@setchmaniac22 Rolf was average when he started playing at Hillsong. It took him years to get on albums and he worked really really really hard. It just takes faith, patience, and practice :D

The kit is a pearl Masters and the toms are 12" and 14". If you are not already, i suggest following him on twitter "rolfwamfjell". Its definitely worth making a twitter account just to hear some of the things he tweets about, different tips and tricks and practice advice. I've asked him 3-4 questions on twitter and he's always responded, Great drummer and a great guy.

@diegochangos The crash is a Dark K crash 17" I believe. Everything is A custom except the hi hat. I believe those are just old hi zildjian hi hats. The drumset is most likely a DW with remo heads. That's the closest you'll get to getting to know about this setup. Believe me, I've looked around like crazy to find out as well. The drummer did post up his EXACT drum configuration from years ago on his hillsong blog though.

@MrJohnshee Dont think thats DW, it doesnt have the circular lug attachments on the shell. I know hes been with both DW and Pearl but im guessing thats definitely Pearl,... either Masters or MMX.

i think they use a little auto tune. it's very common for profesional productions to use it. when most people hear the word auto tune, they think of the "robot"-like voice that pop music abuses today. however, most people don't realize that auto tune has been around since the 90's. the lead singer for blink 182 used it A LOT; he said so himself. you can kinda hear it when the voices are drawn out and sustained. i don't think its wrong to use auto tune. it's hard to be perfect live every time.

@fremy123 Haha ok ok :-) I saw hillsong perform in the UK at the big church day out was great...i was in an electro pop band once, and our singer used an autotune thing live. it was really good. its not that he couldnt sing in tune, it was for an effect, like Cher or however you spell her name. one of the sing shows like xfactor have been using auto tune recently?!?!?! so weird. anyway!! take care.

The drum kits hillsong use on their live albums are pearl masters series. This kit right here Rolf (one of the drummers for hillsong) is a pearl master series kit. He is using a K crash and a A custom ride and not sure what kind of hi hats he is using.

it's not the bass drum, it's the mic, he does however probably have some sort of pillow inside of it to muffle it, but again it's the mic that makes it sound like that

try using an aquarian super-kick batter head, then put a pillow or a couple of towels inside if you want that punchy sound. also, make sure you get one of those bass drum slap pad things. remo makes them.
