Kelly has a better tone in her lower notes and was more emotive than Regine. Regine gets stuck on the technicality of singing and not the meaning of the words. But she can BELT higher than Kelly without straining so I guess she gets points for that.
nope, carrie and regine are better than kelly. can't you hear how hoarsed-sounding, scratchy, and forced kelly sounds when she goes high? she has poor resonance and poor control of her voice. she needs to do some extensive vocal coaching and rest coz her voice is really damaged now. in terms of vocal chest range, technique, power, modulation, dynamics, control, projection, resonance, consistent vibrattos, regine wins.
That "forced" sound is actually a form of singing that Carrie and Regine aren't even capable of. And it IS harder to accomplish and on your vocal chords, so yes, she does need rest. And even without hitting "high" notes, Kelly's head register by itself is still able to compete with Carrie and Regine's full vocal range and can still allow her to sing almost anything. When Carrie steps out of country or Regine's greatest performances aren't covers, perhaps I'll put them on the same level.
lolz, that forced sound means faulty projection and poor resonance. a forced sound means bad technique. hoarsed sounding and scratchy vocals mean poor resonance, control, and projection. unless poor technique is equivalent to good singing style. any girl can sing carrie's and regine's chest notes using head. lolz. the fact that they use chest with power, projection, and resonance and total control makes it superb. not simply the range.

I like Kelly's more. Regine sounded a lot better than I thought she would be I've always loved Kelly's tone more, plus I don't like the way Regine pronounces her words. It may just be an accent but either way it kind of ruins the song for me.
It depends on what she sings... And I'm not bashing her for her accent, I'm sure when she sings songs in her own language she is one of the best, but as I said, I always loved Kelly's natural tone, practically anything she sings I fall in love with.

ampangit ng version ni regine - very pageantry and shallow ang approach. And she obviously doesn't know what the song means. You could hear Kelly's soul with the way she sang it whereas yung kay Regine parang ewan, parang minemorize nya lang ang song without truly knowing it. I think both singers did the song justice, each in their own ways. I have always liked Kellys soulfulness and the Janis Joplin-like quality to it. Regine's voice is clear and cutting.. just as lovely.
They both sing it beautifully, but bring different vocal styles to it. That's really what its all about, no? Otherwise, everyone would just sound the same.
Both equally wonderful renditions, but Regine took it to a higher level. Technically, Regine rendered it better. Regine is known to be that way. She covers songs from US artists & makes them more dificult technically, for her Filipino audience expects her to do so. But just basing it on their performances alone, they both did equally well.
Well, I agree with you on some parts. I agree that she makes it more difficult technically, but not on Mariah Carey's songs...MC's songs are some of the most difficult technically and Regine cant hit notes that mariah can (and also cant switch from chest voice to full voice as well as MC)
Well I agree w/ you that MC's songs are really vocally challenging songs, for even MC herself cannot vocally justify her own songs live. But you see minus the whistle, Regine can sing any MC songs w/ all the vocal calisthenics that MC does, & then makes it even more challenging. Listen to Regine's version of Miss You Most At Christmas & Butterfly. She hit notes in those songs in chest voice that MC didn't. I'm not taking anything away from MC here, this is just my objective observation.

Kelly has a better tone in her lower notes and was more emotive than Regine. Regine gets stuck on the technicality of singing and not the meaning of the words. But she can BELT higher than Kelly without straining so I guess she gets points for that.

nope, carrie and regine are better than kelly. can't you hear how hoarsed-sounding, scratchy, and forced kelly sounds when she goes high? she has poor resonance and poor control of her voice. she needs to do some extensive vocal coaching and rest coz her voice is really damaged now. in terms of vocal chest range, technique, power, modulation, dynamics, control, projection, resonance, consistent vibrattos, regine wins.

That "forced" sound is actually a form of singing that Carrie and Regine aren't even capable of. And it IS harder to accomplish and on your vocal chords, so yes, she does need rest. And even without hitting "high" notes, Kelly's head register by itself is still able to compete with Carrie and Regine's full vocal range and can still allow her to sing almost anything. When Carrie steps out of country or Regine's greatest performances aren't covers, perhaps I'll put them on the same level.

lolz, that forced sound means faulty projection and poor resonance. a forced sound means bad technique. hoarsed sounding and scratchy vocals mean poor resonance, control, and projection. unless poor technique is equivalent to good singing style. any girl can sing carrie's and regine's chest notes using head. lolz. the fact that they use chest with power, projection, and resonance and total control makes it superb. not simply the range.

Well Kelly really set the road for Carrie and others. Kelly won with like, half the audience (which is 10 or 15 million) at the season 1 finale where Carrie had double that before she even got any camera time. Kelly's the one that proved the show doesn't just produce wash ups. And Carrie's success is mainly in the U.S. because country music is popular and appeals to a wide number of people, Kelly is the worlwide success. They're both great, but I think Kelly is more dynamic.

ampangit ng version ni regine - very pageantry and shallow ang approach. And she obviously doesn't know what the song means. You could hear Kelly's soul with the way she sang it whereas yung kay Regine parang ewan, parang minemorize nya lang ang song without truly knowing it. You could hear a lot of shades, colors and hues in Kelly's voice whereas kay Regine it's sooo bland and very technical. I'd rather listen to Kitchie Nadal's indepth approach to songs rather than Regine crap. Sorry.

I think both singers did the song justice, each in their own ways. I have always liked Kellys soulfulness and the Janis Joplin-like quality to it. Regine's voice is clear and cutting.. just as lovely.
They both sing it beautifully, but bring different vocal styles to it. That's really what its all about, no? Otherwise, everyone would just sound the same.

Both equally wonderful renditions, but Regine took it to a higher level. Technically, Regine rendered it better. Regine is known to be that way. She covers songs from US artists & makes them more dificult technically, for her Filipino audience expects her to do so. But just basing it on their performances alone, they both did equally well.

Well, I agree with you on some parts. I agree that she makes it more difficult technically, but not on Mariah Carey's songs...MC's songs are some of the most difficult technically and Regine cant hit notes that mariah can (and also cant switch from chest voice to full voice as well as MC)

Well I agree w/ you that MC's songs are really vocally challenging songs, for even MC herself cannot vocally justify her own songs live. But you see minus the whistle, Regine can sing any MC songs w/ all the vocal calisthenics that MC does, & then makes it even more challenging. Listen to Regine's version of Miss You Most At Christmas & Butterfly. She hit notes in those songs in chest voice that MC didn't. I'm not taking anything away from MC here, this is just my objective observation.

I don't think you know what a karaoke singer is emailremarii. Karaoke singers are found in karaoke bars. Mostly amateur singers who cannot sing. Regine is a professional singer who's been around even before karaoke was introduced here in the US. I would even consider the thought of Regine being a copycat, but a karaoke singer? NO. Peace.
