I was eating some Kadhi Pakoda, and thought to look up a recipe online. Your video was the first result, and I must say; your recipe looks much much better than the packaged food. I have subscribed to your channel, and will try this myself soon! Thank you for the video.
I saw a lot of videos to learn how to make Kadhi. My wife told me about your videos Manjula ji. And I settled for your recipe! I m going to try it now.
salaam manjula auntie mujhe yeh recipe bahut acha lagta hoon. I am originally from afghanistan and i LOVE this recipe. Greetings to all my indian friends
hello aunty...i love kadhi ..i tried the way u cook.my kadhi was tasty but i tried so many times to cook pakoras but every time it was hard...it dosent look like ur pakora's...i and when i put pakora's into the kadi it become very hard....y is it so...??how to make it soft....
Aunty, I dont get that tangy taste in the kadi.I use desi yogurt from Indian store. Any suggestions? Even tried Lassi and kept it outside overnght but no success.
@meenakshi2102 Leave that yogurt outside the fridge at room temperature for few hours and then make kadhi. You will get that tangy taste. or you can use buttermilk.
@meenakshi2102 so true yaar, wen i went for a visit to Punjab..i tried kadhi chawal almost everywhere and out of all of them only one dhaba gave the the tangy taste! did u find out what the secret is? is it lemon ? i hope that works well with the yohjurt ingredient?? kadhi became my favorite dish after i tasted the tangy one!!!
Kadhi is a typical punjabi dish..and being a punjabi girl i am a big fan and love to cook it . But this is far from the typical north indian kadhi. It has got too much besan and less curd..this much besan will make it too thick. Usually i love your recipes but this was disappointing.
Plain, unflavored, the thicker type the better. Maybe if there's a middle eastern or greek specialty store near you you'll find it there. I use Old Home plain or make my own with whole milk. Very easy and good!
gram flour is the basic ingredient in pakoras. corn flour, you'll neither be able to fry them and in case you can, they will taste YUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!! and the whole dish will be YUCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!
Hi Manjuala ji , This is an awesome video but can u please how to make kadhi with buttermilk n which brand of buttermilk , as i have used cultured borden buttermilk n the buttermilk split , n please tell also how much buttermilk n beasn n water proportions to be taken .thankyou
Interesting. Can you add veggies to the kadhi and keep it traditional? I would have put string beans and carrots, served with plain rice. Also, I would have soaked the pakoras in the kadhi directly, why do you soak them in water?
Hi Manjula! This recipe looks amazing! I have never heard of pakoras that you soaked in water and then squeezed out. I love your videos and I plan to try this recipe. It looked soooo good in the video--I could ALMOST smell it! Your videos are very helpful to someone like me--I LOVE Indian food, but find it very challenging to cook. Your videos have helped me make some great Indian dishes! I thank you for them. I'd like to see some desserts sometime. Thank you, Manjula!
Hi Manjula, I am not a vegetarian, but enjoy your recipes very much. I have tried few of your recipes, and all of them were big hit to my family.Thank you very much for posting these videos.
wow! i have never heard of this kadhi dish before....intersting. will sure try it out! i have one question - could you please tell me the brand name of the cookware you used to make the kadhi. its almost like a kadai we use in india....i have been searching one like this for such a long time. please do reply ASAP. thank you!
Thank you Manjula....these are the sort of recipes I love to see you cook because they are so innovative and unique to Indian cuisine, but uncomplicated.
Good tip at the end to add some water to the ghee/chili powder tempering.
Will be trying this very soon when I make some fresh yogurt. One thing I have noticed with store-bought yogurt is that these sort of kadhi dishes come out a bit too sour for my taste.
can i make this recipe without hing??
