I found it easier to learn this in a reverse 3bt weave, instead of coming out when you switch sides, keep the iso on the inside of your arms. Took me like, a month to get it right. Im still to afraid to do it lit up. -.-;

From what ive learned (coming from a town with a rich maori culture) poi was used by maori warriors to help strengthen their wrists so that they could better use a weapon known as a patu. Now-a-days it is shown off in kapahaka, etc...

But since Hawaii and New Zealand are both Pacific islands it is quite possible that the art found its way to Hawaii very early.

This is one of the best poi'ers in the world... And it is not an American activity, it's originally practiced in New Zealand (by the Maori people), Thailand, in Polynesia and Bulgaria. I don't think you fully understand the nature of poi, that it is fun and exciting, good for children and adults for hand-eye coordination...
