  • The guitar riddim should be dry. No reverb. The sustain sound comes from the piano (also dry)

  • Naaiz!

  • Poor chuck he's called dumb and tasked to go up and down FOREVER

  • that, actually was helpful - i was actually looking for that "down/up chucking" explanation - in reference to Billionaire - so it has been an answer and a half! greatly explained! Kudos!

  • 240p.. We meet again O.o

  • mr. you know :D ...great

  • Cheers, that's great fun!

  • I like your guitar lesson, I'll try it ... :)

  • 95 peps cant do the up chuck!

  • can you imagine bob marley with jimmy hendrix

it will end racisim on the world

  • T_T i cant do it

  • I've had this 10 min obsession with the way he says " *click* uhhhK " at the beginning....

  • very good i have been trying to play a guiter but i cant even make one chord could you just make a video of showing all the chords and stuff cheers your are brilliant on the guiter :)

  • hey this is good stuff. we use ska in our music, check us out :) nice lesson!

  • sound fantastic!:D

  • up down up down up down up down

  • man this is great, exactly the thing I needed. thanks for uploading

  • Im a songwriter/vocalist in a reggae band but going to start playing the skank every now and then in songs so need to tighten it up! check us out, brand new reggae band based in brighton england. Search Def City Collect on facebook :)

  • Music does not see the color of someones skin..come together in peace

  • Well let's see... one of my songs is played in A and E. Which chords should I play for an upstroke guitar sound? Simple barret chords don't actually give me... the thing!

  • @LastBornProductions for a song in A major/minor scale you would use A, D and E7 chords. You can of course fool around with these... for E major/minor it would be E, A and B7. :)

Try to do this progression: A, D, D4, E7, E, A7, B, B7. Dunno how it sounds.. but hey, you can try it. :)

  • @antieverythingCz Thank you very much. That's exactly the type of guidance I was hoping for! I will try these soon! :)

  • thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuu man

  • why doesnt he ever blink?

  • Shoutout from the ATX! Thanks for the lesson.

  • what kind of guitar i he playing

  • Judging the book by it's cover is still a stupid thing to do. Always has been and always will be.

"and harry doesn't mind if he doesn't make the scene" - Dire Straits

  • Thanx Man. I have it im use to play métal and stuff and that was hard to learn reggae/ska but i havé it !

    Peaac

  • good teacher for this

  • You know how y'all are funny with all that colour-race things, seriously by still talking about it you're making it worse. I'm used to differences and foxy, black, blond, Asian, Jewish people don't bother me. It's the Americans who showed me what is a Jewish look... that's strange... before that I just thought that's a dude with a big-ass nose... Humans are weird...

  • does anyone know where to find the chord diagram for the chords he uses in the beginning

  • lost the reggae feel at 2:40

  • he's doin it wrong

  • @CookieBoy4000 Hes doing grate

  • @DarkestraOrchestra erm, no... that guy shouldn't be playing reggae.

  • @CookieBoy4000 have you ever heard of the lion and the emperor? theyre a white reggae band. and theyre great.

  • @Metalhead12828 im not saying that it's because he's white... I play in a very successful reggae band and know tons of reggae bands with only white members. But still it helps if your black :P

  • Fuck you! you make it look so easy and i still cant play this shit half as good as you after loads of practice (yes, i suck).

  • @Afrokamelffs it depends how long you've been playing it can take a while for strumming to become fluid... practice it amongst other stuff then you won't be annoyed when one thing doesn't go right!

  • @Afrokamelffs And why fuck u?

  • Thanks for the lesson. I just got a little better at guitar.

  • 420 thousands views....hmm

  • thanks for the free lesson. as a clothing expert i would like to give you some advise in return... don't wear that backwards hat, it makes you look extremely stupid ;)

  • @woekers as an 'expert' expert, what the fuck is a clothing expert, listen carefully, YOU ARE A PRICK

  • dum chuck, dum chuck.. dum chuckdum chuck

must have been pretty good lesson cos i was ignoring it after a few minutes carried away with pissing around with a rhythm

    cheers

  • What do you mean by a "kill"?

  • Actually it's downchuck and downstroke for a reggae skunk. Upchucka is basically for a mute. Downupchucka and Jah, Downupchucka and Jah.....

Check Bob Marley's Live Jamming. In ska music, upchucka is for a mute cutting and downstroke is for making a note. Of course there is an exceptional though.

  • nunchuck

  • you are awesome!!

  • sounds good man

  • I'm black and I appreciate the lesson. What's up with the racism. Let's come together aint that what Bob Marley was striving for?

  • @russianspiesx Oh yeah, just like MJ did it. Handle it with L O V E.

  • @russianspiesx russians arent black

  • @russianspiesx exactly man ! Peace and unity from greece ! :)

  • @russianspiesx yes exactly, A few fools make lots of noise. please ignore ;)

  • @russianspiesx Rastafari is pretty much all about racism against whites :P

  • @russianspiesx Amen my friend..

  • @russianspiesx no, he strived for marijuana XD

  • @NeurovisionGorn no, thats what the rest of the ignorant world thinks he strived for. he strived for peace between all people, marijuana smoking is just a part of rastafari way of life, granted, its NOT THE ONLY THING rasta stands for.

  • @russianspiesx huh? what you being black has to do with anything?

  • @russianspiesx - Well said! We're all one ....one love!

  • @russianspiesx hahha yourr black!!! ahahahha

  • @Solidjesse HAHAHAHAH Yeah its pretty funny isnt it!!!

  • @Macsk8ing Hilarious....

  • @russianspiesx peace! smoke weed! Love!

  • @russianspiesx thanks very good teaching

  • @spurskimo Its pointless to argue with you. Seeing as that bullshit, racist rhetoric seems to be well rammed into your ignorant head. However, while your on the topic of reggae and punk lets not forget that Bob Marley himself loved the idea of mixing the genres:

"I'm saying, The Wailers will be there

    The Dammed, The Jam,The Clash

    Maytals will be there

    Dr. Feelgood too, ooh"

  • @spurskimo Racist, Oh and if you didn't know Bob Marley was half white. Therefore he has the right to make this lesson.

  • @spurskimo You posted this same comment on the vid i watched right before i watched this one. stop being racist dude, if u even listened to this music, reggae music, music that was created by black people than you dont even listen to the message of alot reggae songs promote, peace and unity. nobody is trying to steal anyones culture my friend, rather they are embracing other cultures. Like myself i am white/Portuguese and i love Reggae/Dancehall and its my favorite music, check my channel, BLESS

  • @spurskimo yeah well ima whachu call a white devil, and i bleed the blues homeslice!!

  • Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much!

  • obrigado( thanks teatcher ) greetings from brasil !!!!!

  • THANK YOU FOR GIVING THIS TECHNIQUE

  • merci, thanks a lot

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!i have no rhythm!!!!!!!!!!

  • practice is all it takes mate ( :

  • @ThisisPunk Very true :)

  • But but.. it sounds somuch better in tripple feel!

  • and the question is...

    Could you be love ??

  • Thanks for the video man, its great

  • i am sure bob marley couldn t have done a lesson like that, because he played what he felt in his heart...this is just theoretical stuff which only leads to imitation, but not creation

  • you gotta be mozart if u dont learn a little theoretical stuff before u play what u feel in ur heart

  • did mozart have lessons?

fact is...the most revolutionary music came from "untrained" people...hendrix, lennon, mccartney...etc pp..

stick to ur lessons and play under the x mas tree...

  • i never said anything about lessons, did i? i didnt say mozard had lessons either, did i?

just because i say that u have to learn some theoretical stuff first, doesnt mean u have to take lessons, u can learn it by urself.

the first time hendrix touched a guitar, u think his feelings came out then? no, he had to learn some theoretical stuff first, and im not saying he had to take lessons, theres something called selfteaching.

selftaught or not, u need some theory before u play what u feel

  • LOL hendrix knew absolutely all the theory, as did mcartney. you need to learn music theory otherwise u will not know how to play the sound which is in your 'heart'.

  • @terminalninja Music theory is helpful for understanding musical structure but saying that it is absolutely necessary to make music isn't (in my opinion) entirely true.

  • @5anjii Oh yeah your right! it isn't completely necessary! I wasn't saying that.

  • amen

  • Sure, but tosh was the one that created the "chucka" style if anything Marley imitated him or helped influence it.

  • its just telling people how the technique works

  • Great lesson. But how do I get that sound you got goin there. What's the base and treble on? I have a really hard time finding a sound I like. That sound you got goin is perfect any tips on how to get that sound?

  • really helpful - thx

  • .powazna lekcyjka

  • tak, tak, zgadzam sie bardzo dobra lekcja :D

  • hah, też napisze po Polsku ;D bardzo dobra lekcja ;)

  • very good bud!!

  • i understand the whole "bom chick" but how do you do the "chicka"?

  • @xyterrea erm practice, lol

  • na its like something different i dont get to it

  • down stroke mute strings

up stroke play the chord but then mute it

    ie:1 and 2 and 3 and 4 d u d u d u d

    d=down stroke

    u=upstroke

thas pretty much the basic reggae strumming style

  • @3dpaper not sure of that, its more likly that you hear reggae guitarrist playing only offbeat downstrokes, and note muted chords

  • say what you will rjvalentine but its a good place to start and yeah i do agree with you that if you want to really get some idea of how to play reggae you do need to listen to some black uhuru or something you know but it is a good place to start

  • watch some actual reggae guitarists play.

    type: inna di yard

  • to ja tez napisze po polsku:D dobra lekcja:)

  • this is mighty helpful... now to only learn how to play some chords... and to get a better amp

  • just off call i grew up from birth of guitar with this guy 2 years on and still love it cheers for the vidio lessons mate!!
