There are 2 basic species, the first specie has funnel like flowers, unfortunately it's flowers don't smell, but while it's easier for the insects to enter the funnel, this specie is propagated very much in nature. The 2nd specie has more complicated flowers which smell strongly and sweetly even from a distance, especially on hot days.
Thanks, Nice tips....but I wish you could wear gloves and show us all on a real oleander plant what you mean by pruning at the three leaves. I planted some 2 years ago....along my front and side lawn. I just don't have a green thumb...don't know where to prune. I'm afraid I'll kill them.
@saharra22469 The plant has to be semi wood in order to prune, as she tells you, you can prune at the point it does 2 branches like the letter Ψ you cut at the basis of Ψ. Don't worry, oleanders are die hard plants. My country is full of them, it could be our national plant, but olive tree has stolen the crown :-)
@hrbear Thank you for the tips : ) I've pruned. They are thriving. I've been to Athens and Cyprus (Greek side : ) love it. Wish I could go back. Actually, I wish I could live in in a tiny house in the country there and grow olives and have ducks and little nubian goats. Those ppl have it made. They live a wonderful life. I would trade in a New York minute.
@saharra22469 Yes, it's a wonderful life, I know. My grandma lived in such a village, they were keeping chicken, and nubian goats. They had also grapes in the garden, huzelnut tree, almond tree, and others. I also lived in a house for a Summer in Cyprus (Troodos mountain), in which you had to burn pine cones and woods to warm the heater for the bath. :-) Did you see the traditional donkeys which carry fresh bread in the basket, and the traditional small white ovens in Cyprus? :-) Did you eat
This is a video. Why are you not demonstrating?

thanks for nothing, when I want to see how to trim a plant, I want to SEE it

I agree that showing how to by actually cutting one would really help us out for we are unsure on taking the first step.

i liked your video and was very informative but it would have been nice to see you actually cut a stem to demonstrate what you said.
