The following is the law from the FAA.

i Sec. 91.15 — Dropping objects.

No pilot in command of a civil aircraft may allow any object to be dropped from that aircraft in flight that creates a hazard to persons or property. However, this section does not prohibit the dropping of any object if reasonable precautions are taken to avoid injury or damage to persons or property.

Everyone was required to take reasonable precautions and wear full sealing ballistic rated goggles.

No problem. We did run into one snag with FAA rules, we had a mini-gun we were going to mount to the helicopter but according to FAA rules and regulations we couldn't attach anything to the helicopter, and ended up not using it.
