I'm not sure I get how people gripe about her voice. Yes, it's different, but technically there's nothing wrong with it. She's hitting all the pitches she wants. Her voice is intrinsically tied to her music, like Waits or Dylan or whoever.

Oh dear Don.

Everybody criticised Billie Holiday saying that her voice was awful. A lot of people think that Frank Sinatra isn't technically a very good singer and that Bob Dylan was a great writer but everyone else seems to be able to perform his songs better than he ever could... 'cos y'know what? People have different tastes, so get over it.

I heard Joanna on SIRIUS and fell in love. Her voice is amazing. Sorta a mix of Bjork and Jolie Holland. Unfortuantely she was too close to the mic attimes in this video. Still amazing.
