Also apaches can withstand 30mms over the cockpit area and most of the body, the Hind is only proofed against .50 BMG and glancing 20mm rounds.

A big fat fuck. the apache by itself is a great attack helicopter, probably not the best, but with the LONGBOW that huge round thing on the top of the rotors, makes it the most incredible helicopter ever built. Research the longbow, it by itself has more technological innovations in it than the whole helicopter arsenal the soviet union has.

@popsimon6 Apache deserves to be in first place. Or either AH-1 cobra,UH-60, CH-47 or huey which are all american made. Not because americans make best helicopter but they use them more often than other countries. All Mil-28,Mil-24, Mil-8 Ka-52 and Ka-50, Eurocopter and vast number of others are very well made machines but all of them saw not so much of service in real war.

They just can't get top marks for innovation, fear factor and service length.

Number 1 gun and number 1 tank were russian.

@ppp9922 Ofcourse if 3000 T-34 would come head to head with 3000 M1's. T34s would be destroyed in no time and probably none of Abrams would be lost. Simply because of it's superior range, cannon, armor etc. But it was given No.1 rating for same reasons as AK. It was easy to produce, reliable, had good service length and it was effective. If they would give scores which weapon is best now, AK-47 probably wouldn't come into top-10. Because as legendary as it is rifles like HK416/7,G36 are better.

Both machines are very different but it is almost as deadly the Kamov, such as Apache... however, because the service time and results in war, apache deserves to more #1, ahead your wonderful Russian helicopter. I personally would like the introduction of the Kamov´s rotor effective system on the Apache

Mi-28 and KA-50 both operationally deployed in Chechnya. The Eurotiger has not seen combat as far as I know, and neither the Augusta. But the Rooivalk has seen some skirmishes unless I am mistaken.
