  • Thanks for posting this, I did this wonderful course not expecting to be able to carve a single piece as i'm cack handed at woodwork and even though I now have a finished puppet I couldn't remember how to start, This vid is great in jogging the memory though I wish there was more info. John is a wonderful teacher though he sounds quite stern and dry while telling you about the water stone sharpener which isn't the case at all!

  • it looks to me like happy people make puppets.

  • I am so happy that the tradition of this theatre is still alive. I used to go there when I was a little girl!

  • @FaerieCrone i do make marionettes to without a workshopo lokk my channel for augsburger puppenkiste or marionete

  • Awesome! I would love to take a course like that!!! thanks for sharing!!!!

  • If anyone would like more information on the type of Puppets shown in this Video the following will be useful:

PuppetCraft is a touring puppet company based in Devon, UK and provided the course shown in this video.

The Little Angel Theatre is a Puppet Theatre in London, UK, and the Video was filmed here.

Both of these companies have websites with lots of information on Shows and Courses.

  • what wood do u recomend carving with?

  • I used Lime wood for the arms , legs and middle part of the pelvis, the rest is Jelutong which is the softer of the two, hope this helps!
