This song is beautiful. It must be about a couple that are in love. He has had bad lovers before, and she is taking everything for granted. When they say "Tidal wave, tidal wave, come crashing over me." They probably mean he wants the emotions to wash over him. When they say "You get a warning sign to keep his distance" It means her father does not approve of him, but he still slips away to see her. It shows you shouldn't take you life for granted.
