  • people knowing people - my dad was a fan of Emmet and bought a trumpet from him in the 1940s - that trumpet is still in use today (my brother-in-law plays it now). My niece and my son learned trumpet on it (my son now does jazz violin).

I hadn't thought about Emmet Berry in 40 years - then I see and hear these recordings and immediately recognize the playing style from hearing him in my childhood. A big thanks out to folks who post these great recordings.

  • I LIKE THIS BAND with emmett & charles and my dad, earle warren ...

Your dad was Earle Warren? Cool! I was good friends with & played drums for Preston Love. Preston replaced your dad with Basie in 1945. Preston absolutely idolized Earle and to the end of life sang his praises to the mountain tops.

  • Somebody once said, that a sax player should express something with every note. Warren is exactly doing this !

  • Fantastic! ♫♫♫♫♫

  • I enjoyed this. Any more of these guys?

  • A very under rated trumpet player along with Earle Warren on alto.
