i recently got some absinthe (a so-so brand "Absente" which now contains the correct variety of wormwood) at a local liquor store and when i got to the counter, asked if they ever carried any other brands. i could not BELIEVE how misinformed the guy working there was. first, he tells me "that's not real absinthe, that's why it's called 'absente'. real absinthe is illegal in this state." knowing this to be bullshit (i do my research), i decided to politely call him on it and said (cont. above)

I like Gary Vaynerchuk, i agree that he is an aqured taste, but its super good to have someone with a passion. As he has said on his lecture (type his name into the search bar for that lecture), as if you dont like something stop doing it. Have an active interest, and besides, i know very little about absinthe, and he was asking questions that i would ask.

and it shows through and through, on his eps on beer, cider, even cheese tasting. he really is great.

i'm glad to have this video to refer to, but the host of this program would do very well to alter some of his tendencies. Most notably, it seems as though the host (Gary) is far too interested in what his own opinions are, and having those opinions and observations heard, rather than being interested in what the other parties involved in the videos opinions are. Gary would do well to talk a lot less, and listen a lot more.

Heeding the aforementioned advice will improve these videos a lot.

The thujonne content, which is the ingredient that causes the hallucinogenic effects and pretty much why absinthe is famous is hardly mentioned, They dont even mention how much thujonne each brand has if any. If you are considering buying absinthe first find out how much thujonne is in it. Absinthe without thujonne is like marijuana without THC, Would anyone smoke it? No i doubt it.

@mercmarc he said 10ppm is the legal limit in the states, so now you know what the max is and you can experiment.. you may have also noticed him saying that it doesn't 'drive you crazy' which i assume is reffering to hallucinations. In my experience, it does not cause hallucinations but it can get you very drunk. It's a "drink at your own risk" type of thing.

Secondly... they U.S. didn't legalize it they just never got around to outlawing it, because it's hallucinogenic properties were only discovered in the 60's.

Salvinorin A is NOT man made. It's naturally occurring in salvia divinorum. Its use must be supervised (especially for newbs) because the effect can cause one to walk or in other ways move to a somewhat random location. Sadly the govt. is bound to outlaw it, so try it responsibly while you can.

Actually it is decriminalized, which is quite different from legalized. i am currently living in wa and i happen to know that you will still be charged with a fine or even a short jail time for possession of pot. It is just not a criminal offence which means people aren't spending years in prison for smoking such a harmless drug.

This is only 2 states out of 50, so essentially you can call weed illegal in the states.
