  • I live in texas too , Dfw area , but yea my Mpgs don't sound right either and I'm bone stock. I've tried babien the car for a whole 2 weeks and I still get bad MPGS. And it's mostly highway miles too. Maybe something might be wrong internal? Any ideas ?

  • When I cruise in the city, I typically shift around 3k RPMs, and pretty much stay out of boost. If I'm getting on a highway, I will usually shift at 4k RPMs. Only when I'm hammering it do I go above that for any reason. When I cruise, I'm usually between 2k and 3k. For example, 45mph in 4th gear will keep me around 2900rpms. I'll shift to 5th if I plan to cruise at 50. Maybe it's your driving style, because if you are aggressive with every bit of acceleration, I could imagine 175mpt.

  • Well I have an extended warranty with Mazda so I'll get it checked in the morning , they already replaced the bushings and control arms on the same side I wonder y they did not notice that . But oh we'll I'll take it again. I also forgot to mention I'm getting really bad gas mileage maybe 175 to a full tank . Is that normal?

  • I live in Texas, so we aren't high in the sky, or below sea level. Pretty average altitude, and I get between 19 to 21mpg depending on my driving style for the week. A full tank will get me 220 to 275 miles. Mod wise, I've only got a CP-E Xcel Nano (SRI) and a Forge BPV. With those two mods, my mileage didn't change (to the best of my knowledge). So, your 175mpt doesn't sound right.

  • I've had mine for about 1 month now and I seem to be having major issues with it, I hear a loud crack sound by the left driver tire as I turn in on my drive way or hit a bump on slow speeds , then my engine idles weird I hear the regular idle and then hear like a type of plastic or something hitting somewhere , then my clutch feels really loose .

  • The loud crack sounds like a broken wheel bearing. The different idling noises are simply the injectors changing duty cycles. Your clutch feeling loose could be due to wear and tear, or the previous owner. I'd suggest getting at least getting the wheel bearing looked at. If you have no slippage with your clutch, then it might be an aftermarket clutch that was installed, but without the previous owner telling you everything, it's hard to tell without being under the hood.

  • Have a mazda speed 6 turbo edition an it runs great love it

  • I agree. Even though mine only has 30-40k miles, mine is running fantastically, as well. At the moment, I've only got a CP-E Nano Xcel SRI, and a Forge BPV. Future plans include HEAVY modifications. ^_^

  • now you need an intake so you can really hear the turbo and bpv

  • Oh, I've got one. I have the CP-E Nano SRI installed, currently. Been running it for...maybe 4k-6k miles, so far. Sounds awesome, slightly quicker spool up, no worries of sucking up water during heavy rain. All in all, a great after market intake.

  • @ryukenosuke I have the fujita cai with the cpe prefilter. so far np with sucking up water 50000 miles later.

  • Fantastic! ( :

In Texas, we have some major pot holes...that just love to fill up with water...and should you hit one, half your engine bay is submerged. *laughs*

  • @ryukenosuke haha, well new england has some shitty roads as well. i know how you feel

  • its just the sound of the vaccum air seal breaking during the intial breath of the stock airbox. it will be much more pronounced when you upgrade to a CAI or a Short Ram. it is present even without an aftermarket BPV.

  • That is an excellent explanation. This is exactly what I was hoping to find out. Thank you.

  • @BoostNinjas Its not exaclty a vacuum seal since the plate is around 11-14% open while the car is idiling, its just the sound of greatly increased airflow

  • Swap the OE BPV back on and see if it does it.

  • / : I'm not keen on doing that just yet...as I snapped the head off of one of the stupid bolts in the process of installing that thing...so had to get a replacement...after spending hours removing the broken bolt. Maybe...I'll get around to that...some other day.

  • It's normal dude.

  • Yea, I found out.

  • What's a Forge BPV?

Actually that noise sounds like a turbo to me. Or it is probably the intake system, I really don't know fore sure. It sounds powerful though! ^_^

  • Forge is a brand. BPV stands for bypass valve. Similar to a blow off valve, but it recirculates the pressure back into the intake instead of out to the atmosphere. It's not the turbo, as my turbo doesn't kick in until 2500~3000rpms.

  • Oh yea, you can hear my BPV in my other vid that I uploaded. It's the "SHING" noise you hear after each rev.

  • Huh, Thank you! Bypass valvde, cool. ^_^

  • According to a couple of the guys on the forums, these noises are normal, after all. The click at rev is simply the intake. Strange, if you ask me, but normal. The change in injector sound is the injectors changing their duty cycle due to idling. You and I are ok. ^_^

  • aye i notice that too in mine! did you find out what it is????
