I saw these guys at the Monsters of Rock in Buffalo and they were great. They had that Zeppelin sound and they held their own with Metallica, Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken!!
Kingdom CLONE! I have no issue with a band being so blatantly influenced by Led Zeppelin. But I remember the guys in Kingdom Come used to deny being influenced by Zeppelin. That is insulting.
They do sound like Led Zeppelin but they do have there own sound they have a unique sound and the singers voice is different from Robert Plant but is great

this is a kick-ass band! very cool video, song and a great album. they are very under-rated. they were good enough to headline a monsters of rock before. metal lives!
oh and this has alittle cult of personality sound to it so they ripped them off too haha how dare they. No one ever has a song or beat or rythmn that sounds like another :)
@ACslookin "Get It On" & "Cult of Personality" came out in the same year, so I don't think there was any plagiarism by Kingdom Come. But, I do hear the similarities now that you mention it.
Yea these guys rock. I love zeppelin and it's obvious that kingdom come was very inspired by zep. It does suck that they screwed them over because I feel like hey at least an awesome band with a guy who could sing so called (ripped you off) I write songs and poems and when I sing them in my head they sound alot like zeppelin guns n roses or smashing pumpkins because they inspired me since I was young. So I understand why they'd have that sound. I agree with boinkburger they're a cleaner zep.
Led Zeppelin ran on plagiarized material for quite a while, but nobody seems to mind. After they went to shit, it only makes sense that some newcomers would step in to bring that style back. Is this song a blatant ripoff of Kashmir? Yeah. But does it still kick ass? Damn right!
@progrocker69 The first i heard this i thought it was Led Zeppelin, singer sounds almost the same, thick guitar sound, rumbling bass, and drums that sound a lot Bonzo. It's pretty impressive.
You're right to say that everybody who comes along builds on somebody else's stuff, sometimes more obviously than others. (Unless you're Bjork or a few others, I guess--but even they have influences). As for Kashmir, I don't think it's much of a ripoff at all, because the idea of an ascending line starting from a fifth isn't exactly new, and the line here isn't the same kind of scale anyway. I think Zep purists just like to get their panties in a wad.
@progrocker69 You're right. Most people don't know that Zeppelin didn't give credit to the artists they covered on their 1st cd until decades later. Songs like "Babe I'm Gonna leave you" was a cover and they didn't give credit or royalties to the author. Not cool.
Decent 80s hair-rock band, but JEEZ, could you rip-off Zeppelin any more? The over-the-bar guitar phrase on the verse is Kashmir, the vocalist is doing his best Plant imitation, and the drum solo at the end is virtually the same solo Bonham played on Rock n Roll. I would be embarassed if I were a former Kingdom Come band member looking back now at these videos.
@danielsd92 really??? you are going to start that old controversy? When this came out that is all anyone talked about. Did anyone ever mention that Judas Priest "Touch of Evil" and Def Leppards "Pour Some Sugar on Me" sound uncanny familiar? NO! Get over it, there are only so many damn chord progressions and something is going to sound like another eventually.... at least they PLAY INSTRUMENTS!
I don't think that is something bad, I mean, Zeppelin is the best band in the world with The Beatles and Black Sabbath, so don't stress man, just enjoy music and drink something.
@danielsd92 no biggie lol just seems like this group got a raw deal because they were "trying to be Zep" it aggravated me back then for reasons I mentioned. a lot of songs have the same sounds but these guys were picked on for it..... lame

I'll tell you of a great fucking rock band. The White Stripes. Don't believe me, just look up "Ball and Biscuit" on here. RHCP/John Frusciante's stuff is also excellent, but is definitely more "alt." -- not so much their live shows. Also, Radio Moscow is real heavy stuff. Early Black Keys rock, too.
I'm getting REALLY tired of all the people on these videos saying METAL PEOPLE UNITE! When you don't do crap. There's a FEW people (like me) still making this music. AM I GREAT? Heck no...am I better than lady gaga?
If you don't like my music at least get on board with a band that you do like. Or, you know, shut up and live with the hip hop. It's OUR fault that we let music get into the state it's in.
its funny though cause even led zep had massive critics of rippin off the blues so your right its a vicious cycle that goes through every decade. i dunno kingdom come wasnt so bad it definately was an album that i think could be replayed quite a few times without getting stale. not many bands at all that had a solid album from start to finish hell and over the years its gotten worse and worse when from 3 or 4 good songs on an album to now these crap bands cant even write one. sad really
There is a not-so-fine line between "clearly influenced by" and "blatant rip-off of". Black Sabbath was clearly influenced by Led Zeppelin. The Black Crows straddle the line (with regards to The Stones). Kingdom Come actually extends the category to "embarrassingly blatant rip-off of".
I remember when I first heard this I wanted to throw up because it was a cookie cutter "formula" song. But looking back, you can't fault these guys, that's the pressure the record labels put them under: "sound like Zep, keep it 5 minutes or less for radio, make it catchy, and shoot an MTV video where you look like a bunch of posers that chicks will dig." Heavy metal WAS pop music in the mid- to late-80s.
these guys were good ,and lets not forget jason bonham who is playing the drums is john bonhams son .,.....who cares if they had a zepplin sound to them
These guys got shitted on for sounding to similar to Zeppelin. Yet, bands like Wolfmother, The Answer, and Parlor Mob get praised for doing that. Did people think differently back then?
I find it very interesting in history that they were given a bad rap for sounding like Zeppelin and yet, there were other groups like Whitesnake that no one said a word and the influence was obviously there.
Not to mention all those power pop groups that had some element of the Beatles. As a musician, I know your influences are always part of you.
A take of of the classic "Kashmir"....NO!!! I wont have that!!! There's that fuckwit, gobshite band from Eastbourne!!!!
What a bunch of utter bollocks. There's no law against this, but we are now writing the books to make it illegal...I have just two words for this shite...yes, and shite!!
I always found it funny that Kingdom come got such a bad rap. "Beware the Led clones" was the warning. What about the Zeppelin family business? That's all this is. I'm sure Bonham, Plant and the guys had an issue with this it would have never been released. There wasn't this much controversy when Julian Lennon came out sounding like his dad.
I don't see a Led Zepplin rip off. I see a pretty good band, using a singer that looks like Richard Marx. Who can sing. Let's stop bitching. If we hadn't griped so much , they might have done something.
ha..haha..hahahahahahah.hahahahahahahahahahahahaha OMG ok ok, i admit there were MANY zeppelin clones in the 80's but Kingdom Clone err umm, i mean Kindgom Come is the most shameless rip off EVER..this song has Kashmir written all over it..
I think Zep is awesome has a special place.... kingdome come is a different element to the sound of rock....sure they will sound like zep all they like because zep was first remember that people.....but i hear two different bands they might somehow be similar but not close.....
Name a 80's hair band that really wasn't a Zep rip off is some way or another.....jeez, who cares. A lot of Sabbath rip offs too, but as long as they rock that is all that matters. This isn't one of my fave bands of the 80's, but they still rock it out. What do we have now a days? Crap music. Sure, a lot of the bands in the 80's sound alike, but then again so do the bands of the 70's and so on. Each decade creates a sound and the one we are has failed...actually the past 15 years has failed us.
@TheProudWhite , although there are some exceptions (few) I agree, I'm Lovin' K.O.L. rock with a Nashville sorta southern rock twang, I see that as original.
@TheProudWhite Spoken like a true rock dinosaur. There's been PLENTY of groundbreaking, original bands in the last decade. You should try the internet sometime
@Strizz484 shouldn't have to try the internet. Thanks to kids of the past 20 years and their love of the almighty "single song" I cannot go to my local K-mart or record store and buy an album FULL of quality material. Great bands out there now? Sure. But why should I have to search for them? Because kids now tell record companies that they don't want to hear it so it (decent music) is hard to find at a store. I used to be able to tell what band was what just by hearing them. Now most are alike.
@TheProudWhite go to amazon all the bands that are not pop are there i support rock n metal and buy records thats the same as a dose of drugs and on the plus side there cheap all the old school bands recs are on on amazon i buy there all the time and get rare records for cheap in great condition

Top 40 radio and rock radio are full of so much crap today it is pitiful. Most stations no longer have dj's. they have a pre-programmed set the put in and that's it. As long as the kids keep buying the junk that is flooding the airwaves the record companies will keep pushing it down our throats. And I am not talking Bieber or Lady Gaga. There will always be bubble gum music, I am talking rock and metal. When is the last time anyone heard a killer riff? Or an amazing guitar/drum solo in concert?
@TheProudWhite heh, no offense but i can name fifty hard rock groups from the 80's that had nothing to do with zep, and despite the fact that these guys admitted happily to ripping off zep, i think they rock, so who gives a rats ass, shut up and enjoy the song
@TheProudWhite oh yeah, forgot to mention, speaking of rip offs, you know what percentage of songs zep put together that were in fact stolen outright from other artists? you should look it up, i just get sick of the whole, zep are athe kings and all that bs, they were just another group
@TheProudWhite Cliches, as you speak of in your posting, if good enough, create a genre. And every era in music history has them. If they didn't we wouldn't have had/have any genres. The hard-rock bands of the '80s tend to be called out more because it had more mainstream appeal and longevity then most - if not all other - rock genres... ever.
@TheProudWhite They say that Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. What better bands to imitate than Zep or Sabbath. That said, Gary Moore w/ Ozzy song "Led Clones" comes to mind. Loved the '80's. Cheers, toke, bump, drop.
The bands in the '70s didn't really sound alike at all. The Who, Led Zeppelin, Funkadelic, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grateful Dead, early Queen, they all had an entirely different sound. Fuck the '80s. It was beginning of the end.
@TheProudWhite John Melloncamp has told us what to do, play guitar....write some shit that sounds good to you holmslessness. U might be the next great rock n roll song writter to ever live. Just keep it simple
Bashing Kingdom Come for LZ similarities is unfair. Not every band can have an original sound and stand out. And in order for that to usually happen requires some groundbreaking. The ones that come forth with something sonicaly refreshing are going to have their own adherents. Led Zep and Black Sabbath both have hordes of influenced and popular bands in their wake. Let them be. Obviously they loved Led Zep and wanted to play that sound. No big deal!
@ohgrx wtf do you mean "WERE a Led Zeppelin cover band"? that's ALL they ever were. the type of ppl who still like this are in their 40s, losing their hair, drinking cheap beer, and thinking abt how good life was before they turned 25 and got even stupider than they were in the early-mid 80s.
"Obviously it can get to the point where it gets past being a compliment, and it can be rather annoying, when you've got things like Kingdom Come, actually ripping riffs right off, that's a different thing altogether." - Jimmy Page
@ohgrx I love Jimmy Page and Led Zep don't get me wrong, but as many songs as they have ripped off from people before I don't think he has much of a right to blame other people for doing it.
@KramerNCharvel Hey Knucklehead...Zeppelin didn't try to sound EXACTLY like another band...Your reference to Zep "ripping people off"..must elude to early 20th Century Blues musicians....They ( Zeppelin ) sound NOTHING like Robert Johnson or Muddy Waters, etc......Still...this song kicks ass!
@mjw9363 I guess you didn't know that Whole Lotta Love, I Can't Quite You Baby, Dazed and Confused among others were all songs other artists before Zeppelin wrote yet Zeppelin played them slightly different and claimed them as their own. They didn't admit they stole them until they lost in court...
@KramerNCharvel I guess YOU don't know what "slightly different" means, numb nuts...Zeppelin's versions sound NOTHING like those originals.....NOTHING
@mjw9363 How retarted can you get? Dazed and Confused is the EXACT same just with more of a rock and roll sound and so does a couple of the others (did you even bother to read about it or listen to any of the tunes?). Zeppelin STOLE it, somebody else wrote it and recorded it and Zeppelin denied that saying that it was their own and today they will admit to that.
@KramerNCharvel That LAME ass version by Jake Holmes sounds NOTHING like Zeppelins version IDIOT..NOTHING...day and night...couldn't be more different...and it was COMMON knowledge it existed as a song before Zeppelin covered it..MORON....they never denied that fact WHAT SO EVER...the Yarbirds had remade the song before forming Zeppelin ,ya idiot.......AGAIN you fucking DUMB ASS....Holmes "version" sounds NOTHING like Zeppelin's....flat out..only a fool would think so
I saw these guys at the Monsters of Rock in Buffalo and they were great. They had that Zeppelin sound and they held their own with Metallica, Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken!!

Ok, it's obvious they are influenced by Zep. Wow, like most of the 80s hairbands (who isnt?), but they are damn good at what they do!
MoltenGoodness 5 months ago
Oh man, I used to have this cassette. LOved them. They got a bad rep for sounding like Led Zepplin but I still loved them.

The real knock was that this was a Kashmir knock-off. I liked them but to basically do Kashmir over again? That was a little much.

These guys got shitted on for sounding to similar to Zeppelin. Yet, bands like Wolfmother, The Answer, and Parlor Mob get praised for doing that. Did people think differently back then?
greenparrot5 5 months ago
I find it very interesting in history that they were given a bad rap for sounding like Zeppelin and yet, there were other groups like Whitesnake that no one said a word and the influence was obviously there.
Not to mention all those power pop groups that had some element of the Beatles. As a musician, I know your influences are always part of you.

A take of of the classic "Kashmir"....NO!!! I wont have that!!! There's that fuckwit, gobshite band from Eastbourne!!!!
What a bunch of utter bollocks. There's no law against this, but we are now writing the books to make it illegal...I have just two words for this shite...yes, and shite!!

kingdom come ripping off zeppelin way before wolfmother....dam hipsters.....lol just kidding love all 3 bands.....
jjklmn 6 months ago
No, they were not Led Zeppelin, but they still rocked the shit out of this style. Zep wasn't doing it anymore, so why the fuck not?

hummm almost like kashmir by zeppelin in parts of the song ?
orioncon 6 months ago
come to find out led zeppelin pipped off all kinds of bands...
NSlover123 6 months ago
I always found it funny that Kingdom come got such a bad rap. "Beware the Led clones" was the warning. What about the Zeppelin family business? That's all this is. I'm sure Bonham, Plant and the guys had an issue with this it would have never been released. There wasn't this much controversy when Julian Lennon came out sounding like his dad.

I don't see a Led Zepplin rip off. I see a pretty good band, using a singer that looks like Richard Marx. Who can sing. Let's stop bitching. If we hadn't griped so much , they might have done something.

TheProudWhite 7 months ago
@TheProudWhite , although there are some exceptions (few) I agree, I'm Lovin' K.O.L. rock with a Nashville sorta southern rock twang, I see that as original.
TheAirassaultvet 6 months ago
@TheProudWhite Spoken like a true rock dinosaur. There's been PLENTY of groundbreaking, original bands in the last decade. You should try the internet sometime
Strizz484 5 months ago
@Strizz484 shouldn't have to try the internet. Thanks to kids of the past 20 years and their love of the almighty "single song" I cannot go to my local K-mart or record store and buy an album FULL of quality material. Great bands out there now? Sure. But why should I have to search for them? Because kids now tell record companies that they don't want to hear it so it (decent music) is hard to find at a store. I used to be able to tell what band was what just by hearing them. Now most are alike.

TheProudWhite 5 months ago
@TheProudWhite I hear ya! I agree 100%
jmdrummer7 5 months ago
@TheProudWhite heh, no offense but i can name fifty hard rock groups from the 80's that had nothing to do with zep, and despite the fact that these guys admitted happily to ripping off zep, i think they rock, so who gives a rats ass, shut up and enjoy the song
skytale35 5 months ago
@TheProudWhite oh yeah, forgot to mention, speaking of rip offs, you know what percentage of songs zep put together that were in fact stolen outright from other artists? you should look it up, i just get sick of the whole, zep are athe kings and all that bs, they were just another group
skytale35 5 months ago
@TheProudWhite Cliches, as you speak of in your posting, if good enough, create a genre. And every era in music history has them. If they didn't we wouldn't have had/have any genres. The hard-rock bands of the '80s tend to be called out more because it had more mainstream appeal and longevity then most - if not all other - rock genres... ever.
Krys24Adam 5 months ago
@TheProudWhite They say that Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. What better bands to imitate than Zep or Sabbath. That said, Gary Moore w/ Ozzy song "Led Clones" comes to mind. Loved the '80's. Cheers, toke, bump, drop.
LibertiesDefender 5 months ago 2
@TheProudWhite

If you can't understand what real music is then stick to the douche bag biz. A lot of pussies need douching out there.

KramerNCharvel 9 months ago
@KramerNCharvel Hey Knucklehead...Zeppelin didn't try to sound EXACTLY like another band...Your reference to Zep "ripping people off"..must elude to early 20th Century Blues musicians....They ( Zeppelin ) sound NOTHING like Robert Johnson or Muddy Waters, etc......Still...this song kicks ass!
mjw9363 9 months ago
@mjw9363 I guess you didn't know that Whole Lotta Love, I Can't Quite You Baby, Dazed and Confused among others were all songs other artists before Zeppelin wrote yet Zeppelin played them slightly different and claimed them as their own. They didn't admit they stole them until they lost in court...
KramerNCharvel 9 months ago
@KramerNCharvel I guess YOU don't know what "slightly different" means, numb nuts...Zeppelin's versions sound NOTHING like those originals.....NOTHING
mjw9363 9 months ago
@mjw9363 How retarted can you get? Dazed and Confused is the EXACT same just with more of a rock and roll sound and so does a couple of the others (did you even bother to read about it or listen to any of the tunes?). Zeppelin STOLE it, somebody else wrote it and recorded it and Zeppelin denied that saying that it was their own and today they will admit to that.
KramerNCharvel 9 months ago
@KramerNCharvel That LAME ass version by Jake Holmes sounds NOTHING like Zeppelins version IDIOT..NOTHING...day and night...couldn't be more different...and it was COMMON knowledge it existed as a song before Zeppelin covered it..MORON....they never denied that fact WHAT SO EVER...the Yarbirds had remade the song before forming Zeppelin ,ya idiot.......AGAIN you fucking DUMB ASS....Holmes "version" sounds NOTHING like Zeppelin's....flat out..only a fool would think so
