@astrix1251 did you get frozen like Austin powers through out the 2000's or something? there was tons of good music in the 2000's like voodoo, does that ring a bell? outkast?
@tacosaucemafia nah not frozen just like i said spoiled by the 90's when good music was in abundance and we didn't have to search hard to find it, which is what i was doing in the 2000's. Plus I wasn't a big fan of voodoo but Bilal's 1st born second album still gets played to this day and that was dropped in like 03
Does anyone know what the kind of piano is that is used in this song? The one that plays that same background melody throughout? I know it's electric, but is it like a celeste? clav, scarbee, etc...
he plays the fender rhodes and/or the hammond b3...runs filters thru the track then loops what he played like a sample...i would love to know what cane first...the bassline the drums or the keys...whatever he did dude created and still creates classic shyt...
@tatemunja and @Doughnuts009 you guy are not the only 1ns I been ovin D'angelo since he 1st came out and Im only 19 I always loved good music like this!!!
I dig ya, Im 19 and I love D'Angelos music. My mother used to listen to him when ii was younger so he grew unto me over the years. Its good c some people who listen to his music too :)
@shaneebabychick Um...My friend got on my computer and typed this...Guess he was looking up music. Personally, don't care for this type of music at all, so yup, Sorry for the confusion.
@2009IceCold Cool it's good to k now that I'm not the only person of my generation to listen to this great music. People always trip out because a person my age(19) is listening to this music, compared to the trash today on mainstream radio . D is the best, bring the one of the leading kings of neo-soul back. We miss u D :(
Everytime I listen to this I HAVE to go the song 2U4U by Slum V because of the sample, but then I come right back to this joint. Im so happy that people make music like this and that Dilla recognized real! Real recognize real right y'all?!?
This song is fuckin' mint. From one of my favourite albums, Brown Sugar! I think it's better than Voodoo though Voodoo is usually higher rated. BS is just more soulful and jazzy, it's so great! :D
A "jonz in my bonz" is like when you have a strong feeling or burning desire for something. You can have a Love Jonz" about a person or Jonz for a better career, life, happines.....ect
Nah homie, but it sounds as though he did, huh? Actually D'Angelo produced this song as well as the entire Brown Sugar album, which was released in 95. Even though Ali Shaheed Muhammad played a role in this album (not this song), The Ummah production group feat. Muhammad, Q-Tip, and Dilla wasn't formed until 96. D'Angelo was cool with Dilla, as a member of the Soulquarians, and Dilla did some remixes for D'Angelo. But he had nothing to do with this album. Peace
@JamesUhuruRBG4LIFE I'm not tryin to defy you man, if you check out the interview where Pharcyde speaks on Dilla, it clearly states that Dilla worked on this track.
Funny thing is Dilla sampled this song on SV's Fantastic Vol. 2. And Dilla was a major inspiration source for Voodoo. Just read the interviews and of course the entire sound of Voodoo shows that as well.
@TVybe I don't know about ahead of his time. He was definitely a great artist but he seemed to blend the old school soul with the modern pop/r&b of that day.
