Now I'm older, I've realized that I've become one! and the reason why I dare to be different is because I can't be bothered to care what others think anymore. I agree with this video, we do tend to be easier to approach, I love it, I love getting approached by a random female who starts out by complimenting my attire then exchanging numbers. Yes "goths" do sometimes seem to be more romantic but then there are others who just dress up on weekends and can't stay in a commited relationship. We might dress differently we are all still people who have different needs.

No, actually. I was pretty into the scene. I'm a fan of Marilyn Manson's 'Antichrist Superstar' so it was suggested to me, and the title interested me. Goth culture is ridiculous. How can you spend your life speaking with the same people, who all dress the same, listen to the same music and watch the same movies. Every time you meet someone new in the scene, they are exactly the same as the previous. Not only that, but I've found that most goths are incredibly narrow minded.

The video was inspiring to me. I've lived in a small town so we don't have a lot of goths. Though the movie was right about the sad truth. There really aren't a whole lot of goth guys out there which makes it hard for us single girls. But the movie was encouraging to keep looking.

@BOLSHEVIXTREME If you want a goth girlfriend, a good place to start would be when you see a goth woman you fancy, just walk up to her, and compliment her hair, or outifit, or simply say, "I think you are beautiful." Chances are she'll appreciate it ! We goth women put a lot of hard work into our appearence and I know I love it when people, especially men, take notice! =)

I'm 35 and I got pulled completely away from the goth scene by family who needed my help, a few years ago, but I can't wait to reclaim my life.
However, it has given me some real perspective and I am looking forward to returning to goth, but this time more informed, more deliberately, more calculatedly.
My look will be very, very different than it was years ago. No more Romantigoth, no more Pinup or Burlesque influence, not this time. It won't be Steampunk or Cybergoth or EGL.
I love gothic style clothing... It's so classy and romantic, and just interesting. It's refreshing to see a person dressed as a goth (or be that person) in a sea of clothing clones.

I myself shop at the thrift store and I might say they have way better clothing then stores sells and for cheap.. And there's the old make it yourself option..... You don't have to spend a fortune to look wonderful.... Just be creative...(^_^)

@MultiRedumbrella I'm not certain what you mean by "tacky clothing", Gothic clothing is anything but "tacky" but goths have lazy days where we wear jeans and a t-shirt, but if you're someone not interested in the gothic lifestyle/mentality but interested in the architecture and literature then you aren't really goth, just that those are some interests of yours.

Alright, I grew up with skinhead, punk, metal and goth. I'm a black skinhead who knows the history here in the United States. My good friends are goth and even though we argue, they are my dedicated friends. Yeah, I have my skin, punk, goth and metal friends who are still alive and have kept themselves alive and we get together and stick together,still going strong.

cyber goth, boyfriend of a number of years is Steam-punk, bit of an eclectic mixture, but it keeps things interesting <3 Every *normal* guy who I have ever dated or been approached by has been disappointing in one way or another. No matter their personal flaws, as a whole I have been happier and more successful when I have dated within my scene ^^

When I was 19-22 (Now 23) I used to wear a long black stitched up trench coat, dyed my hair black, got piercings, easily got the white skin (Part Irish) and honestly had a lot of fun with the attention. Yeah, I was kinda weird.. walked around at night by myself. I'm pretty sure my mom that I was a vampire at one point, haha.

I'm 35 and I got pulled completely away from the goth scene by family who needed my help, a few years ago, but I can't wait to reclaim my life.
However, it has given me some real perspective and I am looking forward to returning to goth, but this time more informed, more deliberately, more calculatedly.
My look will be very, very different than it was years ago. No more Romantigoth, no more Pinup or Burlesque influence, not this time. It won't be Steampunk or Cybergoth or EGL.
It'll be new.

I love gothic style clothing... It's so classy and romantic, and just interesting. It's refreshing to see a person dressed as a goth (or be that person) in a sea of clothing clones.

I am a Gothic male and am in touch with my female side so to speak, and do walk about town looking like a socially unacceptable zombie kinda person, and I relate to the people in this short Gothic film. I also believe in everything that's said other than the nasty names we are called in the beginning, like if you agree that Goth's should be more accepted into the social world than they are at the minuet

Why so people think you must have alot of money to dress wonderful or afford this style as you may call..... I myself shop at the thrift store and I might say they have way better clothing then stores sells and for cheap.. And there's the old make it yourself option..... You don't have to spend a fortune to look wonderful.... Just be creative...(^_^)

@MultiRedumbrella I'm not certain what you mean by "tacky clothing", Gothic clothing is anything but "tacky" but goths have lazy days where we wear jeans and a t-shirt, but if you're someone not interested in the gothic lifestyle/mentality but interested in the architecture and literature then you aren't really goth, just that those are some interests of yours.

@xxHeadbanginRockerxx i just find it annoying when people decided to label themselves goth/emo/prep because the way they dress and claim to be something just cause they think how they live their life is so unique till they have to classify it under a fashion label and when i mean fashion I don't just mean clothes taste in music as well and the way someone to choose to live their life something that someone can change when they want . Its seems like goth a species classification.

I think I know what is the matter with people why they hate us Goths I could be wrong but it's just my opinion there's many reasons why people have all these stupid misconceptions about Goths they were either brought upon that Goths are bad examples to others I'm sure you all know what I mean. this is so true XD i love my goth bf and i am not goth but i am a lolita and I couldn't be happier :) his mates are far bette than any of my ex's mates I don't feel left out or anything~~~! and corsets are amazing :) I relax a lot more with what I can wear im not afraid to wear what I like now :) and my taste for the music is insatiable love it~!

I am a Goth and I live in a state where you hardly see any Goths on the street. I am happy to be a Goth and be able to express myself in my clothing. I get starrs when I go out in public but it doesn't bother me at all! I am me and I am not changing for anybody! :D

I'm not goth, but I am male with long hair, and that alone gets bad looks from the conservative, clean cut crowd. So I like to shake it around when they look..
But to goths- more power to you! I agree with the comment below that distinguishes goth women's aura with bleached blonde women with fake boobs and fake everything. It seems goth females feel much more secure about themselves too, in contrast to those plastic women who sell out and bow down to misogynistic, clean cut neanderthal men.

Alright, I grew up with skinhead, punk, metal and goth. I'm a black skinhead who knows the history here in the United States. My good friends are goth and even though we argue, they are my dedicated friends. Yeah, I have my skin, punk, goth and metal friends who are still alive and have kept themselves alive and we get together and stick together,still going strong.

cyber goth, boyfriend of a number of years is Steam-punk, bit of an eclectic mixture, but it keeps things interesting <3 Every *normal* guy who I have ever dated or been approached by has been disappointing in one way or another. No matter their personal flaws, as a whole I have been happier and more successful when I have dated within my scene ^^

i wish my mom would watch this, but ik she won't. she's never understood me, everytime i wear my fave clothes & makeup & rock out to my fave music she tells me i look like a raccoon and then goes into this whole "r u worshipping the devil?" tirade. so most of the time i just use my headphones & dress down so i don't have too hear her lectures. in fact no one in my family really understands. but finding & watching videos like this reminds me that i'm not alone, so thanks 4 posting this video.

I know you must be upset about it just ignore your mum about the way you dress it might work then again it might not work. whenever my mum complains or say that I look weird being a Goth I ignore her and then it keeps her mouth shut. @Shadowsgift89 dont let your family put you down, I know how that is, just try to dress better slowly,I was there too, try having conversations with you mother about the goth subculture, but dont do anything to upset your parents, because they will get the wrong impression about us. my parents were like that to,because they listen to much about what other people say but now my mother is much more suportive.
ps: it took me almost 3 years to get my parents to understant why I dress the way I do :)

When I was 19-22 (Now 23) I used to wear a long black stitched up trench coat, dyed my hair black, got piercings, easily got the white skin (Part Irish) and honestly had a lot of fun with the attention. Yeah, I was kinda weird.. walked around at night by myself. I'm pretty sure my mom that I was a vampire at one point, haha.

Wow...they'r sweet together....its inspiring..Ima goth but I cant seem to find that will love me...wish I could find a girl also that is a goth..Sadly goth girls in our country are rare to find...some are just posers they dont know what goth really is..they just see it in the dress but dont even like goth music...
But its still ok if it will be a non goth...as long as love is there!!:)
