USE HYLAND's pills or Natra Bio liquid - both are taken under the tongue and stops the itching and dries up the rash....amazing. I've used it for years. You can only get it from health food stores or a place like the Vitamin Shoppe. call to see if they have it before you go. Do NOT use the creams - they don't stop the spreading of the rash. also - cover up any of the rash with bandaids or long sleeves....the rash will spread onto any skin that it comes into contact with.
use burt's bee poison ivy soap, its about $8, you can find it anywhere. Ive had the rash for 9 days on my arm and Ive used it for a day now and the rash seems to drying out and the itching does go away. don't spend unnecessary money on other stuff that barely works.

I just swiped my arm against some poison ivy yesterday, about 24 hours ago. I washed it immediately after with some cold water from a mountain stream, however I had no rubbing alcohol at hand. The rash didn't get any bigger and its not as visible anymore, but there is still minor redness. Is it pretty much over or is the worst yet to come?

@MrTaT0RT0T I think you should actually go to a hospital, since it's so severe. A friend of mine once had it as much as you do- it covered about a third of his back- and when he went, they gave him an (admittedly painful) steroid shot that helped calm it down. I'd also recommend Benadryl and a hydrocortizone cream like they did in the video. Finally... poison ivy is just something you have to suffer through, to a certain extent. Just try to remain distracted by watching movies.

Once you have it, best method I've found is Water + Baking Soda. Get a cooler if you got it on your feet and then just keep it like half way full so when you go to bed or feel itchy, just soak your feet or hands in it for like 15 minutes. Best quick method I've yet to find.

Now for the Oil of IVY,try using it in water balloons,water guns and works surprisingly well when insanity sauce is added too......now for the good news for everyone just like me who gets poison ivy by just looking at a picture of it in winter......invest in ALOE PLANTS it kills it,and it works DAMN good on all kinds of BEE stings which is called FORMIC ACID,incase your allergic to that too.

Pretty much, it comes in a ton of different varieties. The leaves from plant to plant usually look totally different from eachother. Only way to tell is by seeing the 3 leaf pattern. There's also other harmless plants that resemble poison ivy too.
just become familiar with where it grows. You'll never see it in open areas that have direct sunlight shining in. It's almost always growing by a larger plant, in shady areas, with little or no smaller vegitation around.

@Squeaky3384 that happens to me a lot. If you try Cortaid Poison Ivy scrub it helps a lot. I use it. It comes in a little blue tube like toothpaste, if you scratch it really hard for a while and then imeadiately go straight and scrub it wont spread
i've tied a cloth that i've soaked in salt water for about 5 minutes, and it drys out the little bubbles you get, it actually helps, thanks to military survival guides haha, TRY IT!

what ever you do if you get the poision dont dont dont scractch it it will spread like wildfire make sure you wash everything you come in contact with

I had this sh*t a dozen times when I was a kid. Now that I've got it as an adult I've kept it localized by drying with rubbing alcohol then putting a calamine-baking soda paste to seal it.
STOP USING HOT WATER PPL. It may feel good but all you're doing is opening the pores and lettin that sh*t spread.
@AngelofMayhem69 Scratching the rash doesn't spread it unless your fingernails have come in contact with urushiol. If you washed your hands thoroughly then it won't spread but scratching can cause an infection.
Blowdrying takes the itch away IMEDIATLY... also it feels SOOOOOO GOOD WHEN YOU HOLD THE DRYIER UNTIL IT STARTS TO BURN ALITTLE....it feels as if you were scratching without actually doing it...=D

@DJPeck1 That maybe because the hot water opened the pores in your skin and allowed more of the urushiol to get in. Expert usually say wash with cold water first. It also possibly you burned yourself to. It depends on the temperature of the water and the contact time. I just cleaned up a lot poison ivy outside. When I was finsihed I washed the few areas with and orange oil based cleaner. So for I only got one minor area that has formed a rash. I'm putting hydro-cortisone on it.

This is the one plant I love the most,well it's a love- hate....here's the reason why.............I dried it out by the pound,and used it as a powder for some FUN,I do have a few X's,then one time turned it into a concentrated oil....lots of Fun now! endless possibilities...hahahaha! Anyways here's some ideas for all who take a fancy to this now,I used it by putting it into a BRA,inside underware,on door knobs,toilet seat, pillow sheets,inside of socks that was just the powder...

Pretty much, it comes in a ton of different varieties. The leaves from plant to plant usually look totally different from eachother. Only way to tell is by seeing the 3 leaf pattern. There's also other harmless plants that resemble poison ivy too.
just become familiar with where it grows. You'll never see it in open areas that have direct sunlight shining in. It's almost always growing by a larger plant, in shady areas, with little or no smaller vegitation around.

@Squeaky3384 that happens to me a lot. If you try Cortaid Poison Ivy scrub it helps a lot. I use it. It comes in a little blue tube like toothpaste, if you scratch it really hard for a while and then imeadiately go straight and scrub it wont spread

I had this sh*t a dozen times when I was a kid. Now that I've got it as an adult I've kept it localized by drying with rubbing alcohol then putting a calamine-baking soda paste to seal it.
STOP USING HOT WATER PPL. It may feel good but all you're doing is opening the pores and lettin that sh*t spread.

@AngelofMayhem69 Scratching the rash doesn't spread it unless your fingernails have come in contact with urushiol. If you washed your hands thoroughly then it won't spread but scratching can cause an infection.

Poison Ivy is nasty, it itch, it hurts, it is uncomfortable. I keep on getting these rash and itchy feelings around my forearm and sometimes on my ears and nose everytime I am outside doing the garden or cutting down shrubs. It is a nightmare, especially the itch. I've been to two separate doctors, they both told me it is poison Ivy. I tried to search around, but I can't find these poison ivy around. Is there anyone can give me some advice. I've been putting these creams to relieve itch.

@DJPeck1 That maybe because the hot water opened the pores in your skin and allowed more of the urushiol to get in. Expert usually say wash with cold water first. It also possibly you burned yourself to. It depends on the temperature of the water and the contact time. I just cleaned up a lot poison ivy outside. When I was finsihed I washed the few areas with and orange oil based cleaner. So for I only got one minor area that has formed a rash. I'm putting hydro-cortisone on it.
