With Beatles in mind, I've posted the video, "40 years in 3 minutes", which is a music video containing the Beatles' rooftop performance, historical events over the last 40 years and 8mm film antics from the period, all cut tightly to GET BACK and GLASS ONION (from "Love"). Hope you enjoy!
For years I refused to listen to this album because I thought tearing apart and mashing up all their songs was an insult to the Beatles and their legacy. How wrong I was. This album is a perfect history of the band's musical journey in the span of an hour.
Blah, blah, blah..... Love The Beatles and this happens to be one of my favorites. Love the different mixed versions.... It's blended so beautifully.... LOVE the LOVE album. Takes you on a trip. If you can't dig that.... leave it alone and move on.
Unless you've listened to every one of the Beatles' studio albums several times (which I have through the past many years) you won't understand this album.
btw yeah..don't know man on if this is the best album....abbey road....sgt. pepper.....um no....is right, but what a great masterpiece this is, bravo to George Martin's Son. a true masterpiece of the beatles presentation.
yeah, well, its the best .....yes, and no. A lot was left out. Hell, just start with their first album and work up to the last, subsequently, check out all the 'sheet music' of the beatles. They thought outside the box on chords, man. And it's true- a lesson to all aspiring musicians!
No way. That shit is a remix album. Not the real deal. The complete albums are each it's own complete idea. Music & lyrical themes and stories that fit together as a whole album. A concept. Releasing songs with no connection on an "album" was the work of no-so-conceptual pop artist, much like the bulk of todays pop music. I'm glad Pink Floyd doesn't sell their songs on itunes as singles. do you get what i'm saying?
@satinhooks Ok that's it. Before I start replying bear in mind I love the Beatles.
Do you really think Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper are that great? Sure, they are written and played very well, but people then to give them more than what they actually did. The same goes for Pink Floyd. Do you not think Dark Side of the Moon was made with money in mind? Otherwise, it would just be yet another Atom Heart Mother.
Artists need money, I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
@ebm93 The thing is that being pop or not doesn't mean they didn't do a great job. All I'm saying is that don't diss on this just because it reaches a wider audience, because believe it or not there are a lot of people who all they know about the Beatles is their early singles. It's a good idea to generate interest on them. Same with rock band. It's retarded that Pink Floyd doesn't allow their songs in there, as if they were the ultimate obscure band (I love Pink Floyd too, but come on)
I'm not saying those folks weren't trying to make money. They were around in a period of time when, if you could break through, you could make a LOT of money. I think artists should be able to make lots of money w/ their creativity. I happen to be a creative person myself.
And YES, I think Sgt. Pepper & Revolver are damn near perfect albums. Abby Road ain't bad. Please send me a list of albums to come out in 20 years anyone will let play from beginning to end. It'll be a short list.
When I first heard the guitar notes from Julia and heard the siren, I cried. A reference to John's mother, Julia, being run over and killed. Well done, Giles Martin. Ya got me!
The way this album all strings together... WOW! Get Back into Glass Onion was amazing, and Glass Onion into Eleanor Rigby is absolutely beautiful - it just calms everything, puts all 100% of my attention into listening to this simple genius
God Bless you , SIr! I lost this album, gave 9 of them to my family and lost this in the flood....Cheers to all the John, Paul, Goerge, and Ringo Fans! Get Back!
When I see Beatles albums like "Best Of" "Love Songs" I always say that they are just for the money. But that's beautiful and George Martin is genius!!!
If they have 2 new songs; dose that mean that Yoko Ono finally let the rest of the bettles to see the "Pre" recorded songs that John did before he died?
Evidently in the new iTunes release (today), there are two more songs: The Fool on the Hill and Girl, which means there are now TWO more songs for you to add, blazingpelt. Isn't that cool! ;o)
"Across The Universe" birds + "Because" voices + "A Day In The Life" final chord played backwards + "A Hard Day's Night" intro chord + "The End" drum solo + Shea Stadium audience + "Get Back" + "A Day In The Life" final chord played backwards again + "Things We Said Today" guitar + "Glass Onion" + "Penny Lane" piccolo trumpet + "Eleanor Rigby" (with extra intro) + "Julia" = The best music ever created.
OMG this is fantastic O.O, you can really hear all those songs coming together from one song to another and they sound brilliant, i soooooo want this album O.O XD
@Millygraham lol The Beatles album that came out when two have passed..... RIP John and George. We hope you appriciate ths album wherever you should be now. You will be in our hearts forever.
@musicxxisxxawesome hm.. don't worry, that one person will live alone for fourty years listening to rap and living with 52 cats. We're the lucky ones.
the sirens going off at about 9 minutes in remind me of the musical CATS for some odd reason...."Macavity!!!!"
Love. This. Album! so so much! My band played an arrangement of this arrangement. It was EPIC. I've been glued to this album ever since. :) Eleanor Rigby is my favorite.
Yeah. We played only a handful of songs from the entire album here. We only did Because, Drive My Car/What You Doin', Eleanor Rigby, Hey Jude, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. There were two others aswell, but I can't remember which they were... I had the Bass clarinet part, which pretty much covered all the lower harmony and bass solos. :)
