  • @yellowcup87 I TOTALLY agree with you u can't get any better than the originals and it's not like their 60 or something U CAN'T GET BETTER THAN IDINA AND KRISTEN and the guy who plays Fiyero(I forgot his name) :)

  • @MannequinManiac i make some of my movies with WMM , but i understand your point, flixlab & or imove are better

  • 1 Popular, 1... green (awkward) :/

  • The irony.......

  • @myfaceisaverage i agree

  • @141BroadwayBound141 It's should have a comma after it nonetheless, and it's not slang; it's onomatopoeia.

  • @141BroadwayBound141 "Heehee" you used incorrect grammar whilst trying to correct someone else's grammar. How ironic.

  • @141BroadwayBound141 No, it's not spelt wrong. Maybe because I am an Australian, because 'spelt' is a word that can be used to replace spelled in the certain manner.

  • coming spelt wrong

  • Too bad Idina and Kristen won't ever work on a project together again. So them being in a wicked movie together is slim to none.

  • You're kidding me?

  • ........................crap

  • this sucks! please dont make this if your not good at editing

  • oooh so they're actually going to make the movie?? how exciting!!

  • so many people have said it's coming out in 2010, others in 2011-2012. which one?!

I would LOVE to see it as a movie. especially seeing as I am far to broke to buy a ticket to see it in a theater.

  • Does no one remember that Idina was IN Rent??? she has acting experience too.

  • Read the book LUVED IT! Heard the Soundtrack REALLY LUVED IT! Saw the play EFFING LUVED IT! The Movie???? There are not words to described it. Maybe we should start a facebook campaign? (It Worked for Betty White!)

  • If you're going to claim to have a movie trailer for something, and it's actually homemade, you should probably spell check it.

  • this got nothing to do with the film. its all from stage.

  • OMG! this song is from Repo! the Genetic Opera!! i just finished watching that movie for the gazzillionth time

  • @iluvurobertpattinson sorry i was watching the wrong video

  • ...¬¬...

  • first of all! I'm so excited about this! I wanted to see Wicked! on Broadway! with Kristin and Idina but my chance never came and soon they left and were replaced T-T. So this is a dream to me.

Second, the movie wouldn't be great at all if the Original wasn't cast. Wicked became what it is today because of the memorable acting of Idina and Kristin! It just wouldn't be Wicked without those two.

AH! I hope that they two are REALLY casted and I hope nothing changes! Excited!

  • Nice slideshow...

    I mean trailer...

    x.x

  • I heard that the entire original cast was going to return but Dee Roscioli left Broadway yesterday to take on the role of Elphaba. And no, there is no way the movie is coming out this year. It is humanly impossible to write, chorepgraph, film, edit, and produce a movie in less than seven months. It's just not going to happen, sorry.

  • best trailer ever..... NOT

  • Broadway is Different than Film. CLOSE UPS HELLO Kristin looked kinda old on Glee. They are just too old, I love them but it will be great for different people to be in the roles. I Know someone who was approached to be in the movie ensemble and apparantly they have cast a few roles:

    Elphaba: Alanis Morrisette

    Glinda: Reese Withersponn

    Nessa: Anne Hathaway

  • Just going to throw out there that in most movies they are made up to look the right age, and you would never know.

  • are they really making a movie and why not cast rachel from glee as Elphaba

  • idk, I heard Alanis Morisette

  • because no.

  • @beckys757 Because the Kristin and Idina are THE Glnda and Elphaba. No offense, but I hated Glee's version of Defying Gravity. It was horrible compared to the original.

  • @beckys757 Because she's nowhere near good enough to play elphie....sorry if your a glee fan, but I've been a wicked fan since it came out and the role of elphaba is serious business

  • @gabrieljlivingston Kristin and idina already signed in for the movie, but they don't believe that will come out soon! Their not old!! And i'll definetly watch if their in the cast, besides both of them hava already been in movies so they can do it for sure!! And Alanis Morrisette as elphaba and Anne Hathaway as nessa?!?Com'on!!!

Kristin and Idina BETTERRRRRR play Galinda and Elphaba.[2]

  • @gabrieljlivingston Can Anne Hathaway sing? I don't mean to be offensive but I've never really heard her sing...

  • @xxxNewDividexxx : She's okay. She can carry a tune....but, nothing extraordinary. You can judge for yourself if you watch "Ella Enchanted"... she sung "Somebody to Love".

  • @gabrieljlivingston Alanis Morisette is older than both of them

  • Idina and Kristin are fantastic in their roles they are fantastic together. they Are Elphaba and Galinda!!!! the second act has them same age as character in the origional wizard of oz film the those actors were both well over 40 besides idina doesn't look a day over 25!!!!

  • Kristin and Idina BETTERRRRRR play Galinda and Elphaba. I know it will never be as INCREDIBLE as the musical, but that would make it the best possible! Pshhh age. Too old? Naht.

  • I really don't understand why people are claiming that Iidna and Kristin are too old to reprise their roles.

Kristin played Glinda when she was in her late 30's for christ's sake and Idina was in her mid 30's when she played Elphaba. They were only in the musical like 4 years ago and the movie is expected to come out next year, they won't be TOO old just maybe slightly aged.

  • @yellowcup87 Because when you play a role on stage, a middle aged woman can play a young/teenaged girl. Keep in mind, they are young women when they attend Shiz. In a movie, they really might look too old. They could and should do it anyway, in my opinion, but in order to accurately portray it they should be in their twenties or so. But like I said, I think they should do it. They were original cast, it's their right unless they don't want it.

  • @yellowcup87 Agreed. And it's nothing makeup can't take care of. As if they need it.

  • @yellowcup87 exactly, and who cares if they are to old, make-up can do wonders. I would rather see Kristin and Idina play the roles than anyone else.

  • @yellowcup87 That's because they were on stage where you can't really see age.

Film amplifies it - they would probably be very obvious with their age on a big-screen.

  • @yellowcup87 i agree, but you have to keep in mind that age is a lot more noticable on screen than on stage

  • @yellowcup87 i agree with you

  • I think there should be a movie and this trailer was kind of good but I think it should look more official, you knwo what I mean?

  • ummmm this is the worst trailor ever its only figgen pics and made probobly with windows movie maker

  • I have not seen the musical, so I can't judge it, but in my opinion we should relax in this obsession to turn books into movies or into musicals just to earn money, because it is all about money after all. Nobody gives a damn about the magic books can give us, about how it is crushed when we try to make it something objective.

  • I don't get what everyone has got against the movie. It shouldn't ruin Wicked.

It's true that the magic won't be the same because it isn't reaching out to you, a movie screen is flat so you won't find it as exciting.

But Gregory Maguire the author of Wicked said himself that he is planning to get the movie in the works to increase it's popularity even more.

I know Hollywood has a retarded collection of fanbase actors but if they choose the right ones who are under credited it won't go wrong.

  • If they do this movie, I really want Megan Hilty to play G(a)linda...just because she's my favorite XD

  • Um...this isn't a trailer

  • I think if the original cast did it, it would be fantastic, however it would be very hard to capture the audience the way it does live.

  • Well it's rumored that Kristin and Idina would play Galinda and Elphaba and some people from the original cast to be in it :D

  • The original broadway cast is gonna be my pick! I know every thinks Kristin is too old but she did the musical only about 4 years ago.

  • I think Wicked would be better as a movie actually.

The Defying Gravity effect just looks so cheesey. You can easily tell that Elphaba is being held up by something and they should put in a sky to make it realistic instead of just lights shining on her. If they got released on DVD how silly would that look? When I saw it, there were clouds behind her and the emerlad city below her and THAT looked fantastically realistic.

I wish they did that far more often.

  • @boxachocolates7: Pretty sure the actress playing Elphaba is lifted up into the air using a hydraulic launch system...?

  • i would love the original broadway cast in this movie. like rent

  • yeah I think she should too but she thinks that she's getting too old :-(

  • well...i think that if they made a movie, i'd like to see Eden Espinosa or Teal WIcks as Elphaba and Megan Hilty as Galinda. Although Annaleigh is more commercial....hmmm. so many options. its such a fantastically amazing show i almost wonder if it will suck as a movie. stage shows dont always translate well.

  • For starters it's a musical, not a play and it's going to be a version of the musical. Secondly, you really need to look at book and musical as seperate entities.

  • Guessing by that response, you haven't read the book. Yes the play. Oh! EXCUSE ME! Musical! is awesome by all accounts, but the book is also awesome, so i'm hoping the movie will be the books kind of awesome, not the musicals (play) kind of awesome

  • ive read the book and seen the musical

  • Ya know what?On Animal Crossing I named my town 'Oz' and i read a sign and it said:

    KEEP OZ GREEN!

    OLO U

    weird!

  • where'd you get the karaoke music?

  • the pictures still have tags on them

  • If they were to make a movie of the musical, they would obviously have to get the orignal Elphaba and Galinda. (Idina and Kristen!)

  • yeah it wouldn't be Wicked without them, that was supposed to have a double meaning by the way.

  • you'd think that but knowing the studios they'll get some big movie stars who can't even sing and ruin the whole thing (see mamma mia the movie for further details)

  • it would be so amazing if theres a movie and if there are idina and kristin in it!!! CHENZEL <3

  • Please tell me you didn't write the tracks out on Sibelius/Finale?? Very f***in tacky :P

  • check out my commercail. then you'll see talent.

  • So when is Wicked the movie coming out? My friend said this fall or 2010's Fall. And if I came out in fall of 2008 I would have been first in lie to that movie in my theater.

  • I was hoping to see an official trailer, not a homemade one. Don't get me wrong, some of the homemade videos are great, but the title should not be misleading. I'm sure you disappoint a lot of people this way.

  • i agree

  • no offense but this kinda sucks, its true no other way to put it it sucks

  • This looks like a fake one it is just a slide show of pics and songs from wicked the musical because the movie might be based on the book and not be a musical like how Les Mes (something like that) was.

  • i love you cast selection! go idina! :)

  • Ok, i'm really confused is there a movie that iss coming out next year or not?? And if so then when? People are saying 2016 and others 2010 if could please let me know that would be great cause it is driving me crazy. I love Wicked it's amazing. Also I was reading some of your posts and really don't think that Adam should play Fiyero it would be kinda weird. If there making a movie I hope that they end up doing the orignal cast with Kristen and Idina. I really would like to see them make a movie

  • this is a boring fake trailer

  • I agree. And get Adam Lambert 4 Fiyero!!!!

  • nah i recon oliver thompsett is probaby one of if not the best fiyero

  • lambert should be fiyaro! he rox!

  • that would sell a lot of tickets

  • Oh yeah - I forgot to mention... isn't Idina pregnant? That *may* put a slight hitch in production. ;) Wait till the baby is born, she gets her shape back, and then see if they don't fast track a movie.

  • Logically, I'd say there's no way we'll see Wicked in 2010. This is a big production and expensive. The 2nd North American tour is out there... not to mention there's no cast or director. For it to be out in a year they should be well into filming by now.

However... consider that I think the fans will riot if Idina & Kristen aren't the leads. It's not like broadway - it'll all be pre-recorded. Even so, we need the ladies in voice. So they'll have to compromise - ASAP, but probably not 2010

  • imdb lies so much sometimes.

stephen sondheim himself said they wouldn't even start the production of the movie until the 10th anniversary of the show being on broadway. so sorry guys, but don't get your hopes up just yet. plus, kristen and idina are probably going to be a little old to play the roles for the movie.

  • Kerry said that over in broadway they were thinking of doing one in the next year.. It should have kerry and dianne pilkington in it :)

  • its on imdb! Rumored for 2010 with the original Glinda and Elphabie

  • MOVIE IS FAKE THIS VIDEO IS FAKE!!!

    no offence :)

  • The movie is coming out next summer!!!! It ISSSSSSSSS true!!!!

  • Not next summer. There will be a movie. Just not next summer. They haven't even started casting and have no director so do not expect any movie too soon.

  • fall 2008?? that's already past...

  • On IMDB it says next summer

  • i think choosing an elphaba would be the hardest thing don't you? because kerry and idina are both amazing like in different area's - i feel sorry for whoever has that job

    x

  • does this mean that both idina and kristin or in the movie i hope so cause it just wouldn't be the same without both of them and no one can compare to idina and kristin i would defanitly see the movie if both idina and kristin are in it.

  • i think the movie should be done like cats- where nothing its not all taken around to record stuff - its just the stage version being filmed :)

    x

  • Me too - definitly x

  • They should make edit Judy Garland into it. It WOULD make alot more sense. (It doesn't matter about copyright because about everyone in"The Wizard of Oz" in 1939 is dead.) Garland IS Dorothy. It just wouldn't make SENSE if Garland didn't be in it. It would just be stupid if they got another girl , because pretty much EVERYONE has seen "Wizard of Oz" and see another girl that is Dorothy.

  • Hey, umm, i was just wondering where you got just the instrumental recordings of the wicked songs? :)

  • You know. I was surprised to see there was a trailer for a movie that's not supposed to be out until late 2010, and hasn't even been in production yet.YOU SUCK whoever said this was the trailer!

  • I'm sorry, this is just NOT a trailer. It's just a slideshow of some pictures and some words

  • ohhhh i can't wait for the movie

i think aaron tveit should be fiyero because he was soooo amazing in the musical

  • It wouldn't work if it was Kristin with someone else.

It should either have both Kristin and Idina in it, or a different cast.

Why isn't Idina planning on doing the movie? She starred in the show why can't she just reprise her role again?

If the new Elphaba flops, then the movie will flop and who's at fault for that? Idina.

She just HAS to be in it! She can't ruin it like this!

Kerry Ellis could go for it but she and Kristin wouldn't have the chemistry.

    She's better with Dianne.

  • It's not fair to say "The original cast must always be in the movie" and I know I said Idina needs to be in it, but Kristin wants to be in it and if Idina isn't there, then who would match their friendship?

And Idina really liked doing Elphaba, so I don't see why she wouldn't want to go for the film.

  • She's Pregnant and pregnant elphaba doesn't work

  • Idina's pregnant at 38??

    Bit old.

Then they should definetely get Eden!

  • well i've heard that, my mom didn't get pregnant with my sister till she was 39. Have you ever though of Anne Hathaway? Besides Idina Kerry Ellis is my fav but Eden has a strong and beautiful voice

  • Why would Anne Hathaway make it into the movie??

I really think they should go for Eden. or Kerry.

And I think the movie's coming out in 2013not 2010 so Idina could come back but I don't know.

  • i hope so because i don't think anyone can play elphaba like idina menzel.

  • Kerry or Idina for Elphie!!!!

  • Idinia!!

  • Idina is 4months pregnant and in 5 months she wont be pregnant anymore...i am SO willing to wait until Idina is able to do the movie.

  • If Idina is not going to be in the movie, then I am seriously going to lose all respect to her.

If she ruins a big moment like this then she's not the true Elphaba.

  • Its just a rumor I heard from my Idina fanatic friend. The friend that says "I would have Idina's babies"... well my friend is a girl. -_- ^^;;

But I don't know. Its up to her...

Everyone thinks Michael Crawford should have been in the Phantom Movie, as well as Sarah Brightman, but that didn't work at all.

  • See, the movie's supposed to come out in 2010 apparently. Idina's pregnant. I'm pretty sure this is the musical and not the book, so a pregnant Elphaba doesn't work. They could use Katie Rose Clark and Carmen Cusak. They were fantastic when I saw them on tour.

I will say though...I still adore Idina whether she does the movie or not. <3

(P.S. Clifton Hall for Fiyero!!! <3)

  • I can't wait until the movie comes out!!! My mom says I'm too young to read the book but she said maybe when I'm 14 and my birthday is in 2 weeks so yea...

  • You're mom sensors your reading??? I can understand what you watch but come on!

  • Australain cast are the best/

  • This is NOT a trailer, its a waste of time. I was hoping it was an actual movie trailer, not some crap put together by a fan.

  • Shit. Waste of two minutes.

  • this is crap, us the pics from the broadway show, not in real life like that love 1 and those kristin and idina ones

  • WICKED IS THE GREATEST BROADWAY MUSICAL IN THE WORLD! i hope that they use the original cast for wicked and not some indina menzel and kristin chenowith wannabes. i hear that it is coming out in theaters on july 16, 2010. if it does, ill be soooooooo happy cuz thats my birthday!!!

  • no way. Idina and Kristen all the way!

  • they should do one with kerry and dianne for us english lot, they are the best!! x

  • I heard its suppose to be out in around 3 years from now. I can't for it ^^

  • It's 2010.

  • well sorry but I did say "I heard" from a friend.

  • I think it would be great if Idina and Kristen were in the movie, along with the rest of their original cast. Idina and Kristen have been in movies before! So it'd be nothing new.

  • I agree. It would be wierd seeing anyone else as the Elphaba. I really want Idina in the movie, when it comes out, I heard it comes out in 2011. :( That's a long time to wait. I dont know if I can wait for almost three years. Well, I really hope they cast Idina as Elphaba again. ^_^

  • since when?? I think for wicked we should be going for talent, not names

  • 2014???

    I cant wait... -.-

  • Winona Ryder should play Effie, imho.

  • if there was a charachter named Effie, sure. But there's not, so no.

  • there actuali is, its elphie, not effie...

  • it's actually predicted to come out in 2014. Gregory Maguire says in an interview.

  • On the IMBD website they actually have dates etc and say that at the moment it is in Post Production they have it listed as a musical and have it also listed for a July 2010 release with Universal being the ones who are making it and the guy who directed Wanted as the Directer so fingers crossed it might actually happen

  • It actually lists it as being in Pre Production - if it was in Post Production already we would have heard much more about it by now. Also, IMDB is not reliable and they have listed the date as 2010 under pure speculation and the fact that they have to put a date to list the movie on there.

Universal have said that they are going to take their time and that we may not see the Wicked Movie for a good few years.

  • hahaha

  • what absoloute shite!

  • You're all idiots. This is clearly fan made. They are in the process of making one, but this is NOT a trailer for it. It's not due to be out until like, 2010-2012. Besides, it's 2009 and no movie.

  • wow their actualy making the movie i can't wait for it

  • that was retarded.

  • Now, i see that you have the "cast" for the movie on here... M question is, how do you know that Idina and Kristen are going to be the one's doing it? they havent even come out with a true trailer or release date for the movie.. and i would have to agree with boffinme80, i dont think turning Wicked into a movie will ruin it.. It was done to Rent, Phantom, 9to5, Mamma Mia and more... and those plays continued to prosper... I cant wait until the movie has an official date..

  • well 2008 is almost over and so is fall. so it might not come til 2009 or 2010.

  • ive heard its goin to be turned into a movie... but not untill 2014, only god knows y, but i think it will be worth the wait if its true!!!

  • If they make a wicked movie, I'd like to see it reflect more of the actual novel than the musical. I really love both and would like to see the book get it's chance at stardom as well.

  • i wish it was a movie

  • I think people who think that a movie will ruin Wicked really should just get over it!! Quit worrying guys, it will be fine! As someone mentioned, it happend to Phantom of the Opera. The magic was still there. It wasn't as amazing on film, but people still loved it! You know you can always say you prefer the stage show. I think that a film effects would actually have slightly more impact. In the Defying Gravity scene, Elphaba flies by a lift, but in a film, it would actually LOOk as if

  • she's flying. Like in Harry Potter. Say if Harry Potter was taken on stage, yes it would be amazing because it's live, but you wouldn't be able to do everything all at once. Lord of the Rings is now a stage musical and that amazed me on a screen just as much on stage. This has happened to loads of shows on Broadway and West End! Do something more useful and just HOPE it will turn out alright! And why would they cast Hollywood stars for Wicked like Ashley Tisdale??? No WAY would they do that!!

  • defying gravity should be something like phantom overture in the movie, like evrything gray and dirty but when she goes up colorful and light and green

  • Is Wicked going to be a movie-movie, or a musical movie?

  • most likly a musical movie....as thats wot people loved most about the wicked franchise...although it would be interesting to see the book version as a movie also

  • You do realize the musical was based on the book of the same name, yes?

  • yeh i've read it :)

  • I agree with you candyfairy and you have made a fair reasonable point. The people who prevent Wicked becoming a movie should get over themselves and just build up hope instead of complaining and worrying. But on some occassions, they're too worried because of the magic being lost, because it doesn't have the same impact on a screen that on stage but I think with Wicked, it will be magical anywhere. Seriously, it will work. They did it with Phantom of the Opera and look how wrong

  • everyone's thoughts were! Although some people thought it would succeed and and it did! We had the magic taken from film to stage to film to stage time and time again.

It will be the same with Wicked. I am slightly worried how they'll create the atmosphere for some of it because there is nothing like live theatre. It's like taking The Lion King show on screen and that wouldn't look right. The costumes and animals wouldn't look as amazing and breathtaking. But we'll just have to wait.

  • i totally agree, theres no way u can get the full amazing effect of wicked on film, maybe if it were filmed from the stage but it still wont be as brethtaking as actually being there....

  • Anyone who thinks that Wicked should never become a movie are total LOSERS and have no life whatsoever!! YOU are the ones who are ruining everything!! GET A LIFE!!!

  • I think I can understand why they don't want it to be a movie. Part of me agrees with them, because I know that;

    A. It will bring in a retarded fanbase. Movie musicals released in this decade always do. There seems to be no avoiding it. I blame Disney.

    B. If it's even imperfect in one aspect, the whole thing is ruined for them.

    C. People are rarely happy with the choice of actors they get for the characters this time around.

I'd love to see a Wicked movie, but I can see why others don't.

  • I mean Look at Phantom of the Opera! Some people thought that a movie would not be good at all, but it was actually fantastic! So stop judging!! At least you can say it's better on stage! STOP TRYING TO RUIN EVERYTHING!!!

  • I don't want Wicked to become a movie if it does. I just think it won't b the same like on stage cuz it's just so amazing when u see it. I know they can do more things with movies but I like it on stage a lot.

  • What is it with everyone being so defensive about Wicked??? For God's sake, this has happened tp EVERY Broadway show!! Well most.

And most of them have succeded! To those who don't want a movie SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! I'm getting sick of you ruining it for US!!Just wait and see what happens, OKAY!!!

  • WOW. You call THIS a trailer?

  • crap!
