just maidened my funjet today, only running 3s, 2700 kv motor, and 6x4 prop, bout 400 w, but really impressed by how well it tracks, but also really would have liked a rudder, and this mod you did gave me a great insight how to set it up. great vid, thanks

I built mine almost per this video and with fantastic results, even after alot of "experts" on R/C groups told me it would fail, a year and a half later the same battery and motor scare the hell out of everyone at the field week after week with no improvements except new tape on the belly, and radars at 138

Excellent info. I have built mine similar to yours, using a Turnigy power system and a 5s-2200 LiPo. We are experiencing extreme torque from 1/2 throttle to full. We have tried a throttle to aileron mix with little success. Any suggestions?

@i3dm It is strange...can't seem to get the amount of aileron correct. 30% toomuch, 10% not enough.....we'll figure it off.

@BocaPhil i use a curve based program mix where i can set each point to a value which i check in flight - you can usually get it nearly perfect.

Hello. Could you please explain how you make the slot in the foam to install the carbon fiber spar on the top of the wings? How do you make this a perfect straight line?

Have you tried a square prop yet? I would assume a 5,25X5,25 will get you more top speed. Drivecalc gives about 170km/h jet velocity for the 6x4 and 230 km/h for a Graupner 5,2x5,2

when stationary using a setup similar to yours.

great videos! do you use hard or soft timing on your esc for the medusa? im going for 4s on the 2500kv medusa - would a 6x4 prop still be the right choice?

you will need to check currents and watts, but i think it should be OK if you fly with throttle management.

I use standard timing on the ESC.

@i3dm this medusa motor Medusa 028-040-2200V2 is rated at max 40amp current how do you not blow up the motor!!!!!

hi lior, great setup! how long continuous do you think you can run the motor without causing any damage to it? obviously during flight it will get more cooling than on the bench, but do you think it is enough to run it full throttle for, say, 45s?

i wouldnt know, since you run out of sky in about 3-4 seconds :)

OMG, this is exactly why I started in RC...Fast and LOUD!! I have just taken your spec and made a shopping list!! The video of your setup is great but you can't really see any detail. Not sure if it was the camera quality but I would really appreciate a more detailed video of the setup and the CF rods through the fuse....Thanks again. I'll post some videos up when it's in the sky! thanks for showing us your setup, my question is, did you use the original funjet mount? did you do any mods for the mount and is that mount strong enough to hold it and does the medusa motor fit right in with the right screws and holes?

all original parts fit right in, i do use hex bolts instead of flat screwdriver ones - much easier.

just a flat CF spar 4mm wide, it is CA'd on.

thumb rule is less voltage = less RPM = larger prop for the same setup.

Lior, thank very much for the setup, my FunJet fly's fast in the sky and beautiful. one more thing how long can i burst the power on a full throttle in 7sec or 10sec o.k i am using a 5cells, what if 6cells can the Medusa 2200kv handle it too!

I was unable to fly for full throttle more than a few seconds since i ran out od sky LOL.

I havent tested 6S, but i suspect it should work with a smaller prop, but you must check with an amp \ watt meter.

Yes, check wih a Watt meter - you might be better off with a 4S pack on that motor.

could you tell me what kind of tool and size that you are cutting with so smooth across the wing is look 's great, and what size of carbon fiber for wing and ailerons that you use. i should have my funjet in a couple day

i used a regular xacto blade without going too deep into the foam.

CF spar is 3mm wide about 1mm thick.

1. The flying video is already up as well, have a look.

2. 2700Mah 5S would still work well.

3. 2200KV means the motor will spin at 2200 RPM for every 1 Bolt of battery attached.

Very nice, your prop sounds like it needs balancing though. You should hear 2500 watts through a 6.5x6 pylon prop :D
