Bea Wainand her husband, a famous radio announcer Andre Baruch had a radio show called Mr. and Mrs. Music. She also sang for many years on The Lucky Strike Hit Parade during the early 40's.
For me there is no more evocative singer than Bea Wain. Every song she sang turned to magic. What always strikes me most is her total professionalism countered by a totally natural feeling and sense of time, meter and rhythm.
In case you'd write to her, tell her from me, that I love her vocals very much. The Hindsight LP with Larry Clinton's Orchestra from 1937 helped me a lot during a hard time of my youth. For more swingin' sounds, feel free to visit my blog anytime.
I'm so happy to hear that you spoke with Bea Wain a few months ago. Do you happen to have her address? I would love to write to her. My father played trumpet in Larry Clinton's band and he and my mother knew Bea Wain well. I still have some 16 mm. films of the band with Bea traveling on a bus. If you know her address, I really would appreciate having it. Thanks.
Wow! You've got some 16 mm films of the tour bus? Larry Clinton was my great uncle, and my father and I are trying to build a library of all things Larry Clinton. I'd sure love to see those films!
This song is in the beginning of Katy Perrys E.T. video.
