  • In January of 1977 I saw this operette on television for the first time, shortly after reading a book about classical music. I fell in love with opera and Strauss Waltzes that night. Thanks to a little "bat"... :)

  • sehr schön

  • Oh dear, why is it so slow???

  • @cloudy0317 u int xizobb tifhem

  • Thank God for sucha song, combined with such a voice.

  • como se llama la soprano?

  • she s perfect! i love her =)

  • This song is known popularly as "The Laughing Song."

  • Wonderful interp.

  • I'm playing this with an orchestra

  • Ùnglãublich_lÈùtE_sÚcht_mÄl_ñàch:_olikohle_Áüf_gÕÕglÉ_vøll_gËÎl

  • A wonderful communicator… to think so many spend their entire career without even making an effort to share and plan for their future in music :).

  • i think its a little too spaced out in phraces but otherwise its really good

  • This song is hard to sing! My vocal coach is picking on me with this one! Its amazing and beautiful but omg its a hard one!

  • @musicalluver101 likewise! It is truly lovely though :o) Marvelous lyric coloratura piece.

  • She sings things so amazing!!!!

  • i love her actual laughs in this song!

  • @minieinstein319 really? you think so? because she's not.

  • @minieinstein319 underenergized and strained at the top? yes. out of tune? no. she got it up there eventually. but i think that if we only comment negatively without offering anything nice or constructive to say, then there's really no point in commenting, is there?

  • wonderful voice, good actress, but not always on pitch and german isn't that good

  • sorry, but I speak german and I can't understand one word of what she's singing.

    that's a bit anoying.

I mean I know it's opera but still...

    however she sounds nice.

  • @lisilein2 One should be able to understand opera if it's sung right. Luckily I don't speak German anyway :P

  • Amazing voice control

  • I agree with dermotafan. Far too slow for a Viennese waltz.

  • Isnt she lovable! I always feel happy when I listen to this.

  • Copy that, , ullaforsman.

  • Such a troublesome maid

  • I love her laugh!

  • oh.. i really really love..watching operas... gotta love this song..amazingly fantastic..

  • @eLmZ191 Operetta :)

  • All you try hear in this operetta to Kathleen Battle, she is great.

  • thats my favourite from this operetta.

I'm proud to be german our operas are simply the best (:

  • that they are

  • but like most famous operettas it's NOT german BUT AUSTRIAN! liebe grüsse aus österreich :)

  • shes very good overall, but her voice is a bit hard on my ears.

  • she goes sharp and gusty in many places... second or third cast, at best - the best is lucia popp

  • mortal vos poderosa buena

  • Very rare and wonderful "singerin". In 2 ' 32 she is even capable of making a small laughter, by singing, when she sees the kiss on the prince's head.

She sings in her mother tongue, with a remarkable diction and with the biggest classic style Viennese as we find it hardly.

  • Amazing.

  • Nice voice but she's not a chamber maid.

Each chamber maid in operas is woman and consequently can be a Lady as intelligent as the mistresses. Here is what she lightly make understand to the Marquis with a little bit of jeer.

A sort of low peoples revolution, like Figaro

  • You're right. But I can´t abstract from the fact that she must have paid dearly for her dental work.

  • :O the costumes are so lush

  • One of the best...

  • The part where he kissed the prince's head was not part of the script right? Right about 2:29, Einstein kisses the prince's head. Take a look for yourself.

  • I thought it was pretty damn good. It's no easy feat to sing that D.

  • All people not perfect, and Hildegard Heichele is fantastic actress, singer, and negative comment , no good, because she sing in Convent Garden of corse the people in teathe like and pricipalment the director Placido Domingo too. They sing in a good teather ? with a good singers? ok.

  • is just me, or is she not really singing the right notes a lot of the time? this is kind of ishy vocally.... nice tone, I guess, but awful pitch. and what the crap is with the botched D at the end? I usually don't leave scathing comments like this, but holy man....

  • i think the same thing. i've noticed it in the first part. and i'm not a specialist. maybe i'm wrong.

  • Just because she didn't hold it very long doesn't mean that she didn't have good pitch. For example 1:20 her pitch is fantastic! As for the laughs, it's called the laughing song for a reason. She's acting!!!

This is a great version :D

  • I borrowed this production from the library but it cut out right before the last act-it was tragic.

  • beautiful voice, beautiful actress but... does her hight D not to hight??

(This is a question, not statement!)

  • it's around the high d--never really on it for too long.

  • BRAVISSIMA!

  • magnifico!!!

  • its playing in Wien Volksoper. Saw it yesterday. I prefered the tempos there. Check it out !!! nice to find a correct version of this wonderfull song on youtubge.

  • I loved this production - checked it out from the library..

so wonderful, and they had special guests/ ballet in the middle. the ballet to spring waltz or somesuch - was superb.

  • Very good singing and acting. Brava!

  • Cute!

  • The final note was a touch shrill, but overall very fetching. I love her risata (or however the expression translates in German). A frothy confection, thanks for posting.

  • very nice.

  • Exelente me encató XD

    :p

  • Watch Krisztina Dávid if you want to see and hear real beauty

  • Take a look at mine! I'm not quite in this league, well soon...? I really think this is great.. obviously I have a lot more work to do, but not having had to spend a lot of time on it..

  • l-o-l

  • I like Kiri te Kanawa's version better

  • I agree with you so fucking much

  • It is the most beautiful version which I listen.

  • Sreach for "Metropolitan Young Opera Artist- Erin" she sings this much better than this lady.

  • Actually you're right!, that girl is awesome

  • Your right, she is amazing:)

  • I third it!

  • I know! Thanks for checking her singing out:)

  • Don't understand the thumbs down for you. Erin Morley is totally wonderful with this piece.

  • This is one Operetta in which I think Prey is the best.
