Nova is a girl but she is part of Hikaru(litterally a piece of her) because nova is a piece of her she (nova) loves hikaru so no there not gay

@MZBABYPUGGIE like MewHara said, Nova is a part of Hikaru. In the first Magic Knight, after the death of Emeraude (sp?) Hikaru hated herself to the point where Nova was born as the physical darkness of Hikaru. Nova explained in one of the episodes that she hates everyone that Hikaru loves, and because Hikaru hates herself so much Nova loves her. Does that make a little more sense?
