We are about to start a project like this and I must say...yours is AWESOME! Where did you purchase your kit? I really like the final shape of the fireplace, it is exactly what we am looking for. We want to add on firewood boxes to either side.
What did you use for cement. My dads looking to build one but he doesn't know that cement to use.The fire will be at high temperature and he is afraid that the high tempature will melt the cement, so he needs to know what cement to use.

The fire rock kit was $1,395, block & mortar $650, veneer stone $658, limestone mantel, hearth & top $500.
