@1230hagen When you mic an amp its supposed to be on the bottom left quarter of the speaker. The muddy sound stems from who ever mixed the sound for the mic in front of the amp.

@1230hagen Your the dumb shit, when you place the mic in the center you get a higher volume level and more high end, not presence. Putting the mic off center gives the guitar a much warmer tone. As a matter of fact when recording most musicians use two mics on off center and one in the middle to blend the two tones together. But when in a live setting the mic is off center. And if your such an accomplished musician then prove it.

personally as an owner of this amp this amp is not for mid scoopers and if you know a little about dimes rigs he used a seperate eq to tighten the amp up just like how everbody uses a maxon od808 or an tubescreamer to tighten up the the overall sound of any high gain rig which are still good units

That amp sucks. You have to crank the volume in order to get an average tone. Dime never used them. He used modified rev1's.

If you're looking a for a pantera sound, why would ever go for a tube amp? pantera is all about solid state madness.

the guy dosent sound like dime becouse dime used randalls in ALL of his pantera albums, he went to krank after a while with damageplan, he always scooped his mids and used a bill lawrence lx500l , in damageplans case he used a seymour duncan dimebucker, he also used 2 eq effects, the pq3 and just another eq pedal, his eq on the amp had very low midrange

i just got the krankenstein and i think the clean is really flat and sterile. for metal tones i hooked up an mxr 10 band eq and a metal core and with a few pedals to give the tone some color it sounds gorgeous

You dont need a metal core distortion pedal with this amp...it has a TON of gain on its own.

I own the krankenstein+, a dual rectifier and a 5150...honestly the rectifier and the krank have decent/good clean channels. The kranks clean is nice enough...you dont buy a high gain head for its clean channel

@magazinedude2002 i know imma get crap for this but i tried out a 6505+, and honestly i hated it, it didnt push the kind of power or gain structure i wanted, im sure its a great amp, but just not my preference, the dual rec. suits my style better, the peavey sounded really thin, the dual rec had that big ballsy wall of sound, and it had some sort of sonic characteristic that no other amp offered me, so ya i was not impressed at all with the peavey.

this distortion is beastly, sounds exactly like as i lay dying if your wondering. the clean for me sounds a lil dead, i mean i wouldnt rely on this clean channel. maybe i need to change my preamps who knows. also the amps overall tone doesnt have a lot of sustain compared to other amps. peavey 6505 is a great rival.

@wooowmeato Sustain is alright...I thought the clean channel was pretty darn good for a high gain head. Distortion is brutal...I would argue the Krankenstein is FAR more versatile than the 5150/6505...I own both. The Sweep knob adds a whole new aspect to the krank...it also has a boost in the effects loop which can be pretty nice

Sarcasm. Obviously your setup is not going to sound as good as a Krankenstein. the MT2 is one of the worst sounding pedals ever. and the De ville i s a sub par amp at best.

He REALLY should have used a guitar INSTEAD of an Ibanez. Fuck, I would've went with my Razorback, my B.C. Rich Mockingbird, or at least a Les Paul instead of Ibanez. The Infinity pickups on that Ibanez are too muddy and shrill (low-end and top-end respectively) to bring out the tonal characteristics of this amp. Great amp. Just a shitty guitar being played through it.

Bitch, Dime was THE reason I took up guitar. If I thought it was so important for a piece of shit tween like you to know, I used to own an Ibanez JEM model (new at time of purchase), and it fell apart w/in a wk of owning it. They wouldn't repair or replace it, so I took a sledge to it.
