  • Lou Reed is fucking awesome

  • fucking awful interview fuck this guy

  • lol,, thought was a great performance.. it is live u know

  • i realize how lawyers and journalist are alike

  • 11 journalists didn't like the interview

  • Comment removed

  • funniest interview ive seen

  • haha! gotta love Lou. his motto should be :

"I can be more of an ass that you"

  • This man's probably one of the greatest musical genius of our century. Apart from being the physical cross between Jim Carrey, Eminem, David Bowie and Iggy Pop right here....:D

    .

  • Drugs

  • jesus, that was a horrible performance, damn he was fucked up.

  • Dance, Louis, Dance...

  • painful

  • The "fucking faggot junkie" in perhaps the worst phase of his life, not that he's ever been a paragon of virtue ( heh ).

The effeminate moves in that performance of "Walk on the Wild Side" is amusing and a wee bit boring. Queers in Rock can be an interesting and unpredictable

    bunch.

  • The dance at 2:00 is hilarious

  • LMAO him dancing at 2:00 min hahaha

  • Lou Reed and Andy Warhol are alike when replying to questions.

  • Early 70s was a strange time for hairstyles. Those nerdy middle aged reporters are sporting long styled comb-overs, which they likely would have mocked just a few yrs earlier being it was associated with hippies/radicals. Even news reporters had those shaggy styles in the mid 70s b/c longer hair had finally become 'safe' to the mainstream audiences.. Ironically, Lou's got a shorter and more conservative cut than the most of the press.

  • Amazing version!

  • these journalists ask questions like cops do.

  • The amount of drugs in Lou's system during this performance would kill most of us... and I'm a recovering heroin addict lol. But in all honesty, he was fuuuckkkeeddd uppp here. I guarantee Lou Reed wouldn't even be able to watch this video today.

  • As a young Australian this confuses me somewhat (but I do however understand Australian media is still full of knobs like these). I'd love to hear someone's perspective/recount on how Lou Reed was recieved by the majority of Australia during this time - if someone could please be so bold?

  • Bunch of duffas is correct. I can't believe the way they were just trying to fish shit out of him like that - it almost seemed as if they knew what was coming out was entire rubbish, but kept asking those nonsense questions. Did they even understand the man they were interviewing at all? I love the way he lead them around though, and he even seemed agitated by their blatant... I dunno... 'fuckwittedness'?

  • music at its finest bahah i love him

  • i'm surprised he can remember all the woods with all the heroin and other things he was on, but this was great!

  • Could you be any more high, Lou???

  • This was Lou's best period imo. From '72-'76 Lou was the best there was, is, and ever could be! Plus Lou looked cool as shit with the short blond hair and aviator shades!

  • haha! That interview was GREAT!!! man, I laughed my ass off. The interviewer was just completely busting his balls. The come-backs he gave were so hilarious & quick witted. Wish i could've been that quick on my feet. woot!

  • @SadSak08 The fact you are so easily impressed by Reed's monosyllabic answers explains just why you are a Reed fan in the first place. You are exactly the kind of fan he most despises!

  • @MisAnnThorpe I was probably high, Mis Ann.

  • Definitly one of the best live version of that sont and ncie interview at the end

  • im high on life. YEAH IF LIFE MEANS FUCKING WEED LOL ;)

  • @jaiyaboy yeah cool.

  • He's such a lousy dancer...

  • @siebentau actually dancing erratically like that is quite hard...if you know how to dance...because it's arythmic....

not that he can dance though lol..

  • not talented as a singer ,this is for sure.Poet maybe ,anyone can speak over background music rappers do it all the time. That's not talent either, this is only an opinion so all you turds that love this guy can shut it.

  • @justaman6972 You should hear him when he's actually singing. Besides, there's more to being a fabulous singer than just being fabulous at singing. Similar to what you said, it's about poetry.

  • hahahha lsd

  • Ahahaha. I love how Lou spends the whole interview just taking the piss out of the journalists. Long live rock 'n' roll!

  • this interview never gets old..

"And is this why you hate journalists?"

    "No, I love journalists."

  • amphetamine.

  • @whoisit01

i don't know that he is on drugs...even if he is it doesn't make a difference...he's portraying something/expressing himself

  • At 1:00 He scares Himself.

  • oh he's funny

    i like him

  • He came to New Zealand in 1984. A pretty young female sat down to interview him. After the first "silly" question, he stubbed his fag out between her thighs, got up and walked outa the room.

  • Love the interview . He totally handles the sniping press , and he looks so happy ,amost in a world of his own . I wonder why !

  • well what can i say about this interview IS HE TELLING LIES ALSO IS HE TAKING THE P"""" OUT OF THE PRESS I WONDER.ANYWAY HE WAS EXCELLENT AT THE LONDON PALLADIAM IN 1990

  • well... it might have been cool at the time. Of course in today's light, he just sounds like a slow brained teenager who's trying to sound cool. But he does have his place in the history of coolness.

  • The 'interview'....such a weird setup. The fact that he put himself up in such a way,is totaly useless. That's all been done way better before, by Dylan ,Stones,Lennon.

  • Anyone know who the support act was for this tour?

  • Ya I just downloaded this mp3 at everymp3rip..com

  • Lou Reed is a douchebag

  • Someone had replied to my comment about my loving lou, but not quite ready to give him lifetime 'coolest person' status based on his cozy new york hipster-loving lifestyle...the comment was removed, so i guess i win this round! I do love lou! And I understand that one single line of his work pre-1980 ensures a lifetime of 'cool' status, but i'm just reacting to the present...i love his pal laurie anderson, too, but she also has become far too comfortable with her abilities...

  • i love lou, but 'was' the coolest person ever might be more appropriate--he has settled into a cozy life on west street (for privacy i'll not offer cross street)...he's just a scenester now, saturday bike rider, mediocre photo-taker....yes, i love lou, but it is the beginning of a new age...

  • I saw this tour in Brisbane. I was 17 years old, utterly innocent, and Lou made my eyes bug out. I've been listening to him ever since.

Very, very amusing how he games the stuffed-shirt journalists. Out-manoeuvers them on every single question. Slippery bugger.

  • cocaine is a helluva drug

  • -What do you spend you money on?

    -Drugs.

    -For other people?

    -Right.

    ROFL

  • @micalove thats gold drughs for other people right hahahahahaha

  • I agree with him about Monopoly. One of the most boring board games ever.

  • FLAMER. GUTTER ROCK. OH YEAH HAHAHA fuck the press they always were wankers, bobby.d sure set the example down on how to deal with those fuckers.

  • full on dylan-drawl for lou in 74 :)

  • What are those sunglasses?

  • hahaha...I love how the woman at the end sums it all up.

  • Lou needs to go on tour!

  • i love the way he fucks with the press i wish there were more videos like this one

  • Soothing voice

  • haha i have to cover this song i dont give a fuck if people think im a fag, lou didnt hahaha so fucking good and funny

  • he's OBVIOUSLY speeding his tits off, but I wouldn't have it any other way

  • he is so beautiful!

  • I don't why this performance makes me laugh. Lou moves very funny.

  • "gutter rock?"

    "oh yeah."

  • He is such a badass.

  • I love this song even if, i m italian a can't understand every word...uff:(

  • His dancing makes me incredibly happy.

  • 1:14 LOL Freakshow

  • He's right. It's so much better then monopoly.

  • He has adopted warhol's interview style, great, reporters are so boring.

  • He knows what it is about to be a Yunkie, no sand in de pocket, so you have to give good good head and everybody has to pay and pay

  • This is autobiographic, he sings about himself

  • Lou Reed sure loved speed.

  • re: "Don't you think that Lou Reed is real slim shady?" YES!!!

  • @aliceborealis

    lol. yes, most def

  • whats a gutter rock

  • Haha he was a bad ass in that interview...

  • i think he sounds so much like andy...

  • hes just fooling thejournalists you can see him smile a bit

  • Don't you think that Lou Reed is real slim shady?

  • some far nephew perhaps, but i like this one's music more

  • Yeah, I like his music too :D .

  • That journalist was a cheeky fucker.

    "are you a transvestite?"

Lou should have slugged him in the mouth right there.

  • why? he is a bit of a transvestite. i'm sure he would be the first one to tell you that.

  • "Why do you take drugs?" "Coz it's better than monopoly" Wise words lou.

  • he sure can has dance

  • so brilliant

  • what people don't realise is that would have been shot at mascot soon after he got off the plane. and in those days it was a verrrrry looooong flight from the west coast. so, off the plane, through customs, a quick shower and change of clothes in the old media room, then you get rocket scientists like these idiots from a current affair asking retarded questions based on an rca press release. none of 'em would've heard any lou or vu. they would've died if they'd known he was a journalism major.

  • lou= pure genius

    love this clip

  • Is Doug Yule playing bass in concert? I know this is the year that he toured with Lou.

  • Nice language..you don't call your mother that do you?

  • The words of an immature child

  • The interviewer? I thought so too.

  • hilarious interview

  • Garr, hate those 'ahahha man he must've been soooo high' - comments...

  • YornMan i might be wrong but your comment just sounds like your talking bollocks.

hes obviously just fucking with the reporters......its not a higher level of thinking...that he is expressing its just a bunch of random answers that dont make any sense

  • Agreeded, i would mess with the reporters too haha

  • cutie at 6:06

  • it said in our release this morning that you like lying to the press...are you doing that now?

    rofl

  • :) i love him so much. "do you like some things more than others?" "...no."

  • Thank you for posting this interview of a great legend that is Lou Reed. Another example of The Press/Medias been totally beside the tracks or as common as most commoner. Who is to blame if blame there is ?

I think this is why the Magazine Rolling Stone gained so much favour in the time where

the right questions were asked by more inteligent form of journalism that try to reach

to the level of the artist instead of debasing them like they attempting doing in this "farciful" display.

  • did you see this concert Tanya ??

  • not that I can remember !

  • oh my god great interview he made them look like the bunch of fools they are

  • Haha... He messed up on the very first lyric. Haha... Joker. Holly came from Miami F.L.A

  • i think he did it purposefully

  • I don't think. It's probably some Heroin. hah. who cares... LEGEND. VELVET UNDERGROUND IS THE BEST

  • he says it like four times ... so its hard to image that a mistake would be that consistent

  • hahaha great interview

  • He was awesome.

  • Gutter Rock?

    Oh Yeah....

    ROFLMFAO

Rock and Roll Animal no less

    Shine on Lou *****

  • ahaha he's so hilarious and he's completely oblivious of it. the song's great!

  • oblivious of his hilariousness? It's more like another level of thinking actually. In fact, not really hilarious at all

  • haha i HATE the interviewer but lou does an awesome job. awesome

  • off chops

  • :D I love him!

  • "Are you a transsexual?"

    "Yes."

I laughed so hard I thought I'd cough up a lung. Lou is a clever boy.

  • so sick <3

  • I love this lol

  • he's OBVIOUSLY not on drugs

  • @whoisit01 Simply a visual/aural artist

  • Lou Reed is fucking amazing!!!

  • ha ha ha heroin ;)

  • "I don't take drugs"

    later

"How do you spend your money?"

    "On drugs"

    This guy is outstanding.

  • i love him.

  • lol

  • great interview

  • yeah, but I hate getting dope sick

  • it's god !!!

  • He's awesome!

  • This is great - Lou comes out covered in glory and we get an insight into what he has had to live with all his life - arsewholedom rampant. A true f**king American hero - we are not worthy.

  • he's just about as cool as cool gets.

  • He is doing an impression of Andy Warhol!!!

  • He has the voice of an angel and the attitude of an asshole.. but I'm willing to overlook that.

  • attitude of an asshole?

umm the australian journalists were being fuckwits.

he was just doing an impresion of Andy Warhol and making the austrlian press seem like idiots.

  • remarkable person.

  • wicked version of the song

  • Wonder what he is drinking.

  • heroin?

  • i love how fake his hair looks. obvious bleach. his dancing looks like ian curtis. thanks for uploading this!

  • Awesome interview. Can't really blame Lou for being an a&*hole with the press. These are pretty ridiculous questions.

  • where do you spend your money

    on drugs

    for other people

    right

    hahaha

  • love that bitch.

  • ya, imitation Warhol

    ..

  • Fantastic footage from the 74 tour, around the time of Sally Can't Dance. Thanks for posting this. At the time Lou Reed used to shoot up on stage (or acted as he did) during Heroin. Shame that by this time he had lost guitarists Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner who shine on the Rock'n Roll Animal & Lou Reed Live albums (recorded at the same gig, New York Academy Of Music, 1973). Still, fantastic performance & interview, classic.

  • is gay?

    its never said

  • The man

  • this interview is great,I don't take drugs, but I REALLY like Lou Reed because he did not give a shit,he didn't need to excuse himself for who he is,what he is,or what he did.

Well I have always liked his music

  • you are so right. awesome interview. the world hasn't changed so much after all has it

  • music has..

  • Indeed...

  • ah ah, 'because I think the government is plotting against me' LOL

    great Lou Reed

  • Lou Reed e único e inimitável ñ há nada paracido, esse video e muito bom.......

  • Lou trying to be like Bowie? Uh , no. Actually, Bowie came to NY to learn how to be a superstar.

  • I really love this video; and in this interview he's great.

The best Wild Side live ever!

  • he answers his questions like andy warhol. Simple and in a jokey way. wonder if warhol got it from reed or reed got it from warhol. o well lou reed rocks!

  • Oh man, I love him so much and he was such a cutie. I think it was amazing how he handled his interviewers. mmm nice

  • Lou at his best! Hey Babe!!! Amazing: His singin´ and acting on stage. Brilliant: The press conference "Do you take drugs?" Lou:"No" .... "On what are you spending your money?" Lou:"On drugs" - Some of the best press-conference in rock´n roll biz!

  • John cale: been there done that

    David Bowie: hey me too

  • Don't want to go back
