  • Hi there,

is there not an issue with the plane blade cutting into the edge of the runway side?

about to build one of these but cant get my head around that bit

  • @nickjohnwarner The plane rides on the stock being joined - the edge of the platform is not a stop - it just holds the work.

  • do you end of cutting into the shooting board with the planer?

Do you have advice your using a shooting board to taper a strip of wood?

  • Built your shooting board the other day really works great, good design.

    Thanks

  • @jknow1565 Great! Hope it works well for you!

  • Hi there, i currently use a regular shooting (without a ramp) can you tell me what purpose the ramp serves?

    Thanks, Paul

  • @biggestclaptonfan

the ramp insures that you are using the most of your planeblade - not just one part of the planeblade. If you use a MDF sheet (or any other flat surface), then you would use the same point on the planeblade every time.... Hope you can see it :-)

  • Thanks for this Video, Todd ! I built your board yesterday and it works beautiful !

    Cheers, Martin

  • Great to hear - hope it continues to work well for you.

  • Looks like I'll be modifying my board with a ramp. Thanks for the video.
