I think that YouTube set a good example. Basically, when a person sees a video that is relevant to their own site, they'll feel compelled to use it as media on their own page. The ads within the video will pay back to the poster's youtube channel and to the person hosting the embedded media.
I wish they could do something similar for designers. :-/
