  • youre like perfect wife material lol, but for real tho...

  • Awesome!

  • I usually just peel any Citrus based Fruit and the rest i wash and throw in, with the plunger you usually dont need to "Pre slice" anything from what i have found.

  • How can I do my peanut butter, from scratch? Is there any one knows, PLEASE ^^

  • @Doo7ati3 Ya 4-5 cups unsalted roasted peanuts and just let the machine do the rest

  • You look TOTALLY HEALTHY :)! I just purchased the VitaMix probably 3 months ago! I wanna try every thing do

  • I am so going to try this! It looks yummy thanks. If I wanted to leave out the grape juice how would it taste?

  • You have renewed my desire to buy a Vitamix blender. Your juice looks amazing! Thanks!

  • you do a great review. Thanks

  • What model Vitamix is this? I'm trying to decide which model to get - any advice?

  • I Love your outlook on life! you have such a great, positive attitude ^_^

  • hello thx for the response. i mix several times a day, and about an hour afterward i get hungry again. i started adding protein, but i still get hungry. any ideas why??

    thx

  • @SUBXERO1961 because people can't live on juice. Get some food you can chew.

  • hello again, would you know how i could calculate the nutritional value of my super green smoothie. thank you so much for your time

  • @SUBXERO1961 There's no real easy way to do this. I use a program called 'Living Cookbook'... there's a link to it on my website. It automatically calculates the nutritional value of recipes once they are entered into the program. However, you can also go online - I found one site: 'thecaloriecounter(dot)com' which has nutritional info for each food item. But be aware that this site is full of text advertisement, so be careful what you click on. Hope that helps! God Bless! ~Erika

  • @SUBXERO1961 use cron-o-meter its free!!!

  • hello great stuff u have here!! how do i get my juices less foamy? also i'm a weight watchers member, are u familiar with the points plus program?

    thanks

  • @SUBXERO1961 Thanks for the comments! I'm not sure what you mean by foam - could it be the fiber/pulp? I've never had foam when I make mine. The consistency should be like that of a frozen jamba juice if you use frozen ingredients & ice - but it stays thick & fibrous even in the fridge. I'm not too familiar with the WW points system, but I'm pretty sure all veggies are freebies... it's the fruit that you have to count. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more ???'s God Bless! ~ Erika

  • great vid. is it ok to drink the pulp and foam?

  • @SUBXERO1961 Thanks! Yes, you can drink it all! If it's a little to 'dirty' for you, then you can run it through a nut milk bag or a juicer to filter the fiber out. Otherwise, bottoms up! =) Enjoy & God Bless! ~Erika

  • @SUBXERO1961 Yes, you can drink the pulp... which shouldn't be too bad if it's blended up well. Are you using a Vitamix? Not sure what you mean about foam. Let me know. =) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • @aLittleInsanityVideo dp i have to use the beats cuz my moms alergic :L

  • @juggalettetillidie1 Good question! No, you don't have to use the beets... especially if your mom's allergic. Dirty Juice is all about a balance of fresh fruit and veggies blended into a refreshing and healthy drink... so feel free to mix it up however you want. Hope that helps! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • Thank you for the video. Well done and helpful. I will go visit your site now.

  • pineapple isn't JUST in hawaii, wtf lady

  • Kale and Lettuce first, then all your soft fruits, apples last. Looks great though!

  • @ghijsch I believe it has 11.5 amps / 1380 watts... that's for the 5200 model (I have the 5000). It's one powerful machine! =) Hope that helps! God Bless! ~Erika

  • You are hilarious about saving the vita mix...I would too!

  • @MissJonell Great minds think alike! =) LOL I also take mine on Vacation! I don't think I'd know how make breakfast without it! God Bless! ~Erika

  • my normal blender did this recipe and it was delicious

  • @shahjee1993 Yay! So glad you enjoyed it! =) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I made this juice. To make it here in San Jose, CA it costs around $10-$12 to make, including the ingredients you did not have but mentioned. Good drink, but costly.

  • @phatpatSJ011 Oh my, that is expensive! I've never spent that much on this juice - but I am blessed with an amazing farmers market with reasonable prices & Costco... between the two, I figure the full 72 ounce juice costs about $7... I can only imagine that a 'Jamba Juice' of that size would cost about 3 times the amount (but without the nutritional benefits of all the fruits and veggies that go into Dirty Juice). I hope you can find a way to enjoy it for less. =) God Bless! ~Erika

  • Are those raw beets? Or do you cook and freeze them first?

    Thanks

  • @justwatching4us Yes, they are raw beets - I just peel them and quarter them before freezing to make it easier to add to the juice. Hope that helped! =) God Bless@ ~ Erika

  • Wow, thanks! I've never liked the look of green smoothies but yours actually looks good! I'm trying to work my way up to about 50% raw (from barely anything uncooked), so this will help. Not to mention being a great breakfast to go for work mornings, I often end up skipping that meal, not good.

  • @LoraMaeHollingsway So glad that you're willing to give it a try. It sounds like you have set yourself a very reasonable goal of 50% raw... That's about how much our family does on a regular daily basis - but I'd love to get those numbers up another 10% or more. But with 3 small mouths to feed, I'm just happy that they are willing to eat as many raw foods and they do! =) Keep me posted on how your journey goes! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I went on eBay and got the Vita-Prep 3 blender by Vita-Mix in July 2007 and have been using the blender daily ever since. I make a fruit smoothie with added protein each morning and love it. When I work it out it's just under 50 cents a day and the blender pays for itself in savings from having to buy pre-made juices, etc. I love my Vita-Max!

  • @ZamfirChannel That's awesome! You're right... when used daily (or multiple times per day like we do), the VitaMix saves money and pays for itself in no time at all! Plus, you get the benefit of fresher food, healthy ingredients and better taste! Thanks for the comment! =) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • Love the video! Hate to tell you, but the title slides have the word "little" misspelled. :(

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • @jwurth LOL! =) I know! My mom actually pointed it out to me after I posted the video... it took so long to upload that I left it and corrected it on future videos... Good Eye! Thanks for the comment and encouragement! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • @MrViolentlyHappy You too, Huh! I can't believe it. I have actually made purchasing a Vitamix a part of my New Year's resolution. Like you, I have been wanting one of these machines ever since I first heard about them. It is also a part of my resolution to become a raw vegan this year. So we have a lot in common. I know owning one of these machine will help me on my journey. I want the same one shown in this video. Same color and everything. Well, I hope your dream comes true. And mine too.

  • Just got a vitamix a couple of days ago. it rocks!!! i made some Dirty Juice, it's really good. i substituted the the grape juice for 2 Tbl spoons of Goji juice which is really sweet and a super food :o). i am now a fan of "a little insanity" thank you for sharing all your healthy recipes!! i love how you are thorough which makes it easier and motivating.

  • @MonicaSchultz Congrats on the VitaMix!!! You are going to love it more and more each time you use it! LOVE the Goji juice idea... I'm going to try that myself, it sounds so yummy! Keep me posted on how your VitaMix adventures go! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I do have a question though on your variable speed knob. On mine it has like no resistance. How is yours?

  • @peterdaniel66 Funny you should ask this... I just sent my VitaMix in for maintenance because I noticed my knob was getting really loose (but it should be very smooth to turn with little resistance), and it came back with with what seems to be more power LOL and a now the knob has a much tighter feel. If it's too loose for you, call them, they have amazing customer service and will bend over backwards to make sure you're satisfied. Hope that helps! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • You do a great job explaining ! Cute too !

  • Thank you so much

  • Just got a vitamix. now I lay around thinking "what could I blend" LOLOL

  • @labartic I hope you're having fun with your VitaMix... I'm sure by now you've tried blending all kinds of things - there's not much out there that a VitaMix can't blend through! :) Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • Actually, I credit VitaMix with changing my life.. The combination of a power tool mentality and ease of just throwing stuff in there to see what comes out proved irresistible! 30 pounds discarded off my body and way more to go... I have so much energy it scary! Of course I work out every day no matter what. The first Vita Mix I bought was the red one.. simply beautiful to look at.. I actually look forward everyday to using it. My smoothies always come out dark olive green, my fav color!!

  • I live by my Vita Mix.. so much so I bought 2 in case one should actually stop working, I wont be without my green smoothie. I have reduced the fruit down to 1/2 banana 1/2 apple and 4 strawberries. In goes the the Dino Kale ( dark green) Spinach, carrot greens ( the tops are actually more nutritious than the root carrot part) Dandelion greens, Swiss Chard and regular Kale and an assorted bunch of greens that include red and green oak and arugula. Pomegranate concentrate and flax seed. YUM!!

  • @peterdaniel66 Sounds delicious! I love hearing how people mix up their ingredients to make their own 'dirty juice'! :) I admire the fact that you've been able to reduce the amount of fruit you use - after many years I too can handle a 'greener' taste, but not everyone feels the same way, so I gradually decrease the fruit over time. I should really have a back-up VitaMix with the way that I use mine... I honestly don't know what I'd do without it! :) Thanks for the comment, God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I just got my Vitamix today, so excited! I love your recipes, Erika! Thanks for sharing.

  • @TheFitRose Yay!! That is so exciting!!! You are going to LOVE IT!! :) I can still remember the day I got mine - my husband teases me that I made a bigger deal of it than our Wedding day - LOL! :) Thanks for your kind words... hopefully I'll have some new videos up soon! Enjoy & God Bless! ~ Erika

  • I apologize for being critical. Sorry about that.

  • ...8 years and still kicking ass...even ever leaving a spoon in it.

  • @FxScalper LOL! Love it! My VitaMix is a work horse too... I dropped a spoon in once; shredded a tamper; pulverized a peach pit; and who know what else... and it didn't skip a beat! :) Thanks for the comment! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • Love this! i was wondering wether to buy a VitaMix well i do now :D

Wh0m33: its lovely to hear kids in the background, i would rather someone in real life that on tv be showing me how good it is:)

  • do you half to cook the beets first?

  • @latinhorse75 Nope, you can throw them in raw - that way you keep all the beneficial enzymes & nutrients (but I do recommend peeling them first). If I don't have any fresh ones on hand, I always keep a few in the freezer - The VitaMix eats right through them either way! :) Thanks for the question! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • QUIET DOWN THOSE KIDS, MY GOODNESS!!

  • @wh0m33 I know there's a little noise in the background - sorry about that... But that's why my channel is called 'A Little Insanity' :) I'm an adoptive mother of all boys... plus there's always a few extra kids that usually hang out at our house. I do my best to video when it's quiet, but those moments can be few and far between. Thanks for watching anyway! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • @wh0m33 dont be such a hag !!

  • ice trick is nice& u can make smoothies, masticators arent as fast but usually easier to clean& u get20% more juice& u dont have to add ice& u can do wheatgrass or any other organic grass etc.

Commercial clower chewjuicers should be in every school,

  • That is one powerful little machine.

  • I decided to check you tube for Vitamix before we bought one and came across your you tubes which led me to you blog.....congrats btw.....our daughter has been home for just over 19 months :)

Anyhow we are debating between a blender and a juicer.....we have recently switch to a vegetarian diet after watching some documentaries and felt this was the next step in our journey to health :) We watch to loosely follow the Gerson Therapy as a preventative.

  • @jimjenn97 I too loosely follow the Gerson Therapy (especially when somebody starts to not feel well or needs a good detox). I have both the Vitamix and a Green Star Juicer. But, for everyday use, I couldn't do without my Vitamix and would easily chose it over the juicer simply because it can juice and then be strained. However, the juicer is so much better if you plan on truly juicing on a regular basis. Hope that helps! :) God Bless & Thanks for the comment! ~ Erika

  • Thanks for the video. It is well detailed and easy to understand.

  • Do you have a sister?

  • can you use baby carrots?

  • Erica is absolutely adorable!

I learned alot from her demonstration, while getting such a kick out of her cute personality.

    Thanks Erica!

  • I would have to say the recipe sounds good but I would also have to say way too many fruits. Hopefully since you made this video you have cut down on the fruit and increased the greens and you have dropped the grape juice concentrate pure sugar.

Other then that great video and keep up the raw food lifestyle.

  • @Yana2020

I agree! I recently started doing this but I don't have a Vita Mix (yet) that will be the future......Right now I'm using a cheap Osterizer blender (but it's just for myself) so I'm sure I will burn it up soon. Anyway, the thing is terribly loud. My ears were ringing after using it for several minutes. The Vita mix would half to be even louder. Good vid. That grape concentrate is a great idea.

  • @Yana2020 - Thanks for your concern. The VitaMix can be loud when crushing Ice and Frozen Foods, but I still don't find it too bad. But, I may just do a video with some ear muffs for fun and to remind people with sensitive hearing to be careful! I might have trouble finding ear muffs in Hawaii tho- LOL! :) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • @aLittleInsanityVideo You might also be able to use foam ear plugs that are sold in most hardware stores or the hardware section of other stores. Some are disposable, and some you keep but wash them after each use.

I worked in a factory years ago, and those little foam ear plugs really helped a lot to keep out the loud noises.

  • @Yana2020 I'd use "ear protection" for that kid, whom I suspect is sneeking a little refined sugar into his "Dirty Juice."

  • you can't fill a blender that much! are you crazy?

  • @jjhaywood - Yes, I am crazy... actually a little insane :) But seriously, this is no ordinary 'blender'... it's a VitaMix! And it was specifically designed to be packed full like this and not even skip a beat! Thanks for the comment! ~ Erika

  • I also have a vita mix ( i think it is the 5000?) . I was wondering if you may have the same problem as me. If i dont add equal parts liquid to solid my vita mix will make an absolutely awful noise ( it sounds like a grinding noise ) I have only had this machine for about 2 years and i called vita mix to ask then and according to them it sounded fine but i dont know! anyways thanks !

  • @Crazychicken224 - Gosh, I can't say that I have that problem. I give my VitaMix a workout at least 3 times a day and the only time I've heard a slight grinding is if the solid/liquid ratio is off and I'm shoving hard into the blades... but even then, it usually powers through and I don't have a problem. I'd call VitaMix back and and explain it again. Tell them you don't think it's normal and ask them to suggest a fix. Hope that helps! :) God Bless! ~ Erika

  • This is a really helpful video and i loved how you talked so in detail about everything! My grandma owns about 5 vita mix juicers and she gave us one for free!

I am just starting to get in the habit of using it... Upload more recipes!

  • @cutiehmn - Thanks! I wish I had a grandma with 5 VitaMix's! LOL! Stay tuned for more recipes soon! God Bless! ~ Erika

  • take a short break?? lol this ain't food network!

and it sounds like your son already had some "dirty juice" he seems to be bouncing off the walls...

but all kidding aside..kool video.....I'm considering buying the VitaMix. I guess what throws me off is the high price tag. can someone tell me if this machine help pays for itself?

  • It is the best investment you will ever make! I am not a big fan of veggies and now I eat them everyday with fruit. I use my vitamix at least once a day. It is the best!

  • hey i love your videos... had the vita mix for like 8 years but rarely used it until recently

  • HI I loved the video. I am waiting on my vitamix arriving. Do you use "safe" plastic containers to store youre juices in? Since switching to a raw food diet and low-toxin household we have been using glass to store ALL our food and juices to ensure no plastics get into our food. I think one study showed that the plastic begins to degrade into the foods after being manufactured less than 6 months. Just a little thing to think about .. oh and I LOVE your enthusiasm :)

  • Hi poppymoone! Thanks for your sweet comment! I'll bet you can't wait for your VitaMix to arrive-You will enjoy every minute of it! And, you are right about 'safe' plastics... I almost never (except for this video) use anything but wide mouthed glass mason jars to store my juice, nuts, flours, etc... and drink from. I have a Foodsaver sealer that I use to seal the jars and it prolongs the life of the juice. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about your VitaMix! Enjoy & God Bless!

  • Thanks for the info! We just ordered a vitamix tonight off of QVC! I can't wait to try all the recipes! 5*

  • hey do you use vita-mix 5000 or 5200? I'm trying to decide which one to buy..any suggestions?

  • Hi moomiewting! I have the 5000 model, but the 5200 is the newest one (with the better container and 2-Peak motor). Either way, you can't go wrong. If you order direct from VitaMix, don't forget to mention coupon code 06-004166 for free shipping! God Bless!

  • bouncingsoul you're crazy, state your sources... where the heck did you hear that from? You still get your enzymes and vitamins, come on because I make smoothies every morning and It's awesome with ice.

So, just curious about that, where did you hear that Ice killing enzymes? BS, in my opinion.

  • Hi Eric! I'm not exactly sure what bouncingsoul meant... but maybe he meant that adding ice causes friction... and friction can cause you to lose enzymes (but it's minor). That's why most professional gear juicers have low RPM motors to preserve as much of the good stuff as possible. I still love using ice for all kinds of yummy treats, smoothies, juice, etc... and I don't worry about enzyme loss either. :-) Thanks for the comment. God Bless!

  • I've been on the fence about getting a vitamix because they are so much. I hate my cheap blender that has to blend my fruits and greens for a few minutes and still ends up thick. This video has convinced me to go for it! Can't wait to order me one! Thanks!

  • You'll love it. I got mine last night and I've used it six times already~! Costco $380

  • Thanks for the comment... you will not regret getting one - they are the best! When I first got mine I was afraid to experiment with it, but now I know it's capable to handling anything I create! I'll be posting more videos soon of more ways you can use yours! ~ God Bless!

  • Good video!, just got my VitaMix today.

  • My husband and I just bought the Vitamix (his parents got us hooked!) and we are so excited to start trying out all the recipes! I will definitely be trying your Dirty Juice! Thanks and God bless!

  • Love your vid - I cannot live without my Vita Mix either. By watching this I can draw two conclusions about you - one you home school your children and two, you are very religious christian - LDS maybe??

  • Hope not LDS. It took me a Mission and 37 years of life to figure out that church is bunk.

  • What is LDS?

  • Thanks for the comment! Hate to disappoint you, but we're not LDS. :-)

  • How does it taste?

  • Our family thinks it's great! My 4 year old son doesn't know any other juice. My (meat & potato) husband took a little while to warm up to it, because it is a thick juice - but now he loves it and makes it himself! If you are just starting out with juicing, try adding a little more of the grape juice concentrate until you get used to the flavor and texture - then gradually add less and less. You may also juice the fruits and veggies in a juicer for a sweeter taste without the pulp. God Bless!

  • great video, thanks

  • dude your ice is gona kill the enzymes aznd goodness cha

  • Thanks for the comment... I only use the ice to keep the blender from heating up the juice. You lose a lot less enzymes from ice than you do with heat. The VitaMix has the capability to boil water in less than 8 minutes of blending. Besides, when I only want to get pure 'raw' juice, I use my juicer. This is a great transition recipe and can be modified for fruit leather in the dehydrator too! :-) ~ God Bless!

  • thanks for the reply ., yeh juicing wastes alot - blending is easier -.Ill use some ice in my next juice then it makes them seem like frappacino's or por smoothies you can buy if you know what I mean : )
