  • Awesome video!

  • if eddie bravo read that, he would be wondering.. train no-gi once week and every day with the gi to become good in no gi.. i like the gi, its much slower and gives me time to think what the next technique is..

  • If fabio gurgel tells you the fights over when marcelo gets your back... id prolly beleieve em.

  • if youre defending youre losing???

  • @brasileiro135 In the sense that he will eventually make you make a mistake by constantly attacking you and putting you on the defensive. If you have ever watched Marcelo in action you'd quickly see that he has an all out attack mentality, in a controlled and calculated manner of course. He puts pressure on you and forces to make a mistake. If you're just defending, you're obviously not attacking him, you pose no threat.

  • @brasileiro135 Well, you're definitely not winning

  • @papasteve07 well i can tell you either havent trained long enough, havent grasped the true concept of jiu jitsu or are purely on a sport based jiu jitsu.

  • @brasileiro135 losing time to attack.

  • @brasileiro135

If youre defending, youre defending. If youre attacking, youre attacking. Neither mean youre winning or losing.

Only at the VERY end of the fight will you know if you won or lost.

  • Brazilian jiu jitsu best fighting system ever.

  • Anyone know the name of the song?

  • This guy was so handsome .. haa haa

  • letting people escape to get the back or the neck? I love that!

  • got a deep voice for such a little guy, must have big balls

  • very smooth jiu jitsu

  • @GASmotorsports Just like the music

  • @Elmartschi76 you should try jiu jitsu. since you already know what gay sex is like you should at least try jiu jitsu and compare them. i'm sure you will find yourself taking a nap instead of sucking penis like you're used to doing.

  • @Elmartschi76 Come on now honey there's no reason to be catty.

  • Yea. I know, and understand that... but I think they would be just as good if they never trained with the gi. They are good because of their skill. I don't see the gi giving any real help for balance and leverage. it's just a formality. I see MMA pro's giving thanks to God a lot too.. but I don't think that has anything to do with it any more than the gi. just my thoughts and observation. Personally I do not enjoy using gi. It's not as fun. A bathrobe looks silly to me, but it's all good

  • @redblue18700

The Gi isn`t really for balance and leverage.

It slows the game down, develops technique more, while the No Gi aspect speeds the game up,and makes you combine strenght and speed with your technique. Both are very important. And i enjoy the Gi alot more when sparring, its very fun to me.It feels like a game,a game of human chess you might say :))

  • @znjfl damn , that was perfectly said. it should be in a book somewhere

  • @Brynny211 Hehe,thank you :)

  • @znjfl so much respect on this comment, you hit this spot on, this is the argument I use everytime someone says the gi is useless, bjj comes from the gi, and the technique comes from the gi, the most technical guys in the world train in the gi.

  • @carlsongracieteam ,And training with GI ,is more FUN,than without!

With GI,there is more leverage ;Without GI,muscle and speed come to play, but a good BJJ,can overcome that!

  • @redblue18700 if youre not comfortable with a gi, you'll never be good without it

  • So many purple belts!

  • I love Marcelo, especially his NO GI DVD.

But why does the GI matter for NOGI? I never get a "reason" only a "belief"

I think even the best BJJ do the GI as a matter of tradition and dogma when deep down they know it's a totally different sport than NOGI.

  • @redblue18700 its a totally different sport, but it has nothing to do with tradition. Pancration or Submission Wrestling has been around for 2000 years. Arguably longer than gi based combat. Training with the gi is essential in order to develop a highly attuned sense of leverage and balance. If you don't think so....try grappling an experienced player

  • @redblue18700 look at all the past ADCC'S, which is considered by most to be the pinnacle of no-gi competition. Most of the champions train in the gi a lot more than they don't, a tradition an dogma is one thing, but you cant argue facts brother!

  • Brazilian Jiujitsu was my first true love in life

  • @mpcc2022 how long have you been training? I'm assuming your a blue or purple belt?

  • 1.5 Years maybe a little longer closer to 2 and I'm a purple belt

  • @mpcc2022 ....wow thats impressive i have been training for 1 year under carlson gracie jr and i am still a white belt...the quickest i have ever seen someone get their blue belts is 3 years.

  • @prophesy18 yeah it goes against a lot of the traditional mindset my ability to survive as a white belt and escape and understand that it's not about force but leverage really set me a part blue belt and black belt are usually where you spend the most time but even now I admit I felt I received rank to early and study under some one new athleticism and talent shouldn't mean a promotion nor a knack for the art and that's what I feel happened

  • @mpcc2022 o well that cool....everyone has there own way at looking at things.. me personally i would like to appluade you on your accomplishment.. I am 16 and my teacher said i cannot receive my blue belt until im 18. But i figure its worth while because i love jiu jitsu and not reliant on belt colors because i am better than some blue belt i roll with.

  • @prophesy18 I feel the same way your master feels the more I understand BJJ and study it and I'm going to start training with Saulo Riberio and start again under him I'm better than a lot of purple belts but I feel my game lacks certain things I struggle against long guys and feel that's technique thank you my friend for the praise I'm just very critical of myself

  • @prophesy18

Wonder why your instructor wont follow tradition and and at least promote you to blue? IBJJ rules say you have to be 16 to be blue. and 19 for black. I know of some guys that as soon as they turn 18 they got promoted to brown.

  • marcelo is amazing...

  • Dude This makes me want to train right now haha Marcelo is the man, It's awesome to here him talk about his game!

  • Can't wait to train with him again in December at Memphis BJJ!
