  • may the wind always be at your back, and the sun always upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

  • yep blow brought me here!!!

  • Did You have permission to submit this, there is a sound sample of it on Dylan's official website.

  • @Myrtone dont worry SOPA will go after him if they didnt. why the fuck do you care if they got permission or not? just enjoy the song ya prick.

  • LOVE THIS SONG IN BLOW !

  • this song reminds me of my brother Alex.he passed away a year and a half ago.he was 34 yrs young.he didnt ride horses or listen to Dylan...but he loved a good melody and stringed instruments.I miss you little bro and hope to see you soon in paradise where i will no longer be sad for you.Love You.

  • im still trying to memorize the lyrics

  • This is one of the most beautiful interplay's of voices and instruments I have heard. It where simplicity and sophistication intersect and eventually collide into a spectacular array of sound. It is hard to believe this was conceived in the 60's.

  • Mango Float.

  • Rest in Peace Capt. Lustica! this one's for you.

  • such a wierd song lol this is coming from the biggest zimmy fan on earth

  • LIKE if YOU heard THIS song on The Movei Blow and looked it up

  • nothing stupid about a Dirge musicologists study Dylan worldwide .At any time in teh world teher are 27 universities currently conducting studies on Bob Dylan did you know that? Shakespeare the last great bard we ,teh world ever had, was hardly appreciated while he was alive we r alive in his time unlikely there is another!

  • I don't like the album but you have to have a chunk of coal for a heart if you don't appreciate this song.

  • @roaringbee this dirge is sheer genius i pla it ver several months much like a religious chant! all the tired horse will be remember as the greatest modern day dirge ( go look itup0 in our times!

  • im sure we all know that bob dylan wasnt ever too interested in perfecting things, but im pretty sure he didnt consider that this song or album was "meant to be stupid" ...

  • This track is the bomb!

  • this song was meant to be stupid. this whole album was. he's BOB DYLAN. actually a lot of his work is careless, intentionally inane, since then. i mean he's BOB DYLAN. he can do whatever the hell he wants. you're clueless if you can't see that.

  • @blacklion1798 As Bob said himself.... "Im a song and dance man".. anybody that wants more than that can go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut

  • THIS IS FUKIN SEXY AND SENSUAL AND FOR ME MOURNING A LOST LOVE

  • 1 dude must have never rode a horse

  • Blow, Do a bump to this

  • Mantovani

  • When I hear this I picture the old south.... blacks in the fields pickin cotton....

  • @trollerguy Uh............

  • For an album that was trying purposely suck, it really isn't all that bad.

  • "How'm I 'posed to get any WRITING done?" Perhaps Bob was thinking at the time...

  • @ApocalypseKurtz

All the tired horses in the sun

How'm I supposed to get any ridin' done? Hmm.

  • I sang this song to my children when they were infants, I remember walking the floor with the first singing this over and over.

  • @bearysweet33 Meeee too

  • 1 person did not get any riding done at all.

  • bob dylan/all the tired horses/self portrait alblum

  • Beautiful.

  • No idea why but I love it :-) ???

  • duh

  • Each of us alone in the desert riding however gradually to the sunset, with no certainty of what lies beyond the horizon.

  • @prozack711 Don'l look too hard, Taylor. You may not like what you find...

  • @bitzofdata I don't get it. I at least searched the shit at first but...beats me. Not that I particularly like what I've found so far.

  • @prozack711

That's true. and in a subtle disguised level, the lyrics are based on 19th century social order. It is a metaphor for class or racial suppression; working the southern fields, or perhaps in the factories of the north, for endess hours per day until exhaustion for little pay and little opportunity for a better life.

  • If you think this song is just repeating, then you don't understand music. You have to

listen to the background music, as it changes and adds to the melody. That's the point.

  • @Borbs1119 "All the tired horses in the sun, is also a metaphor". The metaphor relates to those whom are socially and economically oppressed, and wrongly labeled as chosing to be lazy and unproductive; slaves and sharecroppers, the have nots, and any others who have been, are, or will be in similar castes.

  • @Viatriste Not really, it was about the legions of Dylan fans that accepted everything he did... even if was crap. This whole album was a joke to those fans.

  • This song is beautiful during the scene in Blow when his wife is giving birth to his daughter.

  • @flwrpwrful YES.

  • @flwrpwrful `The song was legend before Blow was even in the 'Jobs wanted column'

  • I love this track.

  • @AsherSax - why would you wait - either 1.) but it or 2.) post it yourself! looser...

  • @MegaSoulSearcher An even bigger question is why would you got out of your way to make fun of someone for no reason at all... It sounds like you have a lot of hate in your heart. And i'm sure you'll come back at me with another hateful comment, further proving my point. You need to spread the love man, not the hate. Most of the time someone like you bashes on someones else, it's usually because you actually hate yourself. And for that I feel sorry for you.

  • "yes, this album is pure feces."

    -Rolling Stone Magazine

  • @holypiss17 One thing I've learned is to never take Rolling Stone's word for anything;) I love Self-Portrait!

  • So deep, so heartfelt-truly the greatest songwriter of all time.

  • Is this dedicated "To Chumlee"?
