ooo lush sounding heads...but i need your help i play metal music and need new heads im stuck between evans ec2 and remo pinstripes ...are these heads good for metal music
I have a pearl master studio double bass kit. I paid a very good price for it 5 years ago and it's the best kit I've had. That said some pearl kits cost an INSANE amount of money. That can be said for any Upper level kit though. Drums COST TOO MUCH in general IMHO. I miss my TAMA ROCKSTAR DELUX... :(
I just don't see why a lot of people hate on Pearl. I mean, I have a Pearl kit and I love it. It sounds great and holds up very well. My uncle was a professional drummer and he signed a deal with Pearl. He has been drumming for like 47 years and he said some of the best sets he has ever played on has been Pearl.
Yea, but have you ever played a Pearl kit that you thought was over priced and then compared it to another kit that was about the same kit but lower priced? Thats not always true either, the Pearl kit I have is huge and I only payed $1200 for it, brand new. And it is a nice sounding kit two. Yea, the higher end Pearl kits are very expensive, maybe a little over priced, but I bet they are great kits. I owned a ddrum kit before my Pearl and it sounded like poop. It was low end kit too.
Well man, I wasnt getting worked up. I hate to be rude, but dude it really sounds like you don't know what your talking about. Export series are almost the lowest end Pearl kits you can get. They are almost some of the cheapest kits you can buy. Its the Pearl Masters and Pearl Reference series that are expensive. As far as low end kits go, Pearl low end kits run about the same price as any other brand. Those kits are the Pearl Forum and Export Series.
depends which sounds you want, the pearl has a overall sound and is quite warm, de starclassic is my personal favourite, a very open and warm sound, the superstar custom is a whole different price category, so... I would go for the starclassic
i would say if you like more attack get the starclassic b/b, if you are on a budget get the superstar custom, for all around playing the pearl master mcx is best.
Hi and thanks man! I have EC2 only on my Toms. I love them because tune is very easy and sound is very controled. It's a pleasure to play them. On Bass Tom, it's terrific! BAAAAOOOUUUMMMMM! like storm
T tried genera dry on my new snare Premier (Brass) and its souds fantastic. The genera HD dry is for you if you like very dry sound or if you want to play with high tension on a very powerfull snare I think.
About EC2, they are not too hard for me. I think they are very versatile, you can play them with high or low tension without problems! It's a sound very controlled.
Go buy a metronome, listen to some Purdie...

toms need to be tighter man....sounds sloppy in my opinion. snare's res head seems a bit tight too.
And your fills need a bit of work. You're a good drummer, but I think you should work on making your fills fit the beat/groove more.

Hello,
3 weeks ago I bought my new snarehead.
After testing a few snaredrums I was really impressed by the Evans Genera HD (not dry).
I liked it a little bit more than the evans genera dry.
Bud I can tell you, on my maple snaredrum the evans genera hd sounds great!
Beautiful overtones en a nice attack.
I'm really happy about my choice, because I think that I chosed the best head for me.
Because for rock drumming sounds it great.
On my toms I use Remo Powerstroke 4 and bass powerstroke 3.

Your drumkit sounds nice!
At this moment I'm looking for a evans head for my snaredrum.
I think that I go for the 14 inch evans genera dry.
I've heard that the evans genera dry head sounds great.
You have the evans genera HD on your kit.
What's the difference between the evans genera dry head and the evans genera hd(the sound)?
Comment please!
Tristandrums94 3 years ago
Hi, sorry for waiting...
T tried genera dry on my new snare Premier (Brass) and its souds fantastic. The genera HD dry is for you if you like very dry sound or if you want to play with high tension on a very powerfull snare I think.
I chose HD dry in the past for his durability.

Superstar are very durable. even pro's play them as if they were the starclassic series. They can even sound practicaally the same if tuned right
