@pedinoway2 Did you know that at restaurants that serve lobster, they throw the living lobster into a pot full of boiling water? Same goes for crab. Nothing wrong with it, just shows how fresh the food is.
@Xinyuan12345 but lobster doesnt feel pain like a fish. even tho boiling water is a horrible thing, its not the same as deep frying. there arnt many other ways to kill a lobster other than putting it in boiling water, but you can kill a fish easly before you put it in the hot oil. but i dont eat lobster anyway :P .
@pedinoway2 How would any of us know how a lobster feels when it's thrown into boiling water live? The lobster and the fish feel pain from being cooked alive, we can't say how they feel. Btw, I don't eat lobster either lol.
@Xinyuan12345 a lobster's nerve system isnt as sensitive as a fish's nerve system. but like i said, there are so many other humain ways to kill a fish before you cook it, and boling a lobster is probably the most humain way to kill it.
@pedinoway2 "The most humane way"? No such thing man. However, I agree that throwing a live fish and letting it deep-fry live is pretty cruel, in my opinion. I'm sure that EVERYONE likes their food fresh, but it doesn't have to be THAT fresh lol. Can't judge what the lobster or the fish is thinking, but we do know that they are probably feeling a LOT of pain.
@kmathews2: it is true that japan does not pump the animals with shit. besides that actually liver is really good for you since it has a tremendous ammounts of nutrients like vitamis B12,A, folate, riboflavin...etc. especially if it is from a younger animal. do a research before you talk, dude. and it is also a delicious thing.
oh yeah that is great ... liver filters all toxic things from your system.....horse meat is more toxic since we medicate our horses.... Nice toxic meat worse when eating the liver. Check for cancer soon
@kmathews2 It depends. Only in America it seems are where Horses are not an accepted form of protein. Food is about living a little. You think it's any better when you eat processed meats? Chickens who can't move? Cows who are already sick and still butchered? How's that any different?
@kmathews2 japan doesnt pump its animals full of crap like americans. look up kobe beef. yes liver is not the cleanest but you eat chicken livers and hearts. so stfu
@peacefrog1916 Raw meat won't make you sick if it's taken out of a fridge/freezer and prepared & served as soon as possible. If food stands there on a counter for a day, then the bacterias will multiply enough to infect you.
The POWS were starving, not their captors. Still, the POWS didn't eat each other, but their captors ate them anyway. They even had enough spare food to keep them alive for a bit before they ate them.

i prefer to not eat dogs and cats, but i dont think it makes you an inhumane monster if you do as long as you take into account the same practices you would with other farm animals such as in america or europe. whales and dolphins i am against, not because of them being mammals or smart, but because many are endangered and they never take into account humane practices when catching them. sure ill eat a live duck egg, as long as the animal was brought from no pain to death in the least,30 seconds
and japan isnt the only place to eat raw horse liver, dont forget mongols, some native americans, and arabian nomads who consider raw meat(especially camel testicles) a delicacy.
...and even stronger when it comes to Raw organ meat. I enjoy the occasional Steak tartare but raw organ meat, no; even cooked organ meat has a strong mineral flavor I truly dislike. But if someone likes it, I don't see why not. =)

You don't know how many parasite that raw chicken can be carrying. I love Japan and all, but some of their savage eating habits turn me off.

Secondly, torisashi is not at all popular in Japan - I've never seen it nor heard about it except from websites. Thirdly, I think it's usually seared on the outside at very high temperatures to kill the bacteria while leaving the meat inside raw.
But no, I don't think I would eat it either. I've eaten basashi though, and it's good, but gyuusashi is better.

I hope your stay in Japan is fun! Thanks for posting the video!

Yakiniku is the best!
I had horse shashimi last weekend with some people from my office. It was surprisingly good. There is a Sweedish guy at my office that says it is a common dish in Sweeden as well. I rather the gyunikushashimi though. Nothing like some raw beef!
I hope your stay in Japan is fun! Thanks for posting the video!
