  • Most cops do abuse their authority, but for the sake of the show, you gotta remember that Elliot is cop with high moral standards compared to most people.

  • To touch on something, Elliot is wrong, cops do abuse their authority, including him. Cops in real life would abuse their authority just to nail someone. All to uphold the oath to always catch their prey. If you put a real cop in Stabler's position they damn well would abuse their authority.

  • Robin Williams was amazing here!

  • Happy burgers incident actually happen in real life.

  • robin williams was the truth in this ep! loved every minute of it!

  • I agree.this episode shocked me to no end,it had so many twists and turns, plus i was trying to figure this guy out, like predicting his next move to the point where i almost got a headache.but good show anyway.

  • This is by far the best episode of law and order i've ever seen! Robin Williams is such an amazing actor!

  • As much as I love Law and order SVU, this was the one that blew my mind out totally and as of yet, there has not been a episode that matched this epicness...

  • Man I got a chill up my sign when he screamed "SIT DOWN". Great freakin acting, this episode was very well done.

  • That the best law & order show I ever watched.............I remember the day it aired on tv

  • what asshole tapes his tv screen? oh yeah, you do

  • It cut off right b4 the explosion! Damn!

  • Merritt Rook: I didn`t lose them. They were taken from me. I thought there was something wrong with my wife, Julianne. But she said we`re gonna get the baby out. She also said everything was gonna be okay. So if HE`S the doctor, who am I to challenge his authority? So I didn`t. I caved in. You know? And I sat there, and I held my wife`s hand, and I watched her bleed to death. I put my faith on a little guy in a white coat! And he killed my wife and son!! PUSH THE BUTTON!!

  • Detective Elliot Stabler: No.

    Detective Olivia Benson: AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

    Merritt Rook: PUSH... THE... BUTTON!!!

  • SUV: weak faggots unit

  • True, I did want to see the end cause that was pretty dang good episode of Law and Order, maybe even the best. Robin Williams, one hell of an actor

  • you let out the best part

when he blows up the place en escapes !!!!!!

  • What I find funny is that Robin Williams's character uses the Milgram Experiment to threaten the guy, and the guy knows the experiment's name, and yet they fail to address the fact that anyone taking a Psych class knows that the true Milgram experiment was also simply a ruse.

    =================

What's different is that he said "this time, it's for real"...So Elliot believed him and who could blame him?

  • Elliot Stabler: But you killed him, didn`t you? This isn`t about authority or obedience or sheep. You`re just trying to make me suffer like you suffered.

Merritt Rook: You have no idea what I suffered!

  • 2:32, Stabler should have known what Merritt Rook suffered. He didn`t want to remind him, but he had to. I feel sorry for Merritt Rook, but i`m also sorry for Elliot Stabler, too. Because, he had to inflict pain on Olivia Benson because Merritt Rook told him to and he didn`t want to do that. Poor guys.

  • Merritt Rook: I put my faith in a little guy in a white coat! And he killed my wife and son!! PUSH THE BUTTON!! Detective Elliot Stabler: No. Detective Olivia Benson: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Merritt Rook: PUSH... THE... BUTTON!!!

  • damn robin williams was awesome in this episode

  • 2 people PUSHED THE DISLIKE BUTTON!

  • they should make an episode where he returns

  • one of the best svu episodes i have seen

  • Oh yes Robin would be great as hugo strange

  • What I find funny is that Robin Williams's character uses the Milgram Experiment to threaten the guy, and the guy knows the experiment's name, and yet they fail to address the fact that anyone taking a Psych class knows that the true Milgram experiment was also simply a ruse.

  • when he said "push the button!!" his face looked kinda funny

  • "I sat there, and I held my wife's hand, and I watched her bleed to death. I PUT MY FAITH IN A LITTLY GUY IN A WHITE COAT, AND HE KILLED MY WIFE AND SON." No one deserves that. You just want to hug the guy. There are only a few times when a man can cry. This is one of those times.

  • @redshieldshatterer he said little god in a white coat actually

  • Robin played the sad, tortured madman beautifully.Almost made me have empathy for his character.

  • so what happens with the next hidden gun pills or just jail ?

  • Oh my goodness. When I first saw this episode I was shaking to death. Bravo to all the acting and writers. That was intense. It's right up there with "Undercover."

  • Theres a rumor that robin williams is going to be hugo strange in the next batman movie. When I heard this I automatically thought about how awesome he was in this episode (and how much he looks like the character)

  • Hats off to Robin Williams! Terrific acting! The villians they have on this show can sometime being dabbling in on material their acting skills can't handle, but Robin hit the nail on the head. Some of the most dramatic scenes and Robin delivered them perfectly.

  • i love how elliot said "It's not about authority or obidence, you just want me to suffer like you've suffered." he said that at 2:27.

Robin Williams character lost his love. Why would elliot say that if Olivia's the one hooked up to the chair, being tortured (he thinks), not Kathy, Not Dani, OLIVIA!

  • I love this ep, the end really demonstrates Elliot's loyalty to Olivia :)

  • it's so sad when he says "I put my faith in a little god in a white coat and he killed my wife and son" D:

  • "There is too much pain in the world already". This is cruelly true.

This episode reads like a variation of the 1963 Milgram Experiment.

In fact, upon doing a little reearch on Wikipedia, it is.

A disproportionate number of us a capable of a lot more cruelty then we might believe. This goes to explain how a lot of nice, clean-cut Christian boys were capable of such horrors in the SS during WWII.

  • 2:05-2:15;how true,Robin,how true....

  • I dont really undertand this part... was or was she not hooked up to electircity?

  • @Hisgurl942 She wasn't. Her screams was recorded to make it seem as though she was.

  • @Jenna424 so he was just tormenting Elliot

  • @rebarox85 Yes. He was testing Elliot in a cruel way.

  • @Jenna424

It's called a Milgram experiment, simple yet amusingly effective heh heh heh

  • @Jenna424

i agree he was testing Elliot to see if he would stand up to him now that he had the authority, when Elliot refused to torture his own partner Merritt saw that he was not one of those who would abuse power, like holding dominion over your own partner, so he released them. Elliot was everything Merritt wished he had been, but he had to make sure, it's a twisted thing, but robins character has had a terrible existence of weakness and pain.

  • @rebarox85 Sorry to butt in, but he's pretty much replicating the experiment they mentioned at around 1:32. It's a really interesting experiment actually. Some of the best known psych experiments just prove how terrible people can be.

Look into the "Stanford Prison Experiment".

  • This is what happened...he hid from the detectives and went away to Hollywood to become an actor for his cover up...Robin Williams is a wanted man...LMAO!!!!

  • Really love the episode but hate the mystery at the end. I want to know where he went damnit!

  • "PUSH THE BUTTON!!!" lol great episode

  • He was so creepy here-in a good way :D, amazing how well he pulled this off

  • i dont even watch cop shows like this but wheni changed and seen robin williams I started watching and his performance is fuckin amazing

  • fucking brilliant performance by robin. one of the best episodes ever too. chilling

  • what are the odds me too just watched this

  • I'm watching this now :D

    I actually laughed at this.

  • I love how Robin Williams is such a dynamic actor. He's just as capable of playing a cartoon character's voice, to playing comedy roles, to playing serious roles like this one, as well as being a tremendous comedian. Certainly one of the best talents out there.

  • aw come on!!!!!! what happens after he ties his shoe!

  • @avenueyay after he ties his shoe he had a remote attached to his leg that he used to blow up the shack and he got away...... he possibly ran in to a lake where he died........XC

  • I want to see this whole episode

  • Robin williams again proves how great and amazing actor he is!! He got me to tears when he was tallking about his wife's death, such a marvelous performance!

    Awsome!!!!

  • One of the greatest SVU episodes ever

  • This was the best episode of the show by far. Robin Williams should be considered one of Hollywood's greatest actors.

  • he is a great actor. this proves it.

  • @BlackHallow55 I thought he already was lol

  • @TheLightningmikester i was just saying if they ever made a list of great actors they should put robin towards the top of the list.

  • @BlackHallow55 He is. He even won an award for his role in this Law and Order episode.

  • I LOVE this episode :D

  • Aww... you didn't show the blast at the end...

  • I saw this episode it was awesome

  • best episode ever robin willaims is a great actor

  • can't wait for robin willaims to return for the 300th episode.

  • @MikeMJPMUNCH How do you know for sure that Robin Williams gonna return to svu on the 300th episode

  • this was a very good episode. i liked the ending to this, how robin williams tries to force elliot to submit to his authority, much like the shock experiment he describes
