  • Awwwww edmond is hot when he turns into the count. *yummy*

  • God will give me justice? I thought he couldnt read.. yet he could carve those words with no misspelled words.

  • the other walll... hahahaaaaaaaaaah

  • I love the film, "The Counte of Monte Cristo"!!! In the story, Jim Caviezal gives an outstanding performance in his role as, "The Count of Monte Cristo"! This movie is definitely one of my most favorite romance-mystery, ever to hit the big screen! Watch the film and allow yourself to indulged in the accolades of the Count of Monte Cristo's love, pain, journeys, adventures and of course the mysteries that surrounds his story. -Mme. Monique

  • although this movie was amazing...they made a mistake. the part where he reads on the wall"god will give me justice" i thought he said he couldnt read...lol

  • @Caliente764 The prison keeper read it as he escorted Dantes into the cell.

  • dorleaques is one hell of an actor who is he?

  • DUMBLEDORE!

  • You know, when you are stuck in a prison and you know that you are innocent and with no chance or hope to escape. Dumbledore is the person that you want to see the most.

  • what a movie , love the chateau d'if chief

"Ahh, but have you named them yet?"

    :'(

"shh, once i was as you are now. but i promise, it will pass."

~you know things are bad when your voice of reason understands that you count the rocks in the walls... and expects them all to have names.~

  • One of my favorite scenes is Dantes killing the prison warden, although I wish he'd have gotten to whip him first. What a great movie, so much better than the book.

  • I was very well aware of Richard Harris long before Harvey Porter, which I've never seen & have no plans to. A great actor he was indeed.

  • It's so weird seeing James Frain as an asshole here and an asshole in The Tudors because I remember him first as sweet and docile Forney in Where the Heart Is. Lol.

  • the prison looks shitty,

but the fellow inmates charming and informative.

  • "Have you counted them yet?" LOL.

  • Santa Claus!! =D

No wonder Dantes escaped from Prison

  • @theCuno100 Well they better soon, otherwise itll be too late.

  • Buy have you named* them yet? Haha I love that part. (:

  • @theCuno100 Of course, but we better not stay like we are, we are being cowards. The French and English need to take a stand or a bad fate will happen.

  • @theCuno100 Im sorry, but Britain and France are gone. Its not longer the way it was and they are definatly ruining, I encourage all French and Brits to move to Eastern Europe and prepare for the fight.

  • God all over again, I wonder if Mel saw this film and said "that my JESUS in my next film.

  • Richard Harris is perfection

  • Richard Harris will always be a beloved actor among many others. He was kind hearted and a good man. I know that many miss him even now.

  • LOL I can only imagine how terrifying that would be. You're in the same cell, alone for years then all of the sudden the bricks in your floor raise up and you see a face... lol

  • look at my countrys sheer BEAUTY! evident in the entire film!!!

  • Richard Harris.... RIP...

  • OMG RICHARD HARRIS!!!! <3 HIM!!!

  • Greatest Movie that i ever see im my precious Life.

God well give me Justice Good Movie the Best.

  • That's a line to remember =)

    I've counted them many times.

But have you named them yet?

  • Everybody knows that God summers in Spain.

  • Haha Top Dollar is still a sadistic bastard.

  • "You ask god for help and I'll stop the moment he shows up" epic line.

  • @lilze96

Although i agree with your comment that he was a fabulous actor. Wouldnt you agree its good hes remembered across all ages. obviously Richard wouldnt have been annoyed at such a thing, im sure he was very proud of his role as dumbledore, otherwise he wouldnt have been in the film in the first place. Calling it a wizard in a corny ass film, somehow your completely bypassing your intend, dont you think?

  • lol 'forgive my intrusion'

  • lol richard harris so good in this movie. lol he dugged the wrong way.

  • "but have you named them yet?" LOL

  • @SimzySays420 haha yer that cracks me up, it's the sign your going crazy xD

  • i'm listening to the audio book.

  • HORRIBLE TRAITORS !!

  • this movie made me cry when i was 11.

    i'm 16 now.

i love how it has the same effect on me. even stronger.

  • @tobben27 you cried even more?

  • @l3iiSON no not like that lol it's just a really good movie.

  • "But have you named them yet?" :D Jessie, Jillian, George, Humphrey, Darren, Julian, Beauregard...:) anymore?

  • 597 stones

  • I have had friends like Mondago

  • Just watching this is getting me claustrophobic, lol. Thinking of being in that tiny tunnel....ughh gross. lol

  • amazing acting...jim caviezel is a great actor

  • I wonder if Mel Gibson got the idea to choose Jim Caviezel for Passion of the Christ from the whipping scenes in this movie.

  • @stream469 I think its because Jim has the look of how a lot of people imagine how Jesus Christ looked. Cause I have to admit even though nobody knows how Jesus Christ looked I would imagine he looked somewhat how Jim looked in Passion of the Christ. Except maybe his eyes. I don't know that's just my opinion.

  • My question is how did he know what he was carving if he didn't know how to read yet? Did anyone else catch that or am I the only one?

  • @clipsin2007 its kinda obvious he didn't know how to read, but he could have learned a small amount of words, but not enough to read a whole sentence, letter, etc.

Either that, or he figured it out or caught on. I dunno. its a movie LOL.

  • @clipsin2007

The warden told him what it said. So, I would assume he knew.

  • @clipsin2007 ..the warden read what was carved on the wall when they initially entered the cell. He didn't carve it originally, he only traced the letters that were already there. You're probably not the only one that missed that.

  • i thought he was going to rape him

  • @souther lmao!

  • I will buy the book but I LOVE this movie

economic in our language : dig now and .. later

  • @PrinceMoaaz Buy the book. It is, as always, much better. the movie is too fast paced for all thats going on. The book develops it nice and thoroughly. Plus the movie has so many changes that i didn't like.

  • WIsh they'd stuck to the book...

  • omg! loved the book loved the movie!!

  • aw, i love richard harris. he just crawls head first through a hole without a care in the world

  • is that dumbledore? the first dumbledore?

  • @hallielute Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.

  • How did the Priest know that Dantes had been in there seven years?

  • @patrckhh20 Well, he is a wizard.

  • @patrckhh20 Or Dantes mentioned it offscreen

  • While it is an excellent movie it does not in any way follow the book. Fernand Mondego is the son of a fisherman NOT the son of a count, Danglars becomes a banker, not the owner of Morrel's shipping CO. Also, Edmund does not wish to have Mercedes as a wife either as he has grief against her as well...

  • @zkriesse yes he does want mercedes as is wife in the book he was taken at his engagement dinner

also just assume the movie has nothing to do with the book youll like it more

  • @PhotonMonkey Obviously you've either not read the book in it's entirety or you completely misunderstood my meaning. In the beginning of the story yes, they were engaged to be married in Holy Matrimony. At the conclusion of his imprisonment at the Château d'If he was in great anger towards not only Danglars, Mondego, but also Mercedes...does that make my point more clear my good Sir/Madam?

  • this part of the film really struck a chord with me.

    a great film.

  • such a good film thanks for uploading :)

  • 0:30 Dantez explodes in his pants

  • I miss old dumbledore. new sucks balls

  • @lilze96 Actually, Narcissa Malfoy(Draco's mother, Lord Voldemort's right hand woman Bellatrix Lestrange's sister) is here too - Helen McCrory.

Hihi, I enjoy pissing you off ♥

    xoxo

  • @lilze96 I remember Richard Harris LONG before Harry Potter; as Jarvis in Cry-The Beloved Country, George Adamson in To Walk With Lions, Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator. Good actor... RIP

  • @lilze96 and what abt "Abraham the bible movie" and Apocalypse. Exellent performance there also. Totally agree with you.

    R.I.P. Richard Harris

  • @lilze96 uh... Marcus Aurelius from Gladiator duh. lol

  • @lilze96 Corny ass it may be but very popular and thats why. Harry Potter and this film came out around the same time did they not? Only a year apart. The films you mention are older and perhaps not seen by a younger generation. I certainly haven't seen any of them as shallow as that possibly makes me.

And besides. . .he was Dumbledore. He was the character come to life.

  • @F4NT4FRU1TTW15T You might not like Harry Potter (and the films don't hold a candle to the books) but many, many people do (including myself). Its one of the greater series of our times and captured the imagination of children and adults everywhere. Would it be prejudiced of me to guess that you are one of the people who would find this sad and say that books and films from the past put Harry to shame?

  • @lilze96 I wouldn't go as far as to call myself a Harry Potter whore, but Richard Harris is awesome... But I will most certainly get those movies you listed, and that was a cute little reference to Denzel

  • @lilze96 he did do an excellent job in all of his roles, including dumbledore.

  • @lilze96 :D:D:D That's the only movie they see of him hehe

They said so because they have no good memory of an actor's name, only mostly the appearance or voice of an actor that reminded them of Richard Harris. Yeah it's funny to hear them like that :D

  • "but have you named them yet?" classic dumbledore xDxD =P

  • Fernand is a lot smarmier here than in the book. xD

  • hahaha look at the part 5 thumbnail.

  • Only left to imagination, the film obviously doen't show what happens with Dantes' bodily functions when "nature calls".

  • @xoxgodofgodsgodxx Actually, it does. That's what the bucket is for, where they hide the dirt.

  • uh, acrobatic Dumbledore xD

  • I would be freaking out! I wouldn't know what to do with myself!!

  • I get that his imprisonment is essential to the story but from a practical point of view why not just have him guillotined as a traitor? mondego would still have gotten mercedes, danglar his boat and the magistrate his promotion.

  • @swastikausa from a realistic pov nobody would expect him to escape like that

  • @swastikausa Villefort is a coward, he already couldn't kill his father by his own hand. After all he'd be the one responsable for the murder of Dantés and none of the others - Mondego, who is definitely able to kill, or Danglar of whom I think the same - has the authority to have Dantés guillotined.

And just like des696969 said, nobody would expect him to escape from Château d'If. Plus there he suffers more than being dead and all the three of them wanted him to suffer

  • omg it's dumbledore hahahaha yay

  • Edmond must has the best name in a book ever

  • Ha.. the old version of Quantanamo Bay, with the same level of justice.

  • OMG when he tries to hang himself it's the saddest thing ever. :(

  • In the words of God,we suffer sometimes to make us stronger:::::2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me:

  • @jccp18 In Buddhism they believe if you lived a hard and unfair life you will gain karma and live a perfect one the next one....This belief was created so the monks could steal everything from the farmers and so they wouldn't resist. Corinthians chapter 2 is a chapter to control the masses so they will accept injustice.

  • @whydid666 Actually, no. Buddhism says nothing about that. Hinduism says that if you follow the rules of your life, you will go up a class in your next one, but that's the closest to what you're talking about.

  • oh and i thought im the only one who noticed that he sounds like dumbledore! and the head coming out of the ground? argh CREEPY!!

  • @bluieful He played dumbledore in the first two movies.

  • Comment removed

  • @SamDeRe81 Well its every year the warden comes back to beat him I think. I am just now watching the movie again so I might be wrong.

  • when he starts to cry breaks my heart. I know its just a movie but Im sure there have been moments in life like this.

  • GOD WILL GIVE ME JUSTICE

  • 'Now, may I stand on your shoulders?'

Perfectly normal thing to ask a complete stranger. LOL.

  • 2519 stones..."but have you named them yet?" lol

  • how many stones in the walls?

  • merlinn41

tell be about it...all this over some fucking bitchass whore.

  • poor man :(. I can't imagine how hurts it is if I am him.

  • all this over a fucking bitch wth:S

  • @merlinn141 When the movie ends then comes the real problems... A whore for a wife and a son with paternity issues

  • @bryoneill11 Oh really, she becomes a whore. What a warped take you have on love. When she wrapped that string around her finger for all intent and purposes they were married. She was lied to, told Edmond was dead and instead of marrying the man she wanted to marry she married that infidel Mondego so her son could have a father. You need to clean up your thoughts.

  • @conyelp Nope...She wont become a whore. She is a whore. Look, First, we need mandatory paternity test because I prefer a thousand times that my wife cheat on me rather than know that my child is not mine. This woman was capable of married her fiance's best friend (it doesn't matter if his dead) just to raise a child like a millionaire. Not just that, She premeditated the whole situation making him believe the child was his son. Im a lawyer & believe me this happens every day.

  • (1 of 2) @bryoneill11 What is wrong with you? It appears from your response you're incapable of following the plot of the story. Since the 3 of them were children Mondego had wanted Mercedes. He finally found a way to get her. He sided with that 2nd mate and the two of them went to that chief prosecutor. Mondego was angry because Edmond hadn't told him about the note Napoleon gave him,

  • (2 of 2) @bryoneill11 the 2nd mate was upset because he felt Edmond had disobeyed his order not to go ashore and got promoted to Captain.. The two of them "premeditated" to get Edmond into trouble. Mondego did it because he had always wanted Mercedes and saw a way to get her by getting Edmond put in prison. You might be a lawyer but it appears you can't read and follow the correct story line. I'm not responding to anymore comments from you, you're just arguing to put the blame on the woman.

  • @conyelp I know the story, you are the one who's arguing over nothing... I just said that the problems will come eventually after the movie ends, like every love story or princess story... Like in reality. Think out of the box once in a while

  • 7:48 holy sack is that dumbledore!?

  • Richard Harris!!!!!!

I cried for days when he died!!!!

  • god is everywhere, he can see everything

  • seeing Jim Caviezel getting whipped is like seeing Passion of the christ all over again.. how ironic..

  • @Iori400 yes!!! OMG!!! and it was worse in the Passion of course but it's still rough

  • ....ok, Fernand is HOT in this movie. Fail.... the one guy you're really supposed to be able to despise!!

  • youre pretty sick aren't you? ...couldn't resist :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • 7:19 would be scary as hell!

  • the whipping scene seems funny

  • youre pretty sick arent you?

  • the book is better in my opinion. I suggest to everyone to read it.

  • y did Dumbledore die, again and 2 dat peg who said those shit about God i hope wen ur burning in hell or any shit happens 2 u u dont call on Gods name

  • @MsJewJew101 ffs his name is Richard Harris!!!

  • I like anything Jim Caviezel is in. This movie shows many things, the commitment and devotion of love to another. The anguish of betrayal by supposed friends, Mondego is a perfect example of an amoral, rich and spoiled person. I like Edmonds cellmate, what a stroke of luck to be locked up with him, Edmond learned to read, write, learned economics, math and science. He stayed true to his core values, avenged himself with all who betrayed him. AND wound up with a son and wife, great story.

  • @conyelp I think the best thing it shows his how Edmond goes from being a boy to a man; how he goes from being a needy and naive person who gets walked over to a powerful, intelligent and wise man.

  • @OhBlivEUn yes, you are right and what a terrible way to progress from a naive person to one intelligent, powerful and wise. I love the movie myself, I know it doesn't follow the book exactly but I like it.

  • 9:29-9:41

    thats some deep shit

  • @lotanddaughters Yeah, look how it ended up? The guy with the whip got killed and edmond got revenge.
