic killer. Epic dinosaur. Epic name. The Rex is the biggest, baddest stone cold motherfucker to have ever walked the earth. Growing up, this was the dinosaur that terrified me and awed me in equal measure. My favorite dinosaur. Its got 'King' in its name. How epic is that?! The lord of all it surveyed.
@tejassawant Yes sir. Dinosaurs always amazed me, and none compared to Tyrannosaurus. At age 4, I was a fucking dinosaur encyclopedia ;P Also... I couldn't get enough of Jurassic Park haha
i like this....but why do they say POSSIBLY the largest land pretator on earth. smaaller than gigianto and spino.....but they would have been right if they said the most epic!
It's a great T-rex animation...they could've made more shots; since the scenes are becoming more repetitive (flipping the scene didn't help much IMHO) as the show progresses.
@92af Even though I love T-Rex I gotta disagree somewhat. With bite-force, absolutey the most powerful. But since both Giganotosaurus and Carcharadontosaurus had a larger body mass and possibly more muscle I would think they were slighty more powerful overall or at least it's equal.
@92af your right all of the dinosaurs ar big but small and the tryannosaurus rex is the biggest Not fast but It is a good killer i agree with everyone the t rex is the badassest Meat eater
@92af Let's not forget that T-rex's Brain is 6 time larger than Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus.
Carnosaurs where running extinct where ever Tyrannosaurus goes, they where both more powerful AND intelligent the other carnivores are simply no match.
