  • Love this dude!!!

  • he really sound like srv

  • I think Doyle is the only musician who reaches the Hendrix tone and feeling. He's one of the best guitar players today.

  • Brother Doyle II Is The Real Thang Man, Taking It To The Next Level. Very Creative. IMO

  • I love technical players and jazz guitarists like Wes Montgomery BUT i also really like this guys sound and have done for 15 yrs.

It's that full, retro Blues sound that i haven't heard since i saw Hendrix in the 60s.

Even sounds more like Hendrix than SRV did, to me anyway, if thats possible.(not putting SRV down you understand)..maybe because he's a lefty?

  • I play this way too. Exactly. Going on 15 years. :D

  • @ijustseefaces same here

  • anyone know what fuzz that he use? sounds greaat! heh

  • @PutraBlues Doyle uses a basic vintage Arbiter Fuzz He got in the late 80's mainly. But the fuzz "sound" you might be hearing is his use of a Octavia with his fuzz with his Marshall Super Bass cranked up. I'm from Dallas and have alot of music friends who are family friends with him, Jimmie Vaughan, etc. His sound is basically Arbiter Fuzz, Uni-Vibe, and Octavia.

  • Very good player for sure......

needs to work more on his music instead of playing for famous players like waters and clapton.

  • ....good stuff. Hey Doyle if you ever decide you want to learn more algebra I'll gladly trade you algebra lessons for a session with that '64.

  • WOW....to have Stevie Ray Vaughan, call Doyle 'an amazing guitar player' is just phenomenal!!! And he was right!!!! what an honor!!!

  • A shortage of guitar-players in AUSTIN, TX?? Are you freakin' kidding me??

I live in CT, and there are TOO-MANY guitar-players. Go figure. I guess Austin was a hotbed for killer drummers back in the late '70's/early '80's.

  • @gangtwanger dude he lived in dallas most of his childhood. he was a baby when he lived in austin with stevie. his dad and mum moved to fort worth.

  • @ jdg2k6..."He sounds like just some bad guitar players I've heard. Nothing he does is impressive to me."....really!?...a comment like that towards Doyle tells me 2 things....1. you're an idiot...and 2. you obviously know nothing about guitar...you're probably a "shredder" fan...shredding = musical masturbation...and I use the term "musical" very loosely...true music is about heart, soul and passion...not about technical prowess or speed

  • A shortage of guitar players in his area?? Is that even possible???!!

  • Its not all about technique. Doyle plays with feeling and writes great songs and has a great voice. Clapton has the pick of whoever he wants and he chose Doyle for his band. Nuff said!!

  • wow-he doesnt know scales and plays like that! amazing

  • Other great bluesman played like him (Albert King, Otis Rush etc) Doyle is very talented and is amazing

  • when was this recorded?

  • @jdg2k6 I understand why you might be saying this. In this video he uses a lot of effects and doesn't really play that much. You should check him out on the DVD "Sessions for Robert Johnson".

  • @jdg2k6 I admire his songwriting skills. Listen to his solo albums and maybe you will understand. Clapton and Roger Waters have complimented on his skill's for some reason.

If you can post an original here on youtube that sounds better than any of Doyle's songs that are posted here, It would be a surefire way to get yourself some quick exposure as a guitarist and songwriter!! I will be the first to give you props!!

He is very lucky , We agree on that. ;)

  • @jdg2k6 Playing the guitar backwards is something that 1. a lot of great blues players have done and 2. give the guitar a unique sound. Doyle is far from a "bad" player.

  • @gpair007 BACKWARDS????? left handed and UPSIDE DOWN, a bad player???? are your ears working????? this guy has so much talent when he was born God stamped "TALENTED" on him. u want to see something no one does with a guitar, watch roger waters in the flesh, and watch ANY of his solo parts, me and quite a few others agree, he is incredible.

  • @babyjo21166 He's not the only one I've seen play this way. A guy I went to high school with used to play his guitar the same way (left handed and upside down), just because that's how he first picked the guitar up. I used to jam with him quite a bit. He later went on to play with the Steve Miller Band and recorded with Miller on the "Abracadabra" album.

  • oh HELL YEAH!

  • Doyle!!!! You made it dude. But wait...there's more. Check your messages.

    P.S. The song was "WipeOut"

  • "I'm pretty sure he sold his soul to the devil" jejej ... I agree, awesome

  • Ever try playing with the strings up side down?I don't know how he does it.

  • a shortage of guitar players... if only it was like that now!

  • Still a huge shortage of "good" guitarists.

  • @polyorchids definitely agree man most people just learn on youtube instead of taking lessons and learning to play music and solos most just try to play a fast song as fast as they can like metal.

  • No such thing as selling your soul to the devil, or god gifted talent. Just an individual who found his passion and practiced his ass off - complete dedication.

  • he looks like goku

  • @569013 nah gohan he's got the hair we'll teen gohan

  • How the fuck does he get such a great guitar sound? I do love that muffy creamy sound

  • well, by the sound of it, he already has highly potent pickups. my best guess would be either, just pushing the (stock) volume to the max (causing it to slightly go overdrive) and just add a little muff, or just normal pickups with a muff to the max and just tempering with the amp

  • He´s using an analog man Sunface which is an exact copy of the dallas arbiter fuzz face. (the hendrix fuzz) It´s very sensitive to your guitars volume. to get that sound he has the guitar volume control on about 8 and the fuzz on. He runs the strat through the fuzz into a marshall superbass 100w amp.

The guitar pickups are passive and has low output. This way the amp has to work harder ´cause you´ll to turn it up.

BUT; it´s mostly in the fingers :D

  • Thanks a lot!!!

  • It's a damn fine sound isn' it?

  • Comment removed

  • Strat into a Marshall JVM at the moment. I've got a Fulltone Octafuzz which gives me a pretty nice/nasty sound if you know what I mean!

  • How good is the Octafuzz?

  • Yeah it really is. Sounds soooo......super 70´s like.

With my Tele , Blues Junior and the Artec Classic Fuzztown I am able to push the sound in a kind of likely direction. But Doyle is KING!

  • I'm pretty sure he sold his soul to the devil. You can check out his pedal board if you do a google image search for doyle bramhall rig or doyle bramhall pedal board. Bunch of cool stuff on his sound out there

  • Yeah the devil thing might be true ;)

  • Hmmm...Never heard of that before the only one i really heard of was Robert Johnson i have also heard of people saying the same thing about Clapton, Hendrix, Page but the only 1 i think may be true is Robert Johnson.

  • bramhall is GOD

  • This dude was so cool in the 80s. When he was 14 itis a shame that the teacher he went to told him to reverse the strings. Great teacher tackle ANYTHING. Man I taught a dude that played upside down and I shoulda been paying him ....I learned a lot!!!

  • yea bad teacher i played with a techer for about a half year then belive it or not he coudent teach me anymore beacusse i played so good. PS. its true
