While they did do a great job of capturing Hilary Knight's drawing style, and designing those new kid characters in that style, the bland animation almost makes it not worth the effort. Take a look at Knight's drawings in those old Eloise books--they really DANCE on the page; they're so fluid, almost balletic. You really need to have full, flowing animation to do those drawings justice. I know it's very expensive and hard to fund that nowadays, but damn, it's frustrating.

The "Simpsons" is a fantastic cartoon series, and I'm so glad they made it into a movie. It's simply a smart move, but I would love to hear why you prefer a movie of Eloise not be made.

I saw the Christmas movie, and it was, as the old Eloise would say, perfectly awful, for Lord's sake.

These movies watered down that imaginative little freshmouth into a sugary-sweet, PC character who drifts through extremely formulaic stories. There's no trace of the vim and vinegar, the feistiness, or the innocent destructiveness that makes Eloise the character everyone's known for 50 years. Sheesh--just give it some other name--don't try to pretend it's Eloise ("For Lord's sake." :)
