And no Spartan ever jumped out of an airplane. Plus Spartans were an anti-democratic, slave society - just the opposite of what SEALS fight for.

Mogroov we didn't exactly loose because we didn't exactly win. The problem with the invasion and occupation of Iraq was that we had no clear goals. We acted like an occupying force in their country and they resented us for it. We weren't defeated when we left either, I believe we had an even greater victory knowing to get out and let the Iraqi Armed Forces manage their country.

@CateieTheNinja It's not the training or combat you should worry about anyway... My husband trained with a couple SEALS in his early 20's... he passed away in his sleep a couple weeks ago. Love him everyday, no matter where he is.

I'm just gonna dump this right here: I am sooooo tired of people saying which Military branch is "better". obviousely, any SF detatchment is the best, otherwise, all standard combatants are trained the same. people are so ignorant about it, and it becomes very annoying.

The SAS are the no1 SF unit in the world, they were the oldest and first of their kind, everyone based their training from the SAS as a template. For those who don't know, there are competitions held for SF units & to date the 22 Regt SAS have never been beaten. Even people serving in other countries SF Units will agree, if they answer honestly. If the S**t hit the fan, the no1 choice for help would be 22 REGT SAS British Army over anyone else. SEALs to the Spartans everyone is always like " No Spartans are better." I am not saying that they are better i am connecting them because Their training is similar and they both fought in small numbers. @KIngAragorn100 Actually, the SEALs are more versatile than the Spartans because the Spartans were never much of a naval power. The only way they were able to finally beat the Athenian navy during the Peloponnesian was when they finally caught the majority of the Athenian ships on the beach at Aegospotami. And no Spartan ever jumped out of an airplane. Plus Spartans were an anti-democratic, slave society - just the opposite of what SEALS fight for.

Oh my god are you serious? im not not talking about what they did. You do not know a thing about SEAL training. Their training is based off of the Spartan's Agoge training course becuase it was very brutal and physical demanding just like the SEAL training. The both fight in small numbers against larger forces using tactical advantages. That is what i mean

@sortafly I agree with you in one thing. Spartans were anti-democratic. But not a slave society. Slaves were the prisoners. Spartans were living in the city. They had equal rights. I mean girl and boy had equal rights. Spartans' society was the fairest and the best in Greece, before democracy came out. My oppinion is that instead of locking or killing prisoners of war they were using them. I really don't know English good enough, but i hope you realised what i am trying to say.

If anything, Athens wasn't exactly democratic either - sure, they had elections but anyone who wasn't a male Athenian citizen was basically treated like dirt. Regarding fair society - interestingly, they had two kings to rule together.

First off we won the war in vietnam, we didnt win it politically but we won every major military engagement in the war.period. n oour SF became legendary in that war. O.E.C. failed because lack of experience with our helicopter pilots. And we won in Iraq, our goal there was to find WMD's, there were none but we still took down a tyrant and tried to instill democracy in an unfair country. Mogroov we didn't exactly loose because we didn't exactly win. The problem with the invasion and occupation of Iraq was that we had no clear goals. We acted like an occupying force in their country and they resented us for it. We weren't defeated when we left either, I believe we had an even greater victory knowing to get out and let the Iraqi Armed Forces manage their country.

@mike04834 Mike is not carrying a SAW although it looks much like one. The SEAL teams has the MK-46 or SAW a 5.56 belted feed automatic weapon and the MK-48 AW 7.62 belt feed weapon...The MK-48 is what he carried during the entire deployment because it offered a larger round.
