John Sykes is the man. After breathing new life in Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, he comes out with a fantastic band of his own. One of the all time greats in Rock who is vastly underrated.
Wow, hell yeah! I forgot Weird Al had that show on MTV but I remember this performance very well. At that time I didn't really know who Sykes was. But this performance sold me on the band and I went out and got the album after seeing this. Just plain killer, thanks so much for putting it up.
First, great song and band, Two, how many rock bassists do you see playing a fretless bass!!!! An Third, on, That Metal Show, Sykes announced that he and Mike Portnoy were laying down tracks for demos for a new record and hoping to get Bob Rock to produce! Put on your seat belts when that is released!!!!! I can't wait! I don't remember the bass players name. But what a power trio that will be!!!
When he starts talking with that thick pommie accent, oh shit fuckin cracked me up. Wasn't expecting that, you'd expect a californian drawl with that hair!! Bass player has no shoes!!! Great song!
Back before pro tools, and pitch correction you had to find talened people to be in your band that could play and sing. John is holding down two guitar parts and singing... and he wrote the stuff. These day's why would you practice a guitar when you can play guitar hero?
most guys who can shred ur head off... cant write a good song for shyt, john sykes can do it all, and he does it with flair and BALLS, a true guitar hero who sadly to say..alot of people dont even know, sykes is the guy all over the whitesnake album that went no.1, not no vivian campbell or vandenberg-both good players but....nothin on JS-PERIOD!
Saw them live in 91 and all I could do is stand there with a glazed look on my face, occassionally shanking my head in disbelief. If you think this rocks, you should hear the non-video-compressed version.. face melting, just face melting.
Looks like Carmine on the drums, met him in best buy 1 day,he was fantastic, great Human being, yah didn't know they were this good,I heard they were, but never got around to checkin em out. Glad I did!! damn they Rock...
I think maybe there is a keyboard player off screen. You can see him between 5:06 and 5:10. It doesn't sound like the studio version with live vocals. I think they are just good.
you can tell they are syncing by what carmine is playing on the drums. he doesn't play some of the fills and there are some crashes that he didn't play.
@jcm8002204 LOL guy you are soooooooo wrong about this! If you had ever seen this band live, you would understand that they really were so good it was hard to believe they were playing it.... But they were!
Unfortunately, They are singing LIVE over a pre-recorded audio track due to production constraints....you can see several small miscues (missed cymbal crashes and some minor fret position locations)...but great live vocals...and a great song by seriously great musicians....

Sykes playing is always so thoughtful to the melody, Most songwriters never find that balance.
