Thanks for the video, i was able to open it as you did. now, how do you put the spring clip thing back in? I have kegman but I cannot get it to go in.
@chrismcnally1234 You're probably doing it right. It's not easy. I prefer to replace the spring retainers with 2-1/8" retaining rings (the ones with "ears" that require a set of specialized pliers for installation and removal).
Hello, thank you very much for teaching us how to open a barrel of beer, I'm home brewer and I need to keep my beer in a keg, I can do this procedure? does not affect my beer?
They also make a valve removal tool I think it is kind of a waste of money, however the "knife" that they sell to remove the spring clip is pretty a very usefull tool.
I de-pressure my kegs by using a keg coupler that does not have any hoses attached to it. this way you do not damage the seal between the ball and seat.
So I want this brewery in town to fill my empty keg, but they said they'll only do if it's clean. It has some really nasty old beer it. So if I do this I can clean the inside of it with like boiling water or something, but will I be able to put it back together so they can fill it with beer? Do you wanna make a video on reassembly?
You must replace the spring it is what keeps the valve pressed in to the "o" ring, thus keeping the pressure in the keg. Without it you will not be able to keep pressure in the keg.
Hey do you know how to take a part a g system keg

YOU Theif! Stealing kegs is a crime you moron! Yous guys are the cause of price increases!

@tslicker1990 This keg was legally acquired, not stolen. I completely agree that simply renting a keg and forfeiting the deposit is blatant theft.

why would you like to open it?

@Mentran
You can use it to put your home brew in so you can have it on tap, or like he said in the video a container to brew your beer in.

if you use a metres spanner and hook one tang under the barbs ether side you can leaver the hip of the spanner onto the valve easy

is that spring important? or can u tap it without it?
tonyR88 3 years ago
you will need the spring if you want to use the same type of ball valve.. so yes its important lol

@tonyR88 it's very important. that keg has to hold the pressure of the carbonated beer. that spring will hold in the ball valve.

wow! helpful. Now that I know how easy these are to disassemble I'm going to start kegging to them. So much more sanitary than cornelius kegs.

awesome, very helpful. now I won't look like a barbarian trying to yank that ball valve out. thanks!
