  • that's just an awesome commercial

  • This was a hell of a half-time show. The Who are even awesome doing a commercial. :-)

  • what was that song at :28 ?

  • Behind Blue Eyes

  • It was a long time since I saw something so energetic as this performance... I´m totally amazed and I really know what I´m saying... it was incredible... unusual in days like today where empty plastic dolls are shown and saled as great artists.

  • I saw them at halftime and thought they were great..I heard a lot of people were complaining about them I don't know what they were complaining about...some people I guess are never satisfied...

  • What a great tribute that turned out to be with the visuals of this promo!

  • What songs are in this

  • Baba O'Riley; My Generation; Who Are You; Magic Bus; Won't Get Fooled Again; Pinball Wizard.

  • Just saw them! These oldies still know how to rock!

  • they were so good at halftime!

  • Just saw Halftime. Was great!

  • me too!! LOL

  • Looking forward to this tonight, they'll play Baba O'Reilly with 100% certainty. At least I believe they will...

  • Yep. Baba O'Riley isn't a very hard one, but a good one.

  • who dat ? dat who !

  • Dude, this will be the largest audience The Who has EVER had and they only have 12 minutes to make an impress new fans. Do you really think Pete would risk playing anything other than their most recognizable songs? Key word is "recognizable." He has to make people walk away saying "That was some kick ass music." Even in their recent concerts they dont play any Entwhistle songs. he has to think about what "most" people want.

  • To gr8fullydeadic8ed,

Even if they did play "Wont get fooled again" for 10,000 time, its still better than almost of the mainstream stuff coming from todays bands. I have listened to everything from the Beatles to Green Day and I can say that with confidence.

  • keep the super bowl rocking

  • Whogasm! LOVE IT !

    LONG LIVE ROCK!

  • gee there's a shocker, they are playing the same handful of songs that get played on every single classic rock radio station ad nauseam.

don't get me wrong i love the who. especially the rarities & b-sides,i'm just sayin $50 says they don't play boris the spider or acid queen @ the superbowl. why be so predictable?

until you can mix it up a bit grandpa daltry why don't u hobble off the stage & take ur crossdressing convicted sex offender lead guitarist with you!!!

  • boris the spider is an entwhistle song...so they won't be doing that!

  • actually that's more of a reason to play it.

to honor their fallen bass player.

but they won't,they'll just play the same handful of songs that u hear on the radio constantly.

  • True...but at least they get a huge audience...they deserve it...I can't wait

  • Clearly Rolling Stone needs to recruit you with such "informed" opinions.

  • @gr8fullydeadic8ed That's why they played recognzeable songs: this is marketing, baby...The NFL...the ads....all of it. I'm fine with it.

  • If you were there would you play any new original?

Would you play something unknown? Would you play something not enough rehearsaled? Would it be a good chance to improvise? Certainly the marketing was there as it is in everything (probably even in the shirt you´re dresse now) but there was also a lot of competence, don´t you agree?

  • Yes--I agree. further, if people say they don't recognize music by the classic groups, well they SHOULD! These songs have much longer legs than anything Lady ga ga will come up with--tho she may be THE marketing genius in all of music right now.

  • the setlist for halftime is Pinball Wizard, Who are You, Baba O'Riley, and Won't Get Fooled again. I dont know if that's the order, but I hope Baba O'Riley is first and Won't Get Fooled again is last. I hope the intro is as good as Prince's back 3 years ago

  • *whogasm**

  • @RobertGoodFella the who have more enegry than any other band in the world

  • @RobertGoodFella 5 years and decent artist. Really? That is funny.

The Who are the best pick they could have made. If you don't think so, just look up the video of them at the media day.

  • Great Band. but I'm sure timely for the Superbowl half-time venue.

The Stones, Petty, and Springsteen all had the American public in mind for their respective half-time shows (ie quick hit anthems).

The Who, are a great band in a perhaps former life. What they lack, is a steady, recent history of big stage touring to match the required presentation.

Most important, their hits are slowly progessing anthems. Not really fitting well in the necessary 12 minute slot allowed by the format.

  • WHO DAT!!! Black & Gold Superbowl!

  • awesome! first the stones at the superbowl now the WHO! LONG LIVE ROCK!
