Yes you are missing the point. This gives me all my music, satnav, hands-free phone, car diagnostics etc all in one, plus I can watch movies, browse the net, play games and download stuff while i'm sitting in a car park, away on holiday, stuck in traffic...
That IS a custom built PC! The PC itself is under the passenger seat and connected to a startup shutdown controller, GPS, DVD, Wifi, Bluetooth etc. and this flip out touchscreen.
That front end is Road Runner.
If you want any more details, check out my blog (I've added the link to the description on the right)
No it doesn't. That is the problem with these touchscreens. They are fine for the stock speakers but if you have anything that requires pre-outs you are out of luck as it only has speaker level outputs. Thats why I ran the audio straight from the PC.
excellent!! cheers mate!! i found an American site where i can purchase the unit, but do you know of anywhere else? also if you know where i can download a manual for it to get more info?
I got this one from car-tft dot com and although they are a German site they are very good and supply regular (if slightly broken English formed) emails.
but doesnt that monitor have PC audio-in so the PC audio can be played through the car speakers, like the FM radio function? sorry for all the questions..i wanna do a CarPC install!!

hmmm a guess, so this is connected to a hard drive then?

dude, is that in all in one unit?
that's for pussies. You should build your own and it can be more powerful and upgradeable and much cheaper.

It does, yes. It you want to use your existing speakers you can run the PC audio into the head unit then out via the stock speakers.

wicked system mate, did you have to install a separate system for the sound or is it an all in one monitor?
evilyas 4 years ago
The PC audio goes out via a DAC (digital to analog converter) to my existing ICE.
