  • I've seen this video before with the music "Ordinary Day" by Duran Duran

  • Eoin, could you at least tell me what song and by whom had to be removed? I watched this video before the copyright claim and still remember I liked the music. Thanks

  • What i mean to say is that Messi is the best today, thats that. Yet its not like he single-handedly does everything and wins championships on his own, look at the players around him in Barca. With that midfield anyone would be top player today. Im not taking any credit from him, but thats a punctuality that favors him a little cuz its not like Barcelona is Messi and ten others

  • @Carlos19xd3 Of course,Barça has a fantastic team, but Messi contributies to that as well. I believe no player today would perform at his level and with his consistency, even in that team. Football's always been a team sport, and the players u mentioned also had excellent teams around them. Pelé played in maybe the best team in history in 1970, Zidane's France was an amazingly balanced team etc. Frankly the only player to single-handedly (or almost single-handedly) win anything was Maradona IMO.

  • maradonna - great pele - better george - best

  • @pedrokaaaaaaaaaaaaaa why Ronaldo man, have you not heard or watched about the 1998 & 2002 World Cups, and look at all the goals he scored, although i agree with the rest of the ones you mentioned

  • To think that young punks today who dont know the ABC of football dare to put Messi in the same category as Pelé and Maradona. I mean really, Best, Eusebio, Gullit, ZICO, Cruyff, Falcao, Ronaldo, Garrincha, Platini, Van Basten, Rivelinho, Beckembauer, Zidane. Yeah right cuz they were nobodys right? Respect the sport and its history

  • @Carlos19xd3 who says the players u mentioned are NOT in that same category? They are all legends of the game. Messi is too, or will be soon if he keeps performing at this level consistently. The fact remains that he's the best of his generation and has been very consistent and decisive at the highest level at the most difficult time for an individual player to shine in football history. And yes, I do NOT consider the World Cup as the 'highest level' in today's game.

  • the most similar player to maradona and messi

  • His technique was the best in the world.

  • What a great player, I really think he's underrated. really messi looks like him. But we cannot compare footballers. You cannot compare him with maradonna as you cannot compare ronaldo with messi, you cannot compare Cruyff with Cantona, just an example. but conlcusion, What a great player..

  • messi

  • lol 3.14 is the ultimate poachers goal.

  • @fondrom did you seriously just say the ball was easier to kick back then? You are a moron. If messi played for man utd you would all be saying how ronaldo is a better player. Best practised so much with his left door he eventually almost became left footed, unlike messi who's right foot is just used as a decorative piece

  • Russia love you

  • riding tackles like a boss! any modern player would be down rolling on the floor clutching their ankle under the same challenge...

  • if he was so good, why did he win just one european cup, never even participated in a national tournament and won 2 english titles. i have heard of players that you people say arent as talented as him but won like 3 or 4 times as much stuff. good player, doesnt seem like a good person.

  • @crazygamer241 That's why you can't compare eras - wrong nationality for greatness, carried Man Utd for many years with an aging squad. Humanly flawed, walked away at his pinnacle like Borg in tennis. So yes, not many titles, but you won't see skill like this anymore, particularly today when a simple challenge or tackle becomes an Oscar production. So enjoy what you see here, never to be repeated.

Glanville: "Men are we, and must mourn, even when the shade of that which was great has passed.."

  • @crazygamer241 Why doesnt he seem like a good person? Because he had a crippling addiction? Thats nonsense. He never participated in a national tournament because he played for Northern Ireland, I'm sure if NI had the players around him that Brazil or even England had he would have won a world cup, but they didn't. The United team he played in reached its peak winning the 68' European Cup and after that he had to carry an ageing team.

  • Does anyone else think Messi's style is similar to George Best's?

  • @sh4p3shifter Yes but George Best wasn't just a football player...was an super star...A WAY OF LIFE!!!!

  • @sh4p3shifter Ditto

  • good vid gay song

  • magnificent.

  • Fifth of The Beatles

  • Comment removed

  • football back in the older days r so much more different u cant compare between older nd newer players

  • Maradona good, Pele better, George Best!!!

  • He was true skill wow

  • I'm glad he's dead..............

  • @deadscumpigs2 you are gonna stay alive forever?

  • mainly was a drunkard. Rooney will be the next with liver cirrhosis

  • And who is that Messi-boy, all of whom speak?

  • i am sorry to kill the "best" party, but this looks a big joke compare to what i see from messi today.messi own him by miles

  • @flotech66 in 20-30 years the same things will be said about messi

  • @Fosronis messi is something else my friend

  • @flotech66 yes he is at the time, so was this guy on the video at his time.

in all sports records are meant to be broken.

  • @flotech66 And Does'nt it make your negative heart smile

  • i love George Best FROM ALGERIA

  • 2:12 this one really stood out, how terrible defenders where, look at that guy, Best had all the time and space to control the ball, a modern defender would have steppin in, exspecialy in that position, this defender is walking backwards and i dont even know whats he doing ( he probably didn't knew either) defenders where more than a joke!

  • @moluksefreefighter01 ever wonder what a modern george best would do ?

  • @Fosronis What would he do? dribble past 5 defenders and score each game? nah he hasn't got the vision or the calmness to be great in the modern game, he would be just a dribbler in the modern game.

  • @moluksefreefighter01 still excellent with ball and he would still score goals you think new players are better ?

and for what defenses are you talking about in la liga defenses are shit in england goalkeeprs are shit and so on

  • @Fosronis of course good with the ball and score goals, but not like he did it back then, he would be a good player, but not in the same list as the greats right now. i talk about the SHITTY defenders back then in england, just lumberjacks who could only tackle, so easy for best to get past defenders like that, also the defenders could not play football,, they had no sense of positioning, no backup cover, and no pressure game at all, they defend while walking backwards. EPL is also shit btw.

  • @moluksefreefighter01 there where other obstacles for attackers back then there was no red card so u received rough challenges constantly . modern football is full of divers anyway so if you call old football joke then its also a joke now.

  • @Fosronis Pressure a opponent is WAY more effective, and way more annoying for the opponent than rough challenges. modern football has more diving yes, but also more quality, much faster, much better, much more tactical, better organisation, everything is better right now, so now football is not a joke right now, diving makes it bad, but there are MANY more good things compared to back then, MUCH MORE.

  • @moluksefreefighter01 you are so much right, the defenders back then were really silly.

best can't be in the same list with messi or maradona

  • @flotech66 True.

  • @flotech66 When Georgie played any defender look ridiculous

  • @moluksefreefighter01 he would have even more speed than he had and he wouldnt play drunk . if you cant recognize his talent you are blind.

  • @Fosronis Still he missed the football intelligence, the calmness, and the vision, something you need in the modern game to be upthere with the best.

  • @moluksefreefighter01 thats why i said modern he would be trained with new ways so he would have more calm and intelligence he did what was needed in the pitch in his era and was successful . his biggest enemy was the drinking though.

  • @Fosronis Football intelligence is something you cant teach someone. best had the qualitys he had, and that was mostly dribbling, he didn't had killer troughpasses or smart off the ball movement, he was a great player with the ball, but not enough to be a great player in this era. why aren't there players right now who can dribble past 5 defenders couple of times in 1 match? besides messi? back then there where alot who could do that, simply because the game was so much worse

  • @moluksefreefighter01 its not worse its outdated, anyway its a matter of opinion but personally i think there is nothing more retarded than players diving and not getting punished. look at cristiano ronaldo every time he looses the ball he is on the ground trying to milk fouls and penalties and he is the most expensive transfer in history that must say something.

  • pure genius if he were playing today i dont think any club could afford him , bad pitches heavy greasy ball no protection from referees and football then was a contact sport in full but he still played with the grace combined with strength that players today simply cannot do , also he had two good feet which is non existent in players today , and from a female point of view he was also drop dead gorgeous without all the pampering todays players have , oh and yes i do know the offside rule xxx

  • Filthy Irish Tramp ! The drunk was one of life's losers !

  • @DeadManUtdBastards you Fukin tosser

  • 2:48, seeing Kompany, vermaelen, vidic or ferdinand defending like that? even a amateur defender in todays football would have done that better!

  • The whole defence in this video was a JOKE! just like pele andmaradona videos! joke of defenders! dont give any backup, wasn't even tactical, players just walk around the pitch, there was no structure, they never heard of playing between the lines, the tempo was so slow, the players where less educated, with all the new technology and the 5 days a week trainingsessions, football back then was shit compared to todays football.

  • @moluksefreefighter01 i just have to say something wise up no wonder the defense was bad cause he was unreal people dont say that about messi ronaldinho or ronaldo

  • @callumjason HAHAHA unreal? for dribbling past 5 defenders who couldn't even defend? with no backup cover at all? with no tactics at all? pfff messi does the same thing with better ballcontrol and in this era against modern top notch defenders who KNOW how to defend! really think best could dribble like tyhis against vidic, kompany, vermaelen, ferdinand. terry? NEVER!

  • @moluksefreefighter01 u are a faggot

  • @Fosronis Wrong guy, you should have send it to yourself i think.

  • i was reletated to him :)

  • messi+c.ronaldo+ronaldo+ronaldinho+every1else= half george best

  • Giggs is great, George Best but Bales in a different class!

  • what a player, fantastic.

  • My Hero :x My Idol :x My love :x

  • I grew up watching Best and the Busby Babes when I was a child. George Best was absolutely amazing. I later saw Maradona and Pele play and despite belief that these were the two best ever, they pale in comparison to George Best.

  • @StarWarsUpdates agree, i watched all 3 too, Best is the Best.

  • I come back and watch this video at least 3 times a week. And I HATE seeing people that are just hating, even about random things that don't concern the video. Just shut the fuck up and enjoy the magic that was George Best.

I wish I could have seen him play. Forever a fan, George even 50 years on you are still entertaining us. R.I.P

  • ya he dejado de beber, pero solo cuando duermo

  • George best was the best, if he didn't drink and have such a crazy off the field life he would of done even more :)

  • only the best.

  • Best once said: "if i wasnt that pretty i would have become the best player in the footbal history"

  • Haha only the usual english fantasizing trying to pretend an englisher is the best player

  • @Shojahan George Best was not English you faggot. Get your facts right ;)

  • @Hollistar91 He sucks, but he's not bad enough to be irish, so I thought he must only be english. But thanks for clearing that up fuckface.

  • I'm glad he's dead, the world's a better place without the filthy alcoholic tramp.

  • including filmiku can clearly see that George Best was a phenomenal player. But I do not understand one thing: George Best, even though he played in not a difficult era of football, fired little very little goals, and yet it is so valued by you. I will not understand.

  • @David20092 easy: he wasn't a striker!! he was a winger and sometimes only an attacking midfielder.

  • @ndruwebb George Best was just stinker. And defenser Ferdnando Hierro was average per game more effective.

  • Comment removed

  • @ndruwebb Now I think, that George Best is really abaout top 10 best player ever ! Based on statistic he was better winger than Garrincha!

  • @David20092 he scored man goals 150 for man utd playing as a winger football is not just about goals, also he played in the same team as two great goal scorers

  • The british fanbase video will always make george best the best. But all the footballers themselves call Maradona the greatest.

  • @farabirview I doubt it.

  • @farabirview they were both fantastic hard to depict who was better to me the top 3 was zidane, best and maradonna

  • "Maradona good, Pele better, George best!"

  • @Parrock1 I agree, and we have to remember that Best played on swamps with extremely heavy boots and balls like rocks. True genius

  • Best was fantastic. Messi is the closest thing I've seen to him because like Best, he picks the ball up deep and skips through defences before finishing. I'm blessed to have seen both men play football.

  • R.I.P George im irish to

  • Maradona?!..Good!

    Pelè?!...Better!

    GEORGE?!...BEST!!

  • i muted this incongruous goth-pop rubbish and played "rock n roll" by led zeppelin over this video.

  • @cheapboots Actually if Messi and C. Ronaldo would have played 40 years ago .... they would have been the GREATEST OF ALL TIME no doubt about it. Player nowadays have way better cardiovascular training and stamina. Sure they wouldn't probably survived because of the kicks but that's the beauty of football these days , it's safer like it should be. This ain't supposed to be kickboxing , just skills.

  • @superlucas010578 Ronaldo wasn't as good as Best in my opinion - not that close either. Messi is not so far away, and not a dissimilar player in the things he can do to opposition defences. I think it's a moot point to argue about fitness then and now because, if Best had been playing today, he'd be as fit as the modern players.

  • @Parrock1 Perhaps you are right !!!!! It's useless to talk about it 'cause we will never know for sure.

  • @joxer20 thank you very much

  • @cheapboots Are you serious.

  • Pure class! As a liverpool fan through and through till i die. My god what a player and gift this man had! i wasnt alive to witness his greatness, but not many a player has come through like george did, a few have but he was a different league. Just think how much he would be worth in todays market!!!! A legend. In the top 3 of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was not born when Best is shining. But he is really the Best

  • It's like saying the tennis champ on 1980 was better than federer cos the balls and rackets were shit then. It's bullshit. Federer is/was a world class athlete vs other world class athletes vs again the basically amateurs of yesteryear

  • You guys dont seem to realise these external points are irrelevant in an A V B contest best vs messi. George best was drinking smoking at half time. playing vs basically amateurs. This is a fact from factors that George Best cant control .ie the era. and more. Messi is much fitter playing vs world class opposition on a regular basis and exceling vs best being a genius of his time playing vs people who wouldnt get their game in division 2 nowdays. All sports improve

  • Theres an important point to note. Look at how poor at football everyone who attempts to tackle him is in the video. Mostly wild lunges. Doubt he would run rings around people like that in 2011 World Football, and Messi does.

  • @godsofwar1310 Good point football has improved alot since those days, in all aspects, defending, attacking, more organised, the pitches etc.. but remember how physical football use to be? the refs back then would rarely give free kicks / fouls, and nowadays they give a free kick for anything, a brush on the shoulder.. Would Messi last in such physical conditions?? gettings kicked, punched, chopped.. I highly doubt it, football has evolved since then. George Best is and will always be a legend

  • @godsofwar1310 George Best was doing what messi is doing now 40 years ago. The game was far more physical, the skillful players werent protected the way the are now. The boots and playing surfaces were laughable compared to what there is today. Keep in mind Best mantained such a high level of play despite the damage the alcohol and partying were doing to his body.

  • @blancitosrs

Good point their, but the competition that time was absolutely shit. Nowadays, the competition is so tough the players back then wouldn't of been as effective.

Not to mention keepers were extra shit at club level back then, and the ball was like a beachball and x5 easier to shoot & score than todays ball.

I never saw Best play so I can't judge

but I think messi is the best player in history

  • @blancitosrs

Look carefully at the defenders here, there rubbish. their all just running like headless chickens towards him or slide tackling out of nowhere, slide tackles are easy to ready

I don't know whether Best is just too good or the defenders are so shit,

  • best in his name for a reason

  • please tell me this song ...

  • @heroic2809 Evanescence - My Immortal

  • what is the song this video???? help me

  • the amount of times that Best gets kicked and hacked and fouled and stays on his feet puts the likes of Ronaldo to absolute shame.

  • Watching George Best with the Beatles music is the best.

  • jogava como nossos craques brasileiros

  • george best was a soccer player dribbling the accuracy of its highly accurate and unrivaled until he dies

  • his technique... simply amazing...

  • George Best = Messi

  • As Pele once said, 'George best was the greatest player in the world'

  • @ali903 Imagine if pele said c.ronaldo was the best player in the world during the 07/08 season, thats basically what he meant about best, ie he was the best player in the world AT ONE POINT IN TIME.

  • How caan anyone not see that he is truly one of the top 3 wingers of all time after seeing the vid?Truly the best!

  • Soo sad

  • song is sad

  • Really no one like him tho

  • I'm glad the filthy pissed-up tramp's dead

  • @DeadManUtdBastards Shut up stupid.Your just another twat hiding behind your computer screen trolling.

  • I have to confess that only today I've learned about Mr best and came to youtube to check it out. Amazing player and a sad story, a little bit like "Garrincha" an amazing footballer and unsung hero.

With all due respect also, but I think Pele is in another (superior) and unattainable level

  • Maradonna-good,pele-better,George Best!

  • George Best is amazing...probably the second best English player who ever lived.

  • What a fabulous player George was, he had it all, what a shame his life turned out the way it did, he had so much talent and I feel he could have helped others with their dreams of becoming a professional player.

  • @rosechris48 I take your point but in a way he did more to help others than any other player certainly in Britain...basically for a whole generation every boy putting on his boots dreamed of being George Best. I know because I did. Literally every young player in Britain and Ireland dreamed of playing like he did. Every schoolyard game had 22 George bests.

  • @tigerarmyrule Yes, I know you are right. He was an inspiration to other boys, I remember him getting into trouble with Sir Matt because he did not turn up for training after nights out. I don` really think he knew what he had with his football talent. I would love to see the greats of today come up against George as he was then, I don`t thinnk they would look so great.

  • play this with Maxence Cyrin - Where Is My Mind (The Pixies Piano Cover)

    over the top!

  • respect for george. I dont think i saw him dive once in the whole video. He had real respect for the game

  • I get your points and they make sense. As I said it's all a matter of opinion. It's difficult to place Best amongst the pantheon of greats, I just believe for 2-3 years at his absolute best there was never a player as good/naturally skilled. There's a tribute by johanceder titled George Best Tribute (1946-2005).believe was past his best even by the very early 70's, and when match of the day started filming some of his genius was never captured, but there hints of his skill on a few videos.

  • that alot of footage of Best from his peak is not recorded, it only came in as he was coming through, but I can direct you to a few vids that give a glimpse of this. I'm not a total Best nuthugger, but according to my father and his mates he was just sublime week in week out, you couldn't teach the instinct he had, and obviously the pure skill.EG: some believe Kasparov to be the greatest chess player of alltime, some argue that it was the natural genius of Fisher, like george gone too soon.

  • @Queenwraith BTW, another Brazilian player, Tostão, actually did a number on Moore in 70 when Brazil scored, take a look.

I know that a lot of footages of Best were not recorded, but exactly the same goes to Pelé. Many of his matches in the 60s were not recorded too.

Anyway, as I stated before, I think its very hard to compare players of different positions. We can´t compare Cruyff to Bobby Moore neither Pelé to Iashin. We can compare, e.g., Best to Garrincha or Jairzinho, and Pelé to Cruyff..

  • eg: Best was completely different to Pele and Maradona in how he played, it's all about effectiveness and how they contribute to/dominate games and results.

  • maybe not the best but he is the most talented with no doubt

  • It takes a great to know a great. Yes we've all heard Pele say that Best was the greatest player in the world and without comparisson-people put this down to Pele being humble, but he seen something in George that was almost supernatural, a true football genius. It depends how you measure greatness,if you put it down to longevity, titles etc Best probably wouldn't make the top 100. But, if you judge greatness on pure natural genius, Best was without comparison and to many was the best of all-time.

  • A super player no doubt but how would he play against todays defences,i don`t think he`d be as effective, todays football, faster, far fitter, more skilful, technical and very organised,it was easier for him to shine in those times, greatness is maradona, platini, cruyff, pele, they`ve proved themselves at the very pinnacle.Even gazza was magnificent so best and he were ruined by drink,if sir alex only had best????

  • What a player he was. We miss you George.

  • I am laughing and crying at the video. Genius - pure genius.

He was the greatest drbbler of the football I have ever seen - Messi is nowhere near his match.

Pity he wasn't English or German. He would probably have had more recognition playing in a bigger team but I am sure he was very proud to play for Northern Ireland. Thanks for the upload.

  • What strikes me from videos about, say, Best, Maradona and Cruyff is that there are no fancy tricks, just outstanding ball control and speed. No 'leg sweeping' à la Cristiano Ronaldo and others. And Best doesn't fall for nothing when you hit him, unlike the modern sissies. So Italians, Spanish and others, stay on your fucking feet and stop crying.

  • @ALDead666 Totally right. The finest pure dribblers were Best and Cruyff. No silly prancing, no "look at me" dancing about. Instead they injected pace and skill....Bobby Charlton said the 4 things that marked Best out were pace, balance, nerve and ball control. No diving or crying, no fancy trickes, just pace balance nerve and control applied to beating his man. Cruyff was similar. Fantastic though Messi is he will never be subjected to the tackling Best was so his nerve will never be tested.
