  • How much?

  • Comment removed

  • WTF?

  • neat.

  • how fast does it shoot and how many grains tip and arrow

  • Looks too complicated to want to bet your life on. If you had it in your pack and took a tumble when you got thru dusting yourself off you'd realize you had broken your weapon. I don't see the advantage it offers over a normal crossbow or even a slingshot/slingbow type setup.

  • Really good idea and superb demo :)

  • Good for camping

  • One use it could be used for is getting the cooking and cleaning done.

Just point this at your servant and bingo - clean hoose.

  • ggggggaaaa ha ha haaa haaa ha ha aaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy

  • hmm survival situation better take my woodland flipper XD

  • thats pretty cool how and where do i buy one?

  • Pretty sure this would just piss the bear off more than anything.

  • id shoot a bear with it and then run like hell screaming at the top of my lungs :p

  • Where can one buy this . . . .also by increasing the bands what is the max poundage?

    THX

  • With a small, single action ratchet lever with one or two teeth, the draw could be increased by a few pounds. A crank could be used with a folding handle as well. That would allow it to be boosted easily by someone with less strength in a survival situation where stealth is preferable. If you leave the basic function available without needing to implement the over-crank feature, then fast shots will be possible for small targets. Bodkins for thick hide, old drill bits for bleed out. Tinker on it

  • How does one find where to buy them

  • Very nice..

I especially like it for B.O.B. applications

  • cool contraption.

  • nah id prefer a bow

  • lol @ the dude talking about using that for bears. I live in bear country, trust me your better off playing dead. You would just piss off a bear with that thing.

  • $150 I think is steep. It's neat and all but I would prob prefer a crossbow.

  • What's the point of it when you could get a .22 rifle that's just as big?

  • build it to be 45 or 50 pound draw. then you could take small game and large game. just a thought.

  • As much as I'd love to support the creator, I feel like I'd rather build one myself than wait around another year for any news.

  • this is cool but only 2 things i see wrong with it....

1.) could use use a better trigger mechanism!!!

2.) could also break down smaller for tighter compact storage.....

but all in all it is cool!!

  • @MrGattor33 This is a design that has been finalized after many years of work & thought to boil it down to the best for manufacturability, durability, simplicity & effectiviness. A "better" trigger mech would add cost & complexity, as would any additional effort for further "break down". Be safe! John

  • its like a crossbow and a bow put together

  • Hey Guys. I wanted to let everyone know that I spoke to Dennis today, and he's planning to have a new batch of flippers ready after the first of the year. Thanks for being patient. Merry Christmas! John

  • Thanks for the info. Couple questions. Is there a color choice? And how many rubber bands or poundage comes stock? Anc can you buy more rubber bands? Does he have a website?

    Thanks

  • @rabbgp The colors choices are OD, tan & black. It comes with 8 bands which takes it to the 30 pound nominal pull weight. More bands are available. He does not have a website. Be safe! John

  • Would be very interested to buy one of these, but purchase or contact info seems non-existant.

  • @rabbgp The current price is $150, and the info is under "show more" button. I'll send you a PM. Thanks! John

  • Im also interested in a REB (Reverse Energy Bow) or one of these Survival Flippers. I would really like to purchase a REB before this tech is lost forever. Maybe you could help me contact Dennis as well.

  • doesnt look like it could take a deer, but its still a cute little toy

  • I just called the number and it's no longer in used. Is there another way to contact Dennis Woodland? I'd really like to get one!!! The REB as well.

  • @Tint1111 I'll call Dennis & make sure he see's your request. John

  • @TheOtherEddie Thank you. Really appreciate it.

  • That is badass !

  • Straight to the bug out bag, retreivable ammo, legal anywhere, simple, light and perfect for rabbit, hares, birds etc etc.

  • Everyone has been spoiled. A deer can be taken with a 25 pound bow. As far as wild hogs I have killed a hog with a .22 so I would imagine a . 30 pound bow with a broad head would kill one too.....

  • @ferdonandebull dude people dont realize the power of 30 lbs! i have taken deer with a 22 so i know it can be done! that thing is cool and silent, id love one but in ny where im at. crossbows are illegal! i wonder what this classifies as? compound compact ?

  • Would prolly be most effective for fish and frogs, etc. I had considered a lightweight spear-gun, for these ... the flipper would be better than that and better than a blow-gun ... but, yeah ... you should consider rigging it for fishing and also design a way to break it down to the size of a Sven-Saw. (one linear bundle, under 18" long) ... Would also be more desirable, to me, if I could use common surgical tubing, rather than proprietary rubber bands. I want commonly available parts & ammo.

  • @phrankus2009 phrankus. The rubber bands aren't proprietary, they can be ordered from their mfg, but I am sure surgical tubing could be used. I had thought about that for mine, but I haven't tested it.With fishing, you de-rate the draw weight, for fishing & frogs, so you don't break the arrows. I am also told that you need a solid fiber glass arrow, because a hollow one won't penetrate the water. I wouldn't have thought that, but it makes sense. A break down design was going dive the cost way up

  • @TheOtherEddie "drive" the cost up, that is!

  • Dang. I'll take one.

  • I gotta get my daddy to buy me one of these !!!!!

  • I want 1 !

  • These have been tested up to 65 pounds. FYI. John

  • Great invention.

  • hinge the handles so it can fold thinner

  • Excuse me how much does this cost?

  • and fyi, native americans were harvesting deer and bear with 15-20 lb primitive bows, 30 lbs is plenty if your within 30 or so yards, with sharp broadheads you can effectively harvest deer and small game (rabbits, turkey etc..) as well.

  • Ill take one, you cant beat that for use in a bug out or in a survival. i love it.

  • Ill take 1

  • Where can u get that plz send back

  • @rctraxxasjoel If you're interested in more info or looking to purchase a "Flipper", contact Dennis Woodland at 864-638-7403. Be safe! John

  • ill buy it

  • That was a perfect vader voice at the end there.

  • for hunting medium game the size of say a pig or fox, you need minimum of 50 pound, if you are going to shot large game like a BEAR with that you may as well spit in its eye, it will do jack shit

  • @dao2fan Just get a Regular bow with adjustable cams...

  • Nifty little gizmo, a 30 pound compound crossbow powered by rubber bands is hardly a survival tool though. The survivalists in the video should maybe rethink their suggestion that a bush pilot should carry this toy. You go up against a boar hog with this and you're going to end up hurt, or worse. Small game and birds is the limit for 30 pound draw.

  • Right..........I want one!!!

  • I'm gonna order one....awesome lil bow!...well done, sir.

  • Where can I get one???

  • Great idea! I can tell alot of time has been put into this product

  • i would rather have a take down recurve or long bow and a $150 for that peice of crap

  • pretty much what he is saying this is a great tool to piss of a bear or wild boar

  • its pretty cool but 150 is pretty pricy for that thing

  • Nifty contraption but id take a slingshot over that in an actual survival situation.

  • Lightweight small compound bow would make a much better option and accurate to about 70 yards alot stronger too. Love the vids scootch keep em comin.

  • How can I get one!!

  • looks fun

  • @85wifebeater

    An axe?

    REALLY?

    Axe...

I don't think anyone would have an axe, nor would it make a difference.

This is not a viable self defense option....

  • sorry bout that didnt pull it down the first time thanks for the info!

  • What kind of power/ poundage are we talkin about here?

  • where can i get one

  • @charles451911

    Read the description.

  • What is the effective range and draw weight on the flipper?

  • i must have missed the info. this looks awesome were can i get one?

  • @lel356

    Read the description.

  • cool lil bow

  • good luck taking down a bear with that!!!!

  • @5furio7 I dont need luck, hehehe. ;D

  • OR just get a gun...

  • next: i introduce to you , the-bullet shooter! it shoots bullets!

"isint that like a gun?" NO GODDAMNINT!! ITS A BULLET SHOOTER! B-U-L-L-E-T

    S-H-O-O-T-E-R!

  • Its different, but I still like the sling shot better because its smaller. And its cheaper than a compound.

  • yeah... they already have these- called COMPOUND BOWS

  • why not just buy a compact bow?

  • @OneManWolfPak How many bows do you know that are that size and weight.

  • @Kylef7735 ...a carbon fiber bow is that weight, what does size have to do with it?

  • @OneManWolfPak ITs designed as a survival item, a tiny thing that can be stowed away in a backpack. Not a full size bow that takes up tons of room.

And i doubt this will cost near what a carbon fiber bow costs.

  • with no disrespect, but i think if you shot a bear with one of those (really cool by the way, I want one!) youd just make it mad.

  • @jzj555 call Dennis at 864-638-7403

  • @jzj555 Is a bear considered small game?

  • @wheremygat187

Not in my state. small games like possum, squirrel, woodchuck, raccoon, etc.... Bears can stand 6ft + and easily weigh several hundred pounds.

  • @jzj555 Then it seems obvious that this thing is not made for shooting bears. BTW im going to order one of these in a week or so with some tax money, are you getting one? They do look like they would be fun to shoot rabbits and such.

  • @wheremygat187 Not at the moment, but i will eventually. Its so cool! I want one.

  • as an engineer, i can tell you that with those materials you'll probably only need new bands sometimes just because of the nature of rubber and to chance the string eventually but the rest should last years

  • @sootch00 Can you give us an update on this product, I am drooling over this and need to buy one really bad, lol.

  • @wheremygat187 The weather has not been conducive to any new vids lately, but we have several in the planning stages. John

  • @wheremygat187 call 864-638-7403 ask for Dennis

  • Ok I think its Really Cool now can I get one and How Much ?

  • @nonnievera You can call him at 864-638-7403. John

  • @nonnievera , call 864-638-7403 ask for Dennis

  • I think this is a really cool gear item. With that said IDK if I would be willing/able to implement it into my kit. As small as it breaks down, it is nowhere near as handy as my KelTec Sub2000. I get 33 rounds of 9mm with my glock mags =) It is a firearm, but I tend to take@ least one along with me when I camp. Call me crazy but I value my party's safety a bit more then what the p.c. law is. Worried about size & weight? Why not take a pistol in .22lr, or better yet in .22 mag? NAA MiniMaster =)

  • @Belushi32 because of the weight of 22 rounds, i cant see anything being better than a 22 in your bag as a survival weapon. You can tote around 500 rounds of 22 ammo without taking much space at all. I like your thinkin. My new favorite rimfire round is definetly the 17hmr. However for small game, I dont think anything out does the 22lr or short. Just to much power behind the 22mag, and 17hmr. They blow up squirrel and rabbits. A Mark III and a handful of 22lr would be my go to gun.

  • @bubbacrabb A lot of it depends on what your size & weight constraints are. For me if I can pull it off without getting arrested I would opt for a centerfire rifle. Maybe a .30-30 or .357 mag lever-action. Where I am in the USA there isn't an animal that they wouldn't drop with a well placed shot. Remember though the velocity out of a pistol is much lower then a rifle. So that .22mag I am shooting really is on par with a .22lr out of a rifle. Not all that big of a fan of the .17hmr. Just my $.02

  • @Belushi32 Ya i was agreeing with your decision on a 22 caliber weapon for lightweight carry, and that you can carry a lot of ammo. I would opt for a larger caliber centerfire round if space and weight were not a concern. I was just agreeing with your idea. Nothing bad intended. To bad you dont like the 17hmr. Ballistically its an amazing round. So is the 22wmr. I own both. Firearms are addictive. They all have their perfect place.

  • @Belushi32 ...380 auto is small and light as well..

  • Seams like a cool idea. I dont know how practical it would be to carry around though. Doesnt really fold all that compact. A small blow gun has always been my squirrel killin back up. Or a sling shot. Would be fun to play with though. Hope it takes off for your buddy. Im sure there are plenty of people out there willing to play with it. Get an infomercial and he'll be rich. Even bad ideas seam to get rich on them them.

  • an ar 7 by henry is better because its a gun

  • @drtsnip3r1500 The flipper will not have the firearms limitation that a lot of parks impose, but the AR-7 is a great back packing option, where it legal to carry it. John

  • how cool. reminds me of something that has been around for thousands of years won many wars, killed many animals, humans, oh yeahh it's called a BOW!

wtf? i love sootch vids but this one

  • What? there are places where I can't have a fire-arm? I was born Americans so I do not recognize communist held zones inside the USA.

  • @Fockersnextdoor if you go to canada, in certain national parks, on certain official trails, you cant carry a gun

  • @TheGuyWithAWeirdName What a drag to live in place that has dangerous critters, and not be able to protect yourself on a trail walk. Hell, I pack when I take my dog for a walk in the park. Good luck driving off a pack of wolves, moose or a rabid wolverine with a can of pepper spray. God help you if all you have to protect yourself is a FLIPPER! :-)

  • @grizz474 Some gov't restricted preserves have firearms restrictions, which would make this a viable option in those area's. John

  • man it would be nice for that plan FUBAR to have somethin simple like that

  • it would be great for fun shooting and just fooling around. But you would have to be an idiot to even consider using that against a bear or boar. I can't speak much about the boars due to lack of experience BUT by the time you get it out of your bag, rigged and loaded, the bear would be right on you. You would be better off grabbing a couple large rocks (and still not be facing the bear with nothing.) Like i said great for fun good for MAYBE small game

  • Sootch does he ship to international adresses?if so could I get a pm with the details? i've asked but seems there is no answer, thank you!

  • @Dechthem call Dennis at 864=638-7403

  • now whats the differnce between that and a cross bow. Just a litte more pack-ablity

  • @MrChickentamer accualy my ball sack is bigger

  • gosh, i can't say whether that thing will become a popular backpacking item or not, but great job inventing and everything. i wish i could actually commit to materializing one of my inventions lol

  • Interesting. Certainly something for stealthy operations lol....

  • How much energy does it put behind a shot? It looks like it might be good against small animals on short ranges but could use more punch for bigger.. and I definitely wouldnt want to face a boar with that.. or a bear.

Also, figuring out to make it even smaller might be good idea.. it seems like handy tool if you could take along if you could just tuck it into some small pouch or bag.

  • looks great but i think a sling bow is better.less parts and smaller........and to say it doesnt weigh anything turns me away from this product..but whats velocity on arrows?

  • @TheBigpunn421 I am planning to do some chrono tests soon. John

  • bears and wild boar...lol...id rather yell and throw rocks, but this thing is pretty neat looking. perfect for rabbits/squirrels or small birds...bring lots of arrows though, for when the game runs/flies off wounded with your carbon fiber arrow sticking out of it (which is the most likely outcome).

  • @machinegunmana a crossbow is much larger

  • Looks nice, but it's missing something........I know, accessory rails!!!!

    Great video.

  • @Mossy500A Agreed. I think it could really benefit from an EOTech.

  • It looks very fragile.

  • @BrandonEclipse It may look fragile, but the main frame & arms are welded chorme-moly steel aircraft tubing. It is strong where it needs to be, but still very light. John

  • I couldn't help but think: Hasn't the crossbow already been invented? XD

  • @h4xx0rrx this works totally different

  • @h4xx0rrx Yes it has, and this is absolutley nothing like a crossbow.

  • @h4xx0rrx

....it can always be reinvented :)))

  • @h4xx0rrx not anything like that, its small and portable

  • @h4xx0rrx the crossbow is huge...go fly a plane over the middle of no where in the woods and let it run out of gas, you survive the crash and now are on your own with a big ass crossbow...you probably wouldn't want to carry that around. This is why this is invented.

  • @h4xx0rrx Being symmetrical doesn't mean it's a crossbow. There's no bowing tensioner.

  • that would be great in a bug out bag or in your truck. I want one

  • i can see a usefor this with disabled ppl who cant pull back a compound bow and the way it locks back like a cross bow would be great for those folks

  • Interesting.Looks like it would work great for small game. Will it fire "FluFlu Arrows" for tree bound and flying targets?

  • A Bear !! LOL your tougher than me.... no chance Id shoot a bear with this...very cool though. but on bear it seems like it would just make em mad.

  • You are first time new high tech bow better than any bow over past 2000 years, BUT you try stronger rubber for longer range. OR make bigger bow. make high speed Pffft

  • It's stealthy, I like it.

  • where could u get this

  • @matchgum09 call Dennis at 864-638-7405

  • please keep us up to date on this project. i want.

  • It is my humble opinion that that device would be tremendously more useful with a better firing mechanism. Having to pull it off throws off aim and takes far longer than it should. How hard would it be to fashion a simple lever?

  • @Ebsil0n The release mechanism is, in my opinion, a good blend between simple & effective. Dennis worked hard to keep the parts count to a minumum, which makes for a durable system, That release is actually very smooth & becomes almost second nature with a minimum of practice. Years of thought, design work & prototypes are behind the release of this product. John

  • @Ebsil0n I forgot to mention earlier that you can use a wrist release, as well.

Should have said that in the video, also. John

  • A compact bow that can also shoot marbles and fish. Not bad at all!

  • I swear this is a repost, I have seen this video before...

  • @whosthere1 You're losing it, dude!

  • @whosthere1 He says he posted it before by accident before it was a finished product.

  • @glockfan86 Thank god, I thought I was losing my marbles!

  • How well does the rubber bands do in the cold?

  • Looks like a very unique tool. Thanks for the look

  • really intersting piece of equipment its very inovative

  • @LookingDownThe45 We didn't demonstrate it in the vid, but if you are sitting, you can "hook" the back of the lower arm over your thigh when cocking it. It gives some increased leverage. It will work great from a tree stand, also. You can also lessen the pull weight by removing some of the bands, if you needed to. Or add more. John

  • Thanks!!!

  • Ok, so I spell badly, I went thru public schools. Sorry Sootch00. I think Scootch00 sounds better.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Looks like a great survival carry tool. Scootch00 thanks for another great video

  • How much?

  • @glockfan86 $150. His contact info & pricing are under the video window. John

  • would you ship to the UK if laws allow it. Firearm laws are restricting us big time, i need an alternative.

  • @HungryGoth Contact Dennis about shipping to the UK. His contact info is under the video window. John

  • Man Sootch, Your Brother talks so much like you, I had to do a double take to make sure you weren't incognito. He looks like a good sidekick.... *(cough% ROBIN%cough)*
