@videogamester07 not the voice, it's the face. They don't have the money to do a good 3d rig for the mugging and faces he's known for. Maybe if they just went with a cartoon it'd work out more but even then it doesn't look like they'd have the money to get a good animator that can draw the faces without turning to mud.
I heavily disagree with nobody else but Jim being Ernest. That is just as deconstructive as this terrible fake Ernest. In an effort to BE constructive: His "eeeeew" is too bland and he just doesn't have the voice high enough, the character is not lovable but annoying, note that he doesn't even use proper Ernest lines and mood. This is just not Ernest. I will not say that a person can't have Ernest's "soul" but they must understand Ernest first. I just want Jim to have a PROPER legacy.
Jim Varney never turned down a commercial. It was a character built on hundreds upon hundreds of commercials. Before Ernest P. Worrell was a star, he hocked everything you can imagine. The character was created for Varney by an advertising man. So really the best was to honor the character of Ernest P. Worrell is to let it live on serving it's intended purpose. They used to film 25 commercials a day, for everything. Jim didn't care. He was a Shakespearian actor it made no difference to him
If any body makes a parody of this, I would just love to see the new animated Ernest get run over by the car that Vern's driving. Make him flatter than the 'Pancakes on Parade'. But don't take out any slack.
No, you just didn't draw a naked lady on that glass. Jim Varney's 'Ernest' would've NEVER done that in a commercial. How rude, disrespectful and disgusting. I loved Jim Varney's commercials and movies because they were clean. Don't start making him into some kind of pervert. You're totally ruining JIm's good name. Shame on you guys. For shame, I say.
hmm this would have worked had the jokes been better. . It was a combination of many people that made this so great, but ultimatly it was Jim Varney's acting of John Cherry's writng and cinamatography that made the comercials work. Cherry just didn't use other charcter actors which he did have but chose only to use them in tv and films and relied too much just on Jim.
I don't know why but on a completly different topic from this whhen ever I see or hear the word "blasphemy" the first thing that goes accross my mind is "this is blasphemy! This is madness!", "madness?...THIS IS SPARTA!". It's really wierd. But yeah, the real Ernest is a lot better.
I think this is the biggest problem people have with these new commercials. Varney perfected this character. Everyone else will be a pale imitation at best.
@seerockcity27 Jim's 'Ernest' is still making people laugh. This...this is just plain revolting. It's not necessarily just Ernest that we love but the fact that is was Jim who made that character who he is. Jim & Ernest R the lovable ones. It doesn't matter how he's animated, who speaks 4 him & if an actor puts on the clothes. It will never be the same. It was Jim we've come 2 admire 4 all his work & dedication 2 this character even when I knew he wanted 2 do more than just the Ernest role.
They should have never made this. the new guy will never live up to Jim Varney and it's a lame adaptation of the character. A pox upon the houses of the people that made this.
he cant even do jims famous "ewwwwww" right

This is the exact same old commercial with crappy cgi and a crappy Jim Varney impersonator. Same linchpins and everything.

This doesn't sit right, vern not someone that is ever seen and yet they show him. :/
These aren't that good without a real actor and they can't do it without Jim so it can never be as good as old school Ernest.

Haha! God, I am so tempted to make a parody vid of the 300 trailer with Ernest clips. That's a parody of it I bet hasn't been done yet. ^_^

LOL, I will. Don't expect it for quite a while if I do though. I don't have internet access very often at the moment.
I'm just glad to know there are still so many other Ernest fans out there nowadays. ^_^

The only person who can do Ernest is Jim Varney, atleast let his character rest in piece with him....

I don't think that Jim would want his character to die, but I also think he'd want to find someone who wouldn't run it into the ground.

If they respect the memory and legacy of Jim the'll knock it off with the animators and imitators.

Don't you think that Jim would love to know that even in death...the character he perfected....is still making people laugh?
