  • A shame that the very last of the Celts are in danger in all the places they still inhabit: Brittany, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. More needs to be done before a whole branch of Indo-European dies out.

  • get rid of the UK...and instead bring back the 'council of the isles' with each nation including cornwall being culturally and economically independent but for all britiain and ireland......no more english domination.....mutual respect for all cultures here :)

  • Whats it going to take? :(

  • longbow you prick ,1415does that refer to the battle of agincourt?,25 oct if I remember rightly. Welsh archers using a Welsh weapon won a great victory for henry the fifth who was born in Wales.Try googleing Hyddgen and find out how many dead englishmen there were after the battle. Loads...LOL As a welshman sounds very good to me,HA,HA

  • You right there. We need to get Gethin on the case!

    :=)

    Cymru am byth.

  • @sionimaesyrhandir this is true we invented the longbow :) and were its masters, alot of owain glyndwrs army was in henry v 's army the soldiers that had almost wiped england off the face of the earth won at agincourt

  • pleidio wyf im gwlad :)

  • "The last inhabited land mass of Europe was Britain"

Actually it was Iceland, but never mind...

  • Well it sounds like we all agree. Welsh is older than english. Nobody is better than anybody else and it's most likely we will all be speaking Chinese in the next 500 years. But we did kick your ass in the rubgy! lol

  • (Yn cefeirio at -landsker- yma ac isod.)

Saxon? the English are as much Scandinavian and French

  • Ah, indeed, but I was referring to the language and not the people, to the fact that both the Saxon tongue, and the Celtic tongue were imported from central Europe.

The Welsh language comes from Europe, not "Wales", and originates from within the proto-indian branch of languages.

  • Slight edition, I should have said, "..to the language, as well as the people." Does it really matter? Surely a civilisation is judged by the manner, not the language in which it transacts the institutions of life?

  • The point is- it's not about past reps (even though I might have said some things to the contrary) it's about a global heritage of cultures and languages that enriches the human race. When you come from your perspective- English does not have such an ancient history and culture that the last remenants of a celtic language (from EUROPE!) that has been preserved in wales has (in the form of welsh)

Due to the imperialistic nature of the English speaking population, Welsh is under threat.

  • Siontegz. I am english speaking, so are you. Therefore we are part of the english-speaking population. I am not imperialistic, are you? It would seem that in your opinion, Welsh is an older language than English, and somehow, has MORE culture.

That is unmitigated balderdash, poppycock and blather. One day, long after you and I are no more than aashes and dust, there will probably be only one language in the world, and that will be English. So what?

  • Yes I do speak English- but as a product of English colonialism and past imperialistic dominance. Welsh is my first language however.

"there will probably be only one language in the world, and that will be English"- isn't that a globalised imperialistic view?

of course welsh is older, it's historic fact and it's ancient culture is therefore greater. I do not refer to the present cultural climate, of which english has a monopoly, but to folk history and heritage.

  • What makes you say that, given that people will have said it about Latin, French, Spanish, and possibly others, before they started saying it about English?

  • You claim thay you're not imperialistic however i am yet to meet an englishman who isnt. Do you think that there are to poles in england? Well compare the number of poles in england (which you make a big fuss about) with the number of english people in Wales and you'll see the problem we have.

  • "It would seem that in your opinion, Welsh is an older language than English, and somehow, has MORE culture."

How are you possibly acting under the assumption that the english language is older than the Welsh langauge? The Welsh language has been in existence along with other dialects of celtic for more than 5000 years! If I remember correctly england was only formed less than a 1000 years ago, on that unfortunate day. So how is english older?

  • this is true but irrelevant-

of course it came from europe! so did humans! The last inhabited land mass of Europe was Britain and the flow of ideas, languages and cultures have moved westwards over thousands of years and ever since.

  • It is as much your responsibility as it is mine! it is your heritage too

  • Not true as the Celtic people moved westwards into Europe and brought Celtic languages with them which largely influenced all other European languages - except for english which wasn;t directly affected due to it's inexistence.

  • Feel free to analise yourselves, but don't try and tell me where I come from ,you would be the first to cry,if I were to use racial stereotyping against you.

  • History is there to be scrutinised,

    Facts you cannot deny

  • Well that's just stupid! Welsh is the most spoken Celtic language and Irish follows it. I'm Irish and proud of my language also! Éireann go brách (or Éire go deo!) us Celts should unite!!! lol :D

  • As the celtic union/keltoi tree. Lol.

    >.>

    Cymru am byth.

  • Be'r ffwcia ydy'r fideo'ma am?????

Yes, Wales does have it's own language and it's just as valid as any other!

  • Sadly it is because of narrow minded xenophobes like this that I was never granted the opportunity to learn my own language... I am Welsh and damn proud of it!! Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad... Cymru am byth

  • ble caeth hwn ei ffilmio?

  • After this video i'm joining Cymuned as all Welsh should do....

  • I'm dead Welsh, butty!

  • hows about worrying about somethin that has nethin 2 do with you!

Wales has its own language and we're dam proud of it! how about worryin about the state of ur own country since its packed full of teenage mums, chavs & thiefs?!

Dwi'n Falch i bod yn Cymraeg! Cymru am Byth!!!

  • Jisis cris mun, everyone knows the Celts were/are a tribe from Southern Europe, whereas the Saxons are/were from Northern Europe. All about the North and South.

  • mae'n i'w weld for rhywun yn genfigennus, yndoes?

    =)

  • hahahahaha, if you're splitting hairs- The highest concentration of Welsh DNA originates from the the last ice age- from the neolithic hunter gatherers....indeed theis language was lost but to celts, who indeed colonated southern Europe as well as northern Europe at that time- The celtic language was the language of the majority of the European continent's peoples. The English language did not exist at this time and didn't appear untill the eleventh century!!

  • heres hoping the welsh language will die!!! yep....dead welsh! LOL

  • And with the influx of asylum seekers to england here's back at you!

  • go get fucked you limey cunt

  • you're a funny little racist are you. are you off to attack some people because they're a different colour to you? If the English did destroy Welsh, that would be something else for the English to be proud of, along with their empire and slave trade.

    Annibyniaeth.

  • well as it goes the english are doing a good job of it!

  • hehe

  • Dw'in ddim yn hoffi union jack :P

  • Course it does! Care not about the Welsh language or any other for that matter. Don't struggle to speak Gaeilge in Gaeltacht or Brezhoneg in Breizh. Just frog hop from one English pub and colony on the Costas to another. After the entire whole world knows about England, the Queen, football, fish and chips, the Union Jack! What the hell does it matter if all these languages die? We can all just speak English and wear Union Jack pants! My God...The thought of it!

  • Dead Welsh, as an Englishman sounds good to me!

  • Da iawn hogia, daliwch ati!

  • Hir Oes Cymuned!

  • Cefnogwch y cymuned

  • @cymuned Do, ond gyda chamsillafiadau neu hebddynt, mae'n gwestiwn da. Mae nifer o'ch fideos yn ardderchog; nid un o'r rhain yw hyn.

  • A scary thought!!!!
