The title of Hero of Russia Roman Petrovich Taskaeva awarded presidential decree № 891 of August 16, 1992 for courage and heroism shown during the trial of MiG-29, MiG-31. Since 1998 - Deputy Director General Design Bureau named Yakovlev for flight tests. He lives in the town of Zhukovsky, Moscow region. Honored Test Pilot of the Russian Federation (05/31/1998). Picked up in the sky and tested the MiG-31M / 4, MiG-29M / 4, the MiG-AT (03/16/1996). Participated in the tests of the MiG-29, MiG-29M and MiG-29K, MiG-31, MiG-31M, tested a MiG-29 MiG-29UB and MiG-29M at critical flight conditions and testing of refueling MiG-25RB, MiG-25PD MiG-31 MiG-29K. Set a world aviation record.
Taskaev, Roman Petrovich Test pilot. He was born October 14, 1954 in Khilok Chita region. In 1967-1971 studied gliding and parachuting in the Chita flying club. In the Soviet army in 1971. In 1975 graduated from the Kharkov VVAUL. He served in the Air Force combat units. Since 1981, the captain of the reserve. In 1983 graduated from Test Pilot School. From June 1983 to May 1998 - on the flight test work on behalf of the bureau of AI Mikoyan (in 1992-1997 - a senior test pilot EDB).
During a training flight I had to fly a little Robin DR400 (SEP) without the elevator and it was hard enough to only fly it! I wouldn't want to land without the elevator...
Ans he does it with a fucking tail heavy jet, on concrete, on centerline!!!
What do they mean by "Remote Control System"? They say that when he first starts to loose control, and they mention "RCS" several times afterward. Is that like a weird translation of "Fly-By-Wire" or something? LOL, I like how at 2:45 the Tower asks about the voltage, and Taskaev snaps at him "THE VOLTAGE IS FINE...not much help" XO
Good job on the pilot though. That's quite a thing to decide, to try and land rather than eject. I wonder if the ejection seats in the MiG-AT are "zero-zero"?

OK dude neither one of thoses videos should detailed damage of the aircraft... I really would like to see the damage to the tail to understand the problem.... Inless it was a russian joke.
It was not a joke. It's a bitter truth. Ask somebody to translate what Kvochur says and you'll understand what I mean giving you these videos. As for a video with detailed damage, it does not exist.
u see the elevator hanging down on the end of the vid. its quite enought to understand what happened to the tail. Btw there was a similar incident to a small prop. plane not long ago, there are pictures on the internet showing the damage created by overspeed on that plane. Very similar
@jamestexas244 Yes yes a joke, to you there all in Texas it will be ridiculous, when in your sky such pilots as this will appear, forcing down yours ace as flies on kitchen.
Aircraft (airforce and civilian) have crashed and people were killed because pilots were waisting time following the checklist.
A checklist isn't sacred. Because of their own swift thinking and actions pilots have brought aircraft safely back to earth and they saved lives because of it. And this pilot is an amazing pilot with loads of experience.
He trained together with other amazing Russian pilots such as Anatoly Kvochur and the late Valery Menitsky(RIP) All legends.

I'm thinking flying with the flaps extended at high speeds may have created too much turbulance and damaged the tail and or elevators.

@01467603
Roman Taskaev certainly is a leg-end!!
I have footage from the 1970 and early 1980's when Roman Taskaev, Anatoly Kvotchur and Valery Menitsky trained with Mig-29's together!
Same generation pilots. Fantastic pilots!
Truly amazing how he controlled the MIG-AT
only using engine thrust. Most pilots would have bailed out instantly.

never try to solve issues like this yourself...thats what a well designed checklist is for. The one he never reached for.
