I must be missing something fundamental, but i can NEVER make vintage drum machines (other than, say, really bassy ones like the 808) really kick like this. I always have to double up kicks with lowpassed 909 kicks. Listening to something like this makes me feel completely useless. Argh. Respect.

Try using a Roland R-8m. i can get sounds like that pretty easy. minus the rhythmic synth bleeps. Also a good compressor doesnt hurt either. if your using a pc that might be your whole problem.
